Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere - cheap too! (1) Chicken and Broccoli

Worst

The food is good and the atmosphere is cool, but very unfriendly. The seating hostess is the most unfriendly of all, which is not the person I think the owners would want to have...

Great food, great prices 6/26/2008

I live on the same block and have gone here at least twenty times (not including take-out). Food: extremely tasty and full of exotic flavors/spices- highly recommend the mussels appetizer, the squid pad thai, and the skirt steak special (ask for the hot pepper/hot sauce tray as well, which contains four types of hot seasoning). Prices - very cheap, considering the quality of the food and the neighborhood (yes, unfortunately full of organically-clothed yuppie-hippy-mommies). My girl and I usually get a bottle of wine (about $20), two appetizers ($5-$7 each), two entrees ($9-$13 each), leave a 20% tip, and usually have 2 rounds of drinks at the bar ($5-$7 each) while we wait. So, the max I'm usually laying is $80-$90 for 2, and that includes A LOT of food (much of it taken home and eaten on Sunday morning - sounds gross but it's GEWD!!!) and 4 drinks each (2 each at the bar and 2 each in the bottle of wine. So, if you don't drink, you're looking at a miniscule $40-$50 for 2). The wait for a reasonably-sized table (2-4) is never, ever more then 45 minutes, so I'm not sure what all the complaining is about. Song is popular and doesn't take reservations, so I don't think a little time chatting with your friends/family while you sit at the bar or wait outside in the pretty nabe is such a big deal. Finally, regarding some negative comments here - yes, sometimes people get loud in there, and yes, drunk people screaming right next to you CAN be annoying. But can't you just relax and have fun? It might be cathartic. The music is loud, the people are loud, and the place is busy...Song is no place to discuss the the latest ""breakthrough"" you've had in therapy, the difficulties in adhering to the latest zeitgeist in affluent, urban parenting, or the misogyny of Phillip Roth. Pros: Food, Prices Cons: A bit of a wait, you might see breast feeding, men in bad sandals more

Best Thai 6/3/2008

Food is excellent. From the Mussels in a great spicy sauce to the rest of the menu along with the spicy noodles. Yes, the food is spicy but not hot unless you ask for it to bee. Unpretensciou stor fromt whic is good you have to know where it is otherwise you can miss it. I'm not telling Pros: Great food, great service Cons: Long lines more

Great food, Great prices, Fast service 5/9/2008

Wow! This place is awesome. I have ordered from them (no joke) about 4 times in the past two weeks and gone to eat there once. I am ordering again tonight! The food is really delicious. The spicy noodles and the green curry are addictive. The beef tends to be a little dry sometimes, so i would get the chicken or the shrimp. The prices are so reasonable that my boyfriend and I spent 20 bucks on two entrees and an appetizer. The place is big and loud, but fun. The service is great. They also listen when you ask for something extra spicy! yum. Pros: delicious food, great price Cons: beef is a little dry--but just a little. get the chicken or shrimp more

Great food for great value 4/27/2008

The food was really good and for a reasonable price. It's a much bigger restaurant than its sister restaurant in Cobble Hill so its not as loud and crazy feeling. Pros: great food Cons: can get loud with the kitchen exposed more

So loud!!! headache! 3/5/2008

Each time (well the 3 times i went there) have sucked. The first time, they sat us at a table next to a bunch of drunk stupid girls, talking so loud, i was about to scream. The waiter took forever, and the food wasnt even that good. The second time, we ended up waiting forever cuz it was so damn crowded, and LOUD. The third and last time, I thought maybe the other two times were just a bad night, however, I went there NOT on a weekend, and was still so LOUD, the music, the people, everything!! and I ended up having such a bad headache I threw up. I dont like that if they sit you all the way to the left (kitchen side) you see the whole damn kitchen, its kind of annoying.. and lastly, you cant even find the damn place, the first time, I had my bf go inside and check to see if it was the right place... Pros: food is o.k, spacious, yard Cons: No parking, LOUD, too dark (i feel like i am in a nighclub) more

Amazing! Amazing! Amazing! 10/17/2007

there is no sign or name on the front, only a stainless trim with blue bulbs which makes you skeptical as a new patron. the entrance posts a menu taped sideways and with an awkward head turn i read. the decor was industrial with subtle contemporary furniture and very little lighting as we were seated in the rear next to the entrance for the outdoor seating area. we were the only couple there at noon but i noticed ""2 turntables and a microphone"" set up and i knew this place was a neighborhood hot spot or a nuisance (depending on your view). ""sorry, no credit cards"" jumps out at you in the menu and is accompanied by a sheet of handwritten specials. all skepticism flew out the door as the first of 3 appetizers were sampled. the chicken spring rolls had a great aroma, the thai house salad was superb, and the thai corn fritters were an absolute treat and earned the distinction of a repeat order for home enjoyment. the special crispy duck in masaman was not available, but my substituted Kang Masaman with beef and my companions Moo Kratiam was prepared quickly as the appetizers were taken and packed. i sampled her dish with hesitation as i only assumed Song could not prepare everything as good as delightful as our appetizers, but i was amazed and even more with my own. the Masaman coconut curry sauce reminded me of a lost but not forgotten Indian entree but with a twist. the beef danced in the bowl but played such a small role compared to the flavor of the sauce. the iced coffee and thai ice tea made it a complete meal. the service was on point and did not require our attention. again, this place does not take credit cards so we paid an extremely reasonable bill and i left there as if i found gold and wanted to keep it to myself. after reflecting, it was only fair that i gave them praise. enjoy! Pros: Cost, Food, Sevice Cons: No Credit Cards more

Best calamari, but very noisy 10/4/2007

The food is great, but it is kind of a scene: dark and noisy. The garden is delightful. The prices are cheap and all the food is good, especially the calamari, curry, hot and sour soup, and mango salad. Pros: Cheap, good food Cons: Loud, dark space; sometimes crowded more

The search is over -- I've found the best Thai restaurant in NYC! 9/14/2007

I've searched high and low for the best Thai restaurant within a 2-hour drive -- I've gone as far as Ardsley in my quest and I'm happy to say I found one in my very own neck of the woods! Song has delicious yet inexpensive Thai food. I've tried the pad see yue and the spare ribs, which are both excellent. Can't wait to go back there and try other items on the menu! Pros: Food, service Cons: Parking, long wait (if you come on the weekends or around 7pm. If you don't want to wait, go a little earlier) more

Delicious and Cheap 8/26/2007

Came here with a large group for someone's birthday and it was delicious, and very reasonable even with cocktails. This is a great place for vegetarians too. We were here on a weekend, so they even had a DJ spinning some great records. The decor is really nice and the service fast. To sum it up - great deal with atmosphere and quality. Pros: Cheap, fun, tasty more

Good Thai Food! 7/11/2007

Good Thai food. It used to be my favorite, but the quality of its food has since gone down. Even so, I'd still go there once in a while. Best time to go is right when they open -- at 5pm -- to avoid the crowds. more

I'm Singing...Song's Super 3/26/2007

Visited with a group of four and waited about twenty mins for a table at 9pm on a Friday night. Bartender makes mean drinks that are affordable to sip while waiting. We ordered two apps. which were huge and tasty (green papaya salad and thai spareribs [ribs rocked]) and served in a flash. Dinner was equally quick but not served before we had completed our apps. Although we ordered typical dishes off the regular menu (specials are available), all exceeded our expectations in portion size and flavor. Pad See Yu was incredibly tasty but not spicy, as requested of all dishes. Green curry and pad thai were above average from most neighborhood Thai spots. Dinner for four with beer/drinks came out to about $20 per person. Can't beat the price and taste value. This is our new spot for take out and eat in Thai. Pros: awesome food, cheap, quick service Cons: loud b/c of dj more

Addictive! 3/6/2007

Song re-defines ""affordable' in our ever gentrifying hood. Affordable is not specific to price. Rather, it is the value proportionate to taste, freshness of ingredients and PORTIONS. Im a hungry dude and no other place in the neighborhood satiates my needs as consistently and invitingly. Loud Music, modern and slightly industrial design keep the place busy and relevant (hipster, rather than homey), but who really cares. I know the menu inside and out, but here are my highlights. The ""Tom Ka Gai"" is exceptional in a bright limey coconut broth and raw mushrooms added last minute (not to mention a heaping amount of sliced chicken and fresh cilantro). The fried eggplant salad is an under the radar treat; a large salad, perfectly lovely on its own is topped/garnished with practically a full order of fried eggplant. The Calamari is crispy and light with what appear to be no salt, which is beautifully odd for something which tastes so good. The real treat on the menu is the damn Pad See Yue, perhaps the most addictive dish I have ever had. You just cant stop eating it. My guess is sugar is the secret (addictive) ingredient. Ask for extra Chinese Broccoli (they used to be WAY more liberal with their ingredients). One last thing folks, the lemon garnish it is served with, Avoid it! It has a strange way of negating the goodness of the dish. Oh, cheap booze too! Drunk and full and under $20. We like! Pros: Portions, Value, Service Cons: Loud more

THE BEST 2/20/2007

My new favorite place. Delicious, cheap food, large portions......what more could you ask for. For about $25 for two people, you can eat like a pig here including a glass of wine. The decor is very simple, but very cozy. Pretty good service. Pros: good food, large portions cheap, cozy setting more

One of my favorites!! Delicious food everytime! 12/14/2006

I have not found a place that I can consisently go to each time where I know the food will be ON POINT each time... untill I discovered SONG. Servings are large, service is great and food is way to delicious! Only weird thing... if you sit in one of the first seats after the bar by the bathroom, it is very very hot! Seems there is a vent that forces air down on ya... more

Cheap and Good 11/21/2006

One of the best values in Park Slope. You get tons of food for very little money and leave feeling like you've eaten something substatial. They're also eerily fast. Pros: cheap good food more

GREAT food, but dont try to order for delivery 10/28/2006

Yeah they take their phone off the hook when they are busy so you cant order for delivery. But if you can get off the couch and head over there, its so well worth it. great tom yum soup, and my boyfriend lives for their pad thai. wish they would have picked up their phone, would have saved me from ordering from Lemongrass... Pros: inexpensive, cool spot, garden outside Cons: loud and dark more

Great food great place 10/15/2006

The food was so so so good i had the noodles and could not stop eating...i great stop for a date and to save some money Pros: food, ambience Cons: kind of slow service more

One of the more decent establishments in the Slope 9/2/2006

If you're looking for a good bargain - this place is for you. Not fine cuisine, not upscale, just large portions that are generally tasty and always fresh, with prompt service, at a VERY reasonable price. It's a place you can return to again and again for regular dinners. Pros: tasty, large portions, great atmosphere Cons: loud more

Trendy Cheap Awesome Thai 8/29/2006

I went here last week with my mother who is usually really picky. The place has a trendy environment with a garden-like setting in the back. Besides the above the normal volume music and loud talking from the crowd trying to talk above the music which my mother was not used to, she thought the food was the best Thai food she had so far. Appetizers/drinks/entrees were no more than $10 and they gave generous portions. I was surprise the quality, quantity and service provided at this trendy up and coming restaurant. Pros: Easy Parking, Superb food for it's price, Ambience Cons: May get crowded and loud noise more

Great tasting, cheap thai! 7/21/2006

This place is great, modern decor, and cheap thai dishes...there is a large selection and its all really good. Their curries are awesome. Pros: $ and tasty! Cons: LOUD music! more
