Editorial review from Citysearch 2/3/2014

one word... SLUMLORD!! 1st of all, my apartment became infested with bed bugs. In fact, the whole building had been infested for months. And no, I'm not just making up things. I have paperwork and exterminator records to back up my statements. After telling the company about the infestation, they didn't believe me and I had to pay for my own exterminator. \r DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY. They go by numerous names such as: 255-257 E. 61st St LLC, Sol Goldman Investments, Lighthouse Properties. There are so many better landlords in NYC, why bother with these dirty, low, skeevy, money-hungry, pieces of crap. I'm surprised they are still in business. Karma is a b*tch, and this company will one day get what it deserves! more

WORST COMPANY EVER -HORRIBLE STAFF 1/4/2011

I agree with everyone who has written a response-. I also never received my rent renewal and had to call them a month before the lease was up. After another two weeks i called again to see where the lease was and they told me over he phone my rent was going up $200...like it was nothing and normal. Solil management is HORRIBLE. I live there and the following has happens: --Lost my check and sent three notices to my apartment stating i owed them money although when i found out they lost it my bf hand delivered it to them. One of the letters was smooshed under my door with no envelope, embarrassing me in front of my neighbors for no reason -Inside is disgusting with cock roaches, garbage that sits for days and a super that cleans the building (if he ever does clean it) with no shirt on -Serious rat issue outside of building although it is located on the UES between park and lex -tried to raise my rent $200 even though they never did any work--tried to raise my neighbors $400 one year! -Leak From my upstairs neighbor's apt and my ceiling was never fixed along with many many other issue. -Brown water all the time -NASTY , Nasty people who work for them--BEYOND UNPROFESSIONAL -I have lived in NYC for 6 years and have never experience such filth and disrespect in my life. NEVER EVER LEASE FROM THEM. more

Horrible Company 12/22/2010

I wish no starts were possible. These people are completely unprofessional. I'm very by the book and tried to have everything in order when I moved out. No one responds to emails, they just ignore you. My lease ended on October 31st. I didn't receive lease paper work to renew until October 15th. At that point I'd already started looking for a new place, because I didn't know if they'd raise my rent. (Apartment is not rent stabilized, they could raise it to ANYTHING.) After receiving paper work I emailed them to let them know I wasn't going to renew and offered a full month's notice if they would like, at my current rent. (Which was the same amount as the new lease was for, they in fact did not raise the rent.) After MANY attempts to get ahold of someone, talked to a woman who said that would be fine, but be sure to send a formal letter that I was moving out, email wasn't good enough. So I included a formal letter with the last month's rent check. What a disaster!! I haven't heard from anyone and they are still sending rent slips to that apartment in my name!!! How can they not know I'm gone? Between a phone call, email and a formal letter???? They cashed the rent check, so I know they got the letter. Unbelievable!!! Maybe they will pull it together and I'll receive my deposit in the next few months. Otherwise I'm going to small claims court. more

Solil Management/Lighthouse Properties 6/21/2010

We live in a building at 166 West 72nd St in NYC in a 1 bedroom paying $2800/month. This is on the high end of 1 bedroom prices in this area. There is 1 passenger elevator in this 12 story building that has been broken for 5 months. The landlord acts as though they are annoyed when asked about the repair. There has been no visible attempt at repairing it nor will they respond when asked when it will be repaired. The office staff is extremely rude and incompetent. Don't rent an apt from this company! Pros: Decent sized apt Cons: Horrible management company more

The Worst Experience Ever 3/8/2010

This is the worst leasing company in Manhattan. I have lived in NYC for 15 yrs and dealt with numerous agencies, this Solil by far is the worst. I completely agree with the other 2 reviews- they treat ppl like sh**. I tried to sublease my apt, as I had to leave thecountry for 6 mths- I would call them on average 30 times a day, would be put on hold 10 min each, and then if I was lucky enough to talk to someone, they would be extremely rude and hang up on me. I was doing them a favor by renting their apt! I dont recommend them to anyone. The worst experience of my life. more

Out to Ruin Your Day or Just Incompetant? 6/25/2009

These people are the worst to work with. They lose everything you send them, take forever to do anything, refuse to respond to voicemails, emails, faxes or even fedex's. And when you eventually do get them on the phone, they are the rudest people you could imagine. AND ALL I WANT TO DO IS RENT AN APARTMENT FROM THEM!!!! They are lucky that they own half the real estate in the city. Clearly they know that they have the power to treat people like garbage. I'm only renting from them because I love the apartment, but I'd never choose to work with them. Cons: Terrible people more

Terrible Company 11/5/2008

I applied for an apartment through Solil Management and it was the worst experience I have ever had. The receptionist could not have been ruder, no manners, treated me like an idiot and was constantly answering phone calls in the middle of our conversation. The process took forever and they didnt even call to follow up. They also had large broker fees, 50 dollar fees for every applicant and guarantor and when I would call to see if my application was approved or not I was put on hold for over 10 minutes each time. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. It is a headache and approval takes up to 6 weeks. NEVER AGAIN! more
