I purchased a maintenance plan with my new car from South Charlotte Hyundai. Initially I was misled to believe that the plan covered certain services that it does not. The literature was misleading and the salesperson was misinformed. At the time I scheduled service, I was told by the service department that the work was included. When I arrived I was told that it would cost $200-$500 depending on which option I chose. Long story short, I was later told the plan I purchased only included oil changes. Unfortunately, getting an oil change is a three-hour ordeal for me because the store is far from my home. I was told that I could get the service done at a closer location, but none of the locations I was told I could use for service honor the service plan I was sold. Prior to purchasing a car at South Charlotte Hyundai, getting an oil change was as simple as going to my mechanic adn getting the work done. Now I have to schedule an appointment in advance and then take time off work and plan my day around the appointment time. If I call for same day service, I'm told my only option is to drop my car off and hope that I can be worked in. I was told that I could speak to someone in finance about terminating my plan. I spent 15 minutes waiting to speak to someone. Another 15-20 minutes in their office trying to resolve the issue, but the person that assisted me could not give me an answer on how to terminate my plan. That was three days ago and no one from the dealership has called me back or told me how to get out of my plan. I'm told that because it's under new ownership I will need to travel out of town to some place in South Carolina to terminate. Yet, the dealership still has not told me where or why they cannot find a solution that is in the best interest of their customer. A total inconvenience. Before getting a maintenance plan be sure to read the fine print and ask lots of questions. After you get the answers, be sure to verify them with at least two more people because I have gotten multiple answers to the same question. None of them seem to be correct. No one seems to know the answers or be on the same page. It would be ideal to add a quick service lane because there is no reason an oil change should be a three-hour ordeal. The staff at the dealership is friendly, which is why I'd planned purchasing my next car here. However, I am so disappointed with my service plan that I will not be a lifelong customer. Unfortunately, it looks like I'm stuck dealing with this madness for the next 60 months. When it's time for me to trade up to a new vehicle, I will take my business elsewhere.
