I went there for my birthday this year, during the Olympics... I thought the 22 oz. bone-in-rib-eye was to die for! I believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion... but I even enjoyed the service. It was an incredible Valentine's Day! more

$500 Down the Drain 8/9/2002

The ambiance is wonderful, but the service just plain ""Stinks"". What a disappointment. We spent over $500 for above average food and horrible service. They even tacked on 19% gratuity for the four of us which the server did not deserve. Pros: Nice Booths, Good Wine Selection Cons: Service, Automatic Gratuity more

Suspenders 8/3/2002

Spencers used to be a real treat. But they have really gone down hill. Their quality is not even comparable to what it was several years ago. You have competition now with Flemings and Shula's, better watch out. Pros: Great lounge, Secluded seating Cons: Terrible Service more

Perfect place for a Valentines Day Date! The atmosphere was incredible... soft jazz and dim lights... great for a romantic date. However, if you are only interested in great tasting food... this is the right place! Spencer's steaks are to die for! All in all -- this restaurant provides the ultimate dinning experience! more

Great Steaks 6/3/2002

I have eaten at many steakhouses throughout the nation including several which have been ranked by reputable cirtics as ""best of the best"". Spencer's will not dissapoint. With exception to the Maddox Ranch House I have dined at each establishment listed on the Citysearch audience top 10 list. It appears most people (including Citysearch editors) can't properly evaluate a great steakhouse. Here's my list of the top five in SLC: 1) Spencer's 2) New Yorker 3) Shula's 4) Carver's 5) Christopher's. Happy eating! more

Not a hotel restaurant 5/30/2002

This is better than the traditional hotel restaurant. The meat is excellent. The atmosphere is excellent. The service can be a bit spotty. When you are looking for a real piece of Steak with traditional fixin's, this was the only game in town until recently. The wine list is way overpriced and the corkage of $25 a bottle is too. It's enough to make you go elsewhere except the competition is every bit as bad when it comes to being wine friendly. On our last visit, we had the head server and when he recognized that their wine list could not provide anything of the quality of the wine we brought, he waived the corkage, but that it not the rule.
