I received a coupon from soutmore in the mail for new glasses at $75! The owner, Dave was very helpful in selecting a frame. All and all, it was a fast process and a great price! I love my new glasses and will be sending my husband there as well. It's a great kept secret! more

Best Optical In Texas 4/11/2011

I have been going to Southmore Optical for many many years. They have been in business, and at the same location for almost forty years. They have the best selection, at reasonable prices, and have always gotten my glasses back to me within two hours. This is a family owned and operated business, who really seem to care about their customers. The exam that I have always received there, has not been a five minute in and out experience, They take their time, and answer any questions that you might have. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who is wanting the best possible care for their eyes. The chain establishments that I used to go to, have store clerks, who are not certified for their line of work. They are not licensed opticians. Southmore Optical, only has licensed / certified opticians to help you. If you look this company up on the BBB, you will find that they have an a+ rating. I don't know what some of these other postings are talking about, because they surely more

It almost sounds to me, like jealous competitors, trying to bad mouth a good company. Take my word for it, give them a try. You will continue, as I have, to go back again and again for your eye care. Good people to deal with!! more

Big Mistake, Big! 8/6/2010

I should have read the reviews before going to this place. I usually go to Focus 20/20 outside of Walmart. But I saw the coupons to Southmore Optical so I thought why not. It looked like a good deal, exam and glasses. I mean, usually I pay $52 for the exam and about $250 for a descent pair of glasses at another location. The reviews are right about this place not having prices on the glasses. He convinced me to take the exam first and then worry about the glasses. Unfortunately if I didn't buy the glasses there the coupon wouldn't work and I would have to pay about $100 for the exam alone. Well, I ended paying $480 for the exam and glasses w/out the anti-glare or tint. I've used glasses most of my life, so I knew something was wrong w/these. I can't see very well with them, it even causes headaches. In stead of messing w/this place anymore I'm going to another place for another pair. I still have to go back for the perscription, I hope he gives it to me. more

Bad customer service! 5/13/2010

This place is terrible. I bought glasses here and could not clearly see out of them. I went back in a few days to try to get them corrected and they told me they were right. If I wanted them readjusted, I would be charged $175.00. I got a copy of the prescription and took it across the street to TSO. They told me that the bifocal line was too high and that is why everything was blurry. They corrected the prescriotion for $50.00 and now I can see clearly. I will never go back to Southmore Optical. more

Wish i never gone there 8/9/2009

This place is too expensive. I ended up paying $300 for contact lenses including the eye exam. origininally I came in with a coupon for $75 eye exam and after the exam i found out that it didn't include the contacts (my mistake). he told me i could take the rx somewhere else but he somehow convinced me to purchase contacts by telling me that the contacts will last 1 year and said other convincing stuff that i dont remember. plus he said i will get 3 FREE check up visits for the next following 3 weeks. Oh, and they gave me 3 boxes of cleaning solutions free, which were all expired (hmm). The good thing is that he is very educational because he's an instructor at U of H. But I know i could of gotten a better deal somewhere else, for sure. more

Cannot recommend 5/2/2009

The owner to this business is very arrogant, rude and not interested in customer service. He has one way to do things and that's his way. He does not have prices on frames so there's no way to tell if you're getting a coupon discount or not. His prices are high and you're led to believe that you get better, personal service. Not quite true. Cannot recommend. I paid $495 in 7-08 for glasses, 4-09 something broke and when I took them back, his repair person was not available at 2:10 pm. Out to lunch. No one else could repair. Oh really?? He obviously did not want a happy customer, especially AFTER he had my money. Pros: none Cons: owner is rude more

rude, arrogant, bad customer service 5/1/2009

Bought glasses July 2008. Owner was a little 'over the top' in singing his own praises but I wanted glasses quickly. $495 and that was with a coupon! Picked up and he would not let me keep the RX. Every other optical has returned it to me with no problem. He absolutely would not. He seemed to only be interested in getting me out the door. 4-29-09 one of the nose pad pieces fell off. Less than 10 months old. Took them back next day at 2:10 pm. He said his 'lab' guy would be back from lunch in 45 minutes. He wanted me to leave glasses or wait. I asked if there was someone else who could do it. This is a private optical but a relatively large building with several employees. He said lab guy had to re-thread so screw wouldn't fall out again. What? The screw never fell out, it was still there, he didn't even look at my glasses. Just needed a new nose pad, period. I couldn't believe that as "owner", he did not have hands on for the whole operation as he runs the business. He informed me that more

Horrible, Rude!! 2/9/2009

Their sign on the street plainly states "Free Eye Exam Free Glasses" when I called to find exactly what that meant the man who answered was so rude and acted like I was stupid. He said, "of course you have to buy something. No one gives away anything for free." If they act that way on the phone I am definitely not going to trust them with my eyes!!! more

EXPENSIVE CONTACT LENSES 11/1/2008

i wouldn't recommend anybody to this place based on the cost of contacts. It's obvious this business is more popular for their cheap glasses. I payed $300 (incl. exam) for 1 pair of permanent (lasts 1 yr) contacts. i feel ripped off now realizing i shouldve of just taken the $75 prescription and bought my contacts online for $15. i didn't realize the cost was so hi until after i got my exam but the doc talked me into proceeding with the deal because these will last me a year and i get to come back for 3 more "free" visits for the next 3 weeks just as a check up to make sure the contacts are doing fine. the service is great, the doc teaches at a college so he's informative and stuff but the COST is crazzzy. oh, they gave me 3 free boxes of cleansing solution but they expired the same month...hmmm i guess it must of been a while since they've fitted for contacts. Pros: INFORMATIVE. KNOWLEDGEABLE. CUSTOMER SERVICE Cons: CONTACT LENSES TOO EXPENSIVE more

Southmore Optical 7/10/2006

When my daughter began complaining that she couldn't see the front of her classrooms clearly, I took her to Southmore Optical. Neither my husband nor I or any of our children had ever had vision problems before, so I didn't know where to go. Southmore Optical has been in business for as long as I can remember, and in the same location, so that's where we went. The service we received there was outstanding. She was very apprehensive about having her eyes dilated and the glaucoma screening, but the optician was very good with her, and everything went smoothly. We got everything we needed in just a couple of hours, and overall, it was a pleasant - albeit expensive - experience. more
