I wanted to respond to the swim program response that was posted below. We had also had some problems with the swim program at Spectrum. The instructors were great, but the office...

Worst

The gym is good and clean compared to the regular popular gyms. There a concerns about it though, the towels are not always spot free, although clean, it's annoying to spread one ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/6/2012

Come on! ?I had to put my membership on hold and now have to cancel. ?Spectrum is going to reactivate my membership so l can cancel it. ?What that means is they will charge me an additional $75.00. ? Unbelievable! ?A policy that reeks of bad business and oblivious to members leaving them positive feedback. more

Poor management and lack of human compassion ! 6/9/2011

Poor management and lack of human compassion ; a friend of mine had to cancel the membership for personal problems and the management charged her a steep fee. They don't care about personal problems and other life situations. Considering the fact that the economy is still in recession, and many people are dealing with financial problems, it would have been appreciated an effort on their side. Even after personally, talking to the vice president of the facility, he did not care at all. Do no expect human compassion or any help whatsoever at this place. more

Classes and Spa 10/19/2010

The gym is good and clean compared to the regular popular gyms. There a concerns about it though, the towels are not always spot free, although clean, it's annoying to spread one open to find yellow and brown stains. 1 of 4 towels has it. It's been that way for a long time, even though we wrote notes about that. Lack of variety of classes, there is a big gap from 12 to 4 -4:30pm, there should be classes during that time, at least once a week, one class minimum. I hate to wait till 4:30. Lack of dancing classes and basics, they have one or two salsa, but not basic, so I can't have it, the other is flirty dance, which is not very interesting for many, sometimes there are only handful of people attending, not as a regular salsa basic, or belly dancing steps, zumba and Nia in the evening as the other locations. Those classes are always in demand, and I've never seen any with less that 10 people. Yoga basics and yoga I are not that many either, it's mostly I/II levels, so not that relaxing, and basics are always needed from time to time, to stretch and relax in the evening. Spa is not that fresh, water is changed 2 -3 times a week, and imagine how many people go in and how much chemicals go in there without showering. Some women with short hair have strange attitude too, so I'm not comfortable going in. I love the atmosphere of the classes and teachers are great though. The place has a good vibe, machines are good and clean not too crowded, but still not enough with all the above disadvantages, I hope more people draw their attention to the above issues. paying that much money for only machines, and avoiding the spa, and lack of dancing classes is definitely to be considered. I'm shopping around if the situation stays that way. more

Swim Program Revamped 12/2/2008

I wanted to respond to the swim program response that was posted below. We had also had some problems with the swim program at Spectrum. The instructors were great, but the office never returned our calls, and we had trouble getting registered for classes. After trying a few times, we gave up and went somewhere else. Pros: Instuctors, equipment, friendly staff Cons: Can be crowded more

Great Staff! 11/19/2008

The Spectrum Kids Club at South bay is the BEST. They are always so friendly and easy to talk to. I never have had a problem leaving my kids with the staff because they are so attentive. I highly recommend them for any child care services. Pros: Thumbs up!!! Cons: None!!! more

Best management 5/21/2008

Every question i have they are more than helpful and informative. I highly recommend the Gym and especially the Kids Club. Pros: Awesome Management more

Summer Camp 4/16/2008

I don't know how many of you have been able to check out the Summer Camp that Spectrum offers this years but it's amazing. Each day has a different theme and there are many field trips that they are taking the children on. Every day is broken down for you which helps when there are only certain days that you can do throughout the summer. CHECK IT OUT!!!!!! Pros: Thumbs way up!!!!! more

Great outside activities 8/7/2007

I just moved to California recently from the east coast and I needed help on enjoying my new surroundings. I never thought I would find it at my gym! I work in el segundo so I joined a gym by my office and they were offering hike for free. I got to see a part of california I never would have seen on my own...kinda cool ! Pros: large weight floor, clean, extra outside activities, no rif raf Cons: I live too far away to use this gym on the weekends! more

Very Upset with Customer Service!! 6/16/2007

It seems no one yet wrote about the kids Swimming classes......... I just want to share my experience and don't wish to happen to anyone else. I was soooooooo excited that I found a good place for my almost 3 years old twins to start Private swimming classes this summer starting June 11th. I was planning since 3 weeks and starting calling them, my Husband left them 3 detailed messages to have one call back, no one returned our calls. I said that is fine I will go in Person, I took my twins and went and talked to the responsible lady a week before the begining of the session. She barely apologizes anyway saying that she has had a lot of messages that she doesn't have time to hear and answer. I disregarded everything!! and then she was gentle enough to answer all my questions and took all the info including my home phone number and my cell. I was supposed to have a call from her to start the enrollment and settle the payment over the phone to be able to start the following saturday. Today is Saturday June 16, no one bothered to call back, I lost all the excitments, cannnot promise the boys anymore!! I really felt it is a kind of direspect, I would like to know if I am the only one who was treated like this. Honestly, I don't even wish to go back although I need the service. Sorry for this kind of service!!! By the way, before getting to South Bay I also left a message to the responsible at the facility in Howard Hughes no one returned my call.....My advice is when they ask to leave a message not to say that your call will be returned within 48 hours, the message should be we cannot return people's call nor we can respond to people inquiry over the phone, we can only provide services in person, and even when we go in person this is what will happen!!! more

Costumer Service 3/21/2007

I attended a South Bay birthday party for a friend of mine who is a member of the Spectrum Club. It was unbelievable! The coordinators took care of everything for the party, the birthday invitations, birthday cake, decorations, and goodie bags. It was a load off for my friend. I was so impressed that I booked my son's fourth birthday there. Thanks for providing such great services. more

Best club in town 3/20/2007

This club spoils you. The club is clean and has everything you are looking to do at a club. I can't imagine going somewhere else after being a member here for 6 months. My wife and kid loved Jason, our sales rep, and the kid's club is awesome. They even have a play maze. Do yourself a favor and check out this health club, it wil change your opinion of clubs and you will not want to leave. Pros: Cleanliness, amenities, staff and Cafe Cons: Parking more

So CLEAN! 3/20/2007

Clean, no waiting and tons of equipment. Worth every penny! I joined with three of my buddies and all of use are probably going to add on our wives in the next few weeks. more

Unbelievable Health Club! 3/2/2007

After walking into the Spectrum Club located in El Segundo I had one word come to mind, WOW! This club club has it all! Friendly staff, state of the art equipment, and a top of the line Personal Training and Pilates team offered to all of it's members. If you live in the South Bay I would highly recommend visiting this club. Joining any other club would be a waste of time. Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

Great Club! 3/2/2007

I just worked out at, and joined the Spectrum Club South Bay in El Segundo. What a great club! Besides having all the equipment I need, the atmosphere and cleanliness made me feel like I was at an upscale hotel. The place is beautiful, and has great energy! I did my cardio, while watching my own individual monitor, and listened to my Ipod! I even saw Elton Brand there (I guess the LA Clippers practice there)! That was really cool! They have plenty of machines and weights, and the steamroom was the perfect temperature! I love this club! I would recommend it to anybody! Pros: They have everything! Cons: I do not know how to swim yet. more

Best Athletic Club in the South Bay by far! 3/2/2007

The South Bay location is phenomenal. It is huge! I never have to wait to use any of the equipment, cardio or resistance equipment. The staff are friendly and courteous. I love the fact that each peice of cardio equipment has an individual TV screen so that my 45 min. cardio work out flies by and I can catch up on the news or my favorite show. Pros: I dont have to wait for anything and it is utra clean more

This gym is unbelievable! 3/2/2007

I used to live in New York and since I moved to LA, had a hard time finding a comparable gym. When I walked into Spectrum I fell in love. This place actually has TWO basketball courts. For me, the biggest hting is I hate waiting for equipment. I haven't waited since I joined. And they have tons of equipment. The locker rooms are really clean too. To top it off, there is actually a BAR in the club. And last but not least, the club isn't intimidating at all, despite being so nice. I'll be a member for as long as I live here. Pros: Clean, no waits, tons of equipment Cons: None so far more

Great Club, Great atmoshere, & Great experience 3/2/2007

When I walked into this health club my first thought was heaven on earth near the beach. This club had it all, a great staff that was friendly, courtesy, and I almost thought the front desk staff was related to me by my favorite uncle only see at family reuinons. The club itself was so clean I could literally eat my lunch in front of the big screen TV while sitting on the couches in the Mens locker room. This 100,000 sq foot club was a cornucopia of fantastic updated cardio equipment, lots of variety of the latest strength equipment, in a non hurry comfortable environment. After it was all said and done with I got a great tasting meal at their awesome cafe that was reasonibly priced and very tasty. This club gets an A+ in my book. Ya gotta check it out!!!! Pros: staff, cleanliness, environment Cons: larger club than what I'm used to more

Great Customer Service 3/1/2007

Spectrum South Bay has by far been my favorite Health Club so far. It is quiet, clean and has a friendly staff. It feels more like a country club with it's wireless internet hub, ComputerZone, healthy and delicious cafe, new equipment and great group excercise classes. The locker rooms are like that of a 5 star hotel with all the ammenities and services you can ask for. more

Best Club in the South Bay! 3/1/2007

My experience at Spectrum South Bay has been wonderful. Customer service is excellent, there is never a wait for machines. It's very relaxing after a workout, I take time to visit the steam room and then jump into the jacuzzi for a soak. The cafe provides a wonderjul selection of healthy dining whether you want a quick bite or just sit at the ComputerZone and check your e-mail with a smoothie in hand. My kids love the bounce houses, mazes and staff at the Kids Club and my husband loves to play a little Bball in the Clippers Court (practice facility for the L.A. Clippers) Pros: Customer Service, Cleanliness, Locker Rooms more
