Space NK Bloomingdale's Chestnut Hill

My recent visit was delightful! The Mall at Chestnut Hill is a mall like no other, small in size with only 65 or so stores and lacking anoying loitering teeanagers. Most of the stores seem to be focused towards home furnishings and women's fashions with very few options for men. Their are four wonderful restaraunts including Bernard's Gourmet Asain Cuisine(ABSOLUTLEY MUST TRY!) Many of the shops are very unique and cannot be found just anywhere (Eileen Fisher, Sigrid Olsen, Barneys New York, Sharper Image, Apple Computer, Cole Haan, Montblanc, Wolford, L'Occitane & Crabtree & Evelynn) Also don't forget to check out Kenzie Kid' I bought 5 yr old daughter a wonderful Burberry raincoat and a Juicy track suit. The reason no teens - they cant afford it or the clothes aren't for them. Enjoy a nice stroll throughthe malls gardens before dinner and listen to the wonderful Jazz. Pros: no teens, VERY UPSCALE atmosph, unique selection Cons: no elevator, dated decor, small size more

Most of the stores, especially Bloomies, were over-priced for the quality of products on display. Overall impression was one of an upscale discount store however, without the discount prices or selection. Shreve Crump & Lowe was the only exception, although even that bastion of good taste and quality merchandise seems to be flagging with its altogether obvious attempt to appeal to an ever wider variety of consumer. My advice to SC&L: endeavor to keep your oldest and most loyal customers happy and you will thrive; or otherwise be doomed to "wholesale" mediocrity (pardon the pun). I will continue to do the lion's share of my discretionary spending in London. Bond Street shops have it all, quality, atmosphere, good help, and yes! -- VALUE! If you've really got the shopping bug, it's more than worth the cost of a plane ticket. Parking wasn't bad. more

the chestnut hill mall is a good alternative to when i cant go in to boston to shop. i love barneys and jasmine sola, but j jill is agreat less trendy alternative the restaurants are great and sometimes just go here for eating dinner. well i might sneak in a trip to jasmine sola.......... Pros: restaurants, good parking, stylish Cons: , small, pricey more
