Their estimate was less than half of the actual price, they were late picking up and late delivering, all of which I may have understood except that... ...THEY LIED TO US... ...at every turn. ""I promise your things will get picked up today"". No luck. ""I promise it will not be more than 5 days"". 2 weeks later, our things showed up. ""I promise it will only cost $990"". $1600 later, with rudeness and arrogance at every turn. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! more

Absolutely the worst movers I have EVER used! 12/14/2011

First of all they said they were going to send us a 26 foot truck. When they arrived they brought a 24 foot truck that was already a third of the way full with somebody else?s stuff. I told them that there was no way our stuff would fit on that truck. They kept saying ?Oh no problem, we will get it on there?? We had sent them a very detailed list of things that they were going to be moving. They had the list with them. But their leader kept asking, is this going? I would reply yes, that is going. A few minutes later he would ask, Is that going? I would reply yes, it is on the list you have with you. A few minutes later he would ask, What about this, is it going? I finally replied; I don?t know what part of moving you don?t get? All this stuff is going! I am moving! That is what we hired you guys for, to move our stuff from this house to another one. They got out some blankets, and boxes and tape from their truck. One of the movers told the leader that they needed to get out more, but the leader said they had more than enough. So they began loading the truck and burying the rest of their blankets and boxes and tape in the back of the truck. Half way through the loading of the truck, they ran out of boxes, blankets and tape and were asking us if we had any, I told them no? that is why we hired movers and paid for packing material that is now buried on the back of your truck and you can?t get to. The movers were out in the parking lot yelling at each other and arguing with each other several times. It took them three times longer to load the truck than it would have if they had just sent an empty 26 foot truck. They had to try and strategically place each item on the truck and figure out where it could fit. The last movers I used,? two men and a truck?, were wonderful. They had the truck loaded in less than two hours. Sky moving took nearly six hours. They were not able to get all of our stuff on the truck. When we arrived at the new house, they just dumped the majority of our stuff in the garage. They didn?t set us up and unpack us like they were supposed to. They just dumped everything in the garage. Then their leader had the nerve to ask for a tip! I told him, first of all you didn?t move all of our stuff. I now have to go rent a truck and go back and get the rest of it. You took three times longer than you should have. You literally piled our stuff on your truck without blankets or protection, I have already noticed scratches on some of the furniture that you dumped in the garage. You have to be out of your mind if you think you deserve or are getting a tip from us. The leader even had the nerve to call back the next day begging for money. I told him he was lucky we didn?t persue a law suit. The absolute worst moving experience I have ever had in my life! more

WORST COMPANY IN THE HISTORY OF MOVING 8/30/2011

I'd give them negative stars if I could. DO NOT HIRE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE!!!! TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN! 27 DAYS AND HAVE STILL NOT SEEN OUR STUFF! Sky Moving and Storage will cheat, lie, and steal from you. Don?t be fooled by the receptionists. They will make you think that this company truly cares about you, when in fact all it cares about it taking forever to deliver your stuff and charging you for things you won?t even understand. They give you an estimate and tell you that this is binding and won?t change when they come to pick your stuff up. THIS IS A LIE. They basically ended up charging us TWICE as much, and charging us for things that they said they wouldn?t if we didn?t want (mattress covers, bubble wrap). I figured that I?d to hire them because the estimate was just too good to pass up. I WOULD HAVE PAID DOUBLE TO GET MY STUFF ON TIME. AND SO MUCH WAS BROKEN. They played it real cool when they came to pick up our stuff and said that they would take it to their free storage until we got an address ready for them to deliver to. They picked up our stuff on JULY 29th. I called August 1st to tell them our new address and set up a shipping date. THEY DON?T CALL BACK, first off, so don?t bother leaving a voicemail. They told me multiple times that a truck was coming at the end of the week and would pick up our stuff to move it. 3 WEEKS LATER! ITS AUGUST 24th!!! So here I am, at my new house WITH NO STUFF. IT?S BEEN 27 DAYS SINCE SKY MOVING AND STORAGE PICKED OUR STUFF UP! 27 DAYS I HAVE HAD NOTHING! I am absolutely disgusted by everything that this company stands for. They have no respect or even care for their customers who put faith in them that they can get the job done. The worst part about this moving company is that I depended on them, and once they have your stuff, there is absolutely NOTHING you can do to get your stuff. They will take as long as they like because they already have half your money, and know that they will get the other half. Our stuff finally gets delivered and at least 10 things are broken (including valuables bought in foreign countries and heirlooms). I called them and they said I?d have to file a claim through a third party and WOULD ONLY GET 60 CENTS PER POUND!! PLUS YOU HAVE NO CLAIM IF YOU PACKED YOUR OWN STUFF!!! Boxes had holes in them, tape removed, furniture scratched. THE BOXES LOOKED LIKE THEY KICKED THEM DOWN THE HIGHWAY FROM FLORIDA TO CALIFORNIA. HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS OF BEING DEFRAUDED. \r \r The WORST moving company in the world. My experience took about a year off my life in terms of stress and aggravation. It's not just me: Google the phrase ""Sky Moving & Storage"" and scan through the complaints on several different web sites. \r \r Once all of your belongings are on their truck, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MOVING PROCESS, the only things Sky can guarantee are \r 1) They will waste time and charge for supplies never ordered or used and jack up your rate 3-4x the original quote, DEMAND CASH FOR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS or they will keep your belongings, and laugh at you while cheating you. \r 2) They will be disgustingly late arriving & delivering your goods. \r 3) Their reps (David, Kim, Dennis) will be viciously rude to you once the move is in process. \r 4) They will lie, cheat, damage, defraud, extort, blackmail. \r 5) They will use your credit card for unauthorized charges. \r 6) They will try to get all of your personal information, driver's license number, your credit card security code, banking information, and your signature authorizing them to use your credit card for whatever. \r 7) They will make your life a living hell. \r \r God forbid you should go through the same experience I went through. \r \r WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW NEVER TO USE THIS GANG OF THIEVES. \r \r \r Absolutely horrible customer service. Make so many promises that they cannot keep. Not only were they 4 days late after charging me an extra $2000 for expedited service, they forced me to pay that charge even though they didn't fulfill their end of the bargain, despite speaking to the federal investigator I had reported them to.They demanded full payment while the load was still enroute. They refused to charge my credit card and would only take cash ?!?!?! They lied to me repeatedly about the location of the truck, and I know this because I had already talked to the truck driver and I knew that they were lying. Additionally, Kim, the manager screamed at me, basically held my delivery hostage for ransom, and then delivered MOST of my things, numerous items smashed beyond repair. They then lost several items such as an antique coffee table, and the back off of a custom built Italian chair. Making it even worse, the delivery men tore up the carpeting and put holes in the walls of my entryway that I now have to pay to repair. When they left, they stole all of my moving blankets and then nobody at all would (and still won't) answer any of my calls. SAVE YOUR MONEY & TIME 10/12/2010

Sky moving failed to deliver my boxes on time in spite of the dates in contract. They failed entire 2 weeks !!!! They were very nice until they took my money, afterwards I could call them with no answer. Of course there were damages during the move (I have upload the photos here) but was not able to get any money back from them. I have filed a claim with my credit card company and fortunately got my money back but from Sky Moving but from my MasterCard. more

They will cheat you out of every dime they can! 8/24/2010

Sky Moving and Storage will quote you a wonderfully low rate, promising no hidden fees and no extra charges. When they arrive (which for me was 6 hours late). They will add on fees for everything imaginable, including packing tape that they use to wrap around your furniture pads. They charged me for stairs despite the contract saying no charge for the first set. They added on about $600 worth of fees that were not disclosed previously. They illegally charge extra based on the laws that protect consumers from moving companies. A company can charge a flat rate based on estimated weight with no extra fees or can charge a variable rate based on actual weight plus fees. They will charge a high flat rate, plus fees. They also damaged my furniture, were told to pay me for the damages and now refuse to do so. They will not respond to my emails, and the last time I called them, they hung up on me. In all, I lost over $800 due to their scams, plus a whole lot of stress and sleepless nights from worrying. more

Dishonest, poor communication and unreliable 7/9/2010

I chose Sky Moving based solely on the ‘glowing’ reviews at MyMoverReviews website. Had I researched the mostly-negative reviews of this company in other websites, I’d have avoided them like the plague. They were dishonest, unreliable and didn’t care about customers.\r \r When I spoke with Shiri of Sky Moving, she told me to give her – on the spot - an inventory of all the items to be moved. That should have been a red flag, because one of the things that set apart reliable, quality-service movers from crappy ones is how they take inventory. The former either give you a list on paper to itemize (to be sent back to them), or send a representative over to do inventory. On-the-spot verbal inventory is a sure sign of crappy service. It is also very inaccurate because one cannot remember everything every time. For me, there were items I forgot to include and didn’t realize it till much later.\r \r According to Sky’s quotation, the rates were based on weight and had a “Tariff Discount”. Never heard of “Tariff Discount”. I guessed it was intended to give the false impression that Sky provided the ‘lowest’ rate. It sure looked that way on paper. However, the quotation didn’t matter. Because Sky wasn’t the one that came by to do the moving. The one that did showed up went by a completely different rate and led to a much higher cost. \r \r I called Sky again on June 17 to reaffirm the address, date and transport vehicle (smaller than semi-truck). A man on the other line reaffirmed it all. Sunday, June 27 came. Waited till late afternoon, but no phone call from the driver as promised by Shiri. I left two messages on the office phone, in part expressing my concern that no driver was going to show up. Then at 7pm, a woman (#512-981-9417) called to tell me that a driver named Bobby would be coming the next day (Monday). She gave me his number (after I asked her for it), from which I called him. He told me – over two calls – that our items would be picked up on Monday and delivered on Tuesday. Wish I had read the reviews…Notice there only 5 star postings and 1 star postings. Wow that says it all. Scam artists.\r So here's how my nightmare unfolds. They were to show up on Wednesday but, the driver never made it. Thursday, nothing, no driver. Thursday night, 8:30 pm, the driver (Eastern Euro and Rastafarian man)they are going to load in the dark? I'm not getting a good feeling. I call my neighbors to help the driver, in the dark and in the rain. It seems like an omen.\r The driver dinks forever filling out forms. It’s 10 pm and he starts demanding more moneyI said forget it and take my stuff of the truck, I was finished with Sky Movers! Wish I had followed my instincts. \r Previously, I had taken pictures, labeled and inventoried all my boxes on the outside, to lock in on an exact quote with Sky Movers. The driver came back after talking to HQ and agreed upon quoted price. I should have taken my belongings off the truck…\r Now the nightmare begins. My phone calls and emails went unanswered for over a week, wondering when they would be delivered. I’ve now figured they took my cash (“cash only or western union,” they want untraceable money) they had my credit card number (now needs to be cancelled) and had scammed me out of my stuff. I starting reading reviews about SM and it seemed I was never going to see my things again. \r After two weeks of begging for my belongings, I got a call early Friday morning from a dispatcher stating the driver is coming up from Houston and will be there by lunch time. I really thought a lot of my boxes would be missing, opened, damaged, etc. But, I was too happy, I was going to get some of it. I waited all day and no Sky Movers again. I guess it was too good to be true. \r Now it’s Saturday morning, 16 days later and a driver calls at 10 am and says he’ll be at my place in 30 minutes. WHAT? I’m not home, you got to be kidding me…after scrambling around I told him I could meet him at noon. A different driver (non English speaking Latin of some sort,) a non Sky Movers truck, show up at 1 and demands I pay cash before he takes the boxes off the truck. I was livid but, what was I going to do. I paid him, got out my inventory sheets and cried again at the condition of my belongings. I had so much damage it goes on and on….just like all the 1 star posters state, just don’t…please don’t…you mustn’t use them…or you’ll have your own nightmare. From start to finish, our moving experience with sky Moving and Storage was absolutely exceptional. Every facet of the move was impeccably handled with ability, competence, and incredibly hard work (Our new apartment is a 6th floor walk-up.) They provided extra boxes and tape when we ran out, helped to pack what we hadn't finished before they arrived, and dismantled and reassembled several pieces of furniture. When we unexpectedly hit a snag that caused us a 20 minute delay, Joe and his team took it in stride, handling the problem with grace and professionalism. I was very impressed with sky moving & I recommend them to all Google’s.? more

Excellent Service and Price?? 1/25/2010

I had a 5 bedroom home in the Miami area of FL and I was moving to a 4 bedroom but larger home in South Carolina due to my retiring, the need to be by family, get more for my money and relax at this point in time of my life. A friend who used sky moving and storage. He used them to move to Georgia from Miami and then back to Miami again. Anyway, I had moved in the past from apartments to apartments and from my last apt to my home in Miami so I'm familiar with Movers. The manager, told me the company had years of experience and that they have other business and sometimes people confuse them all, apparently Moving and Storage is just one of their Businesses. They told me that once they give me a quote, that is the price, period, no changes, no surprise endings. As long as what I tell them was truthful. As I began to describe all that I had. They said they needed to come by and view it in person. David came to my home and took inventory of everything and suggested ways for me to pack in order to keep the cost down. i.e.: Boxes not Bags. And suggested wrapping etc. and they can get these materials, if needed, at very reasonable prices. As I thought about all the work I would have to do, I asked them if they do packing as well and they said YES. So I had them do it and move it. They sent some people to pack days earlier and it took those two days to pack. I think it would have taken me two weeks. Fortunately I had a month from the date I originally called them. Nevertheless, we planned everything step by step in order to time the packing and to be able to move me next day. It all went smoothly. My favorite part was how they wrapped my furniture. My dining hutch, fragile wood armoire and my white couch was wrapped in blankets and super sized plastic wrap along with some other valuable items. I have never seen that done before. I flew into Columbia SC and met them at my new place. They unloaded everything where I told them to, unwrapped the furniture and cleaned up the plastic and paper and left. That was so stress free, I was so pleased. Other Note: I paid for the materials and the packing services separately, of which they gave me a quote for, also well before hand. That gave me time to check out places like Public Storage/ Post Office / Lowes and other packing places and they were indeed very affordable on the materials. I was told the cost upfront and I had no changes or surprises upon delivery. (No extra cost for the plastic and blanket wrapping- that was standard and included in their move cost/quote). more

Professional Scammers 1/25/2010

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SCAMMER. Above all, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER (they will make unauthorized charges on it). They are professionals, they have taken many people. They already have a lien (lawsuit won against them) filed with the State on their company for $750,000.00. DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOOD REVIEWS THEY ARE WRITTEN BY THE COMPANY ITSELF TO COVER UP THE BAD HONEST REVIEWS. The company writes endless excellent reviews to up their ratings and to fool honest people. Their pattern is to give you a low quote, then show up late, very late, (so that you are in a desperate situation) to put your stuff on the truck. They hope you will have no choice but to allow them to take your stuff. They will very, very forcefully demand that you sign the paperwork they present you with. This paper work has wording in it that allows them to charge you more then you agreed on, much more. They will tell you that you have more stuff then originally thought and it will cost you more. DO NOT SIGN THE PAPERWORK, DO NOT LET THEM LOAD YOUR STUFF!!! Because once they have your stuff they will hold it hostage and demand a lot more money. They have been know to hold things for more then 6 months. They have been know to deliver only part of the stuff. They have been know to lose stuff and to horrible damage stuff. THEY HAVE MADE UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES TO PEOPLE'S CREDIT CARDS. RESEARCH THE REVIEWS CAREFULLY AND NOTE THAT THE BAD REVIEWS ARE CONSISTENT WITH THIS PATTERN. Wonder which reviews to believe: A company cannot have extremely poor and extremely excellent reviews with nothing in between. People are quick to let others know if their moving experience is bad, very bad, but they usually do not let others know that their moving experience went as expected. Sky Moving and storage gave me a good service 1/20/2010

When I had to move from Lafayette IN to Little Rock I put in a fair amount of research into getting a good moving company after all I had heard numerous horror stories from my friends who had a lot of their stuff damaged in the process of moving. So I filled out an online request and researched the three companies that contacted me first. Of the three I found Sky Moving and Storage to be the most reliable and with a solid reputation also they gave me a better price than the others. They came to pick up my stuff on time, did the packaging for us and did not change the quote after all the things were packed. Also they delivered my things on time and safely. Moving is never fun, but with David and his crew at sky moving and storage, it went as well as could be hoped. They were very accurate with their estimates of time and cost for the move, showed up on time, and took care of everything. They were very efficient at packaging all the delicate items, and happy to take care of any odd items, things that needed to be disassembled, or things we had forgotten to pack. more

I have nothing but praises for their crew. My move was a bit complicated. I moved my apartment and had two stops on the way to pick up a bedroom set that my parents gave me and an old heavy big screen my friend was throwing away after he got himself a shiny new plasma. His trash, my sales. Kim explained to me that my plan to start the day at my parents house before moving on to pick up my stuff, it wasn?t advisable because there?s this thing called double drive time in moving, and it will be advisable to arrange my pick ups and drop offs in one short straight geographical line. She said they?ll do whatever I prefer, but I was glad she pointed it out and change plans with my mom accordingly, and saved a few good bucks. The crew they sent was outstanding. They came energized and just worked hard for me. Truly appreciated. more

I used sky moving company for my local move here in Orlando FL. I had a very good experience starting with the sales person (Claudia) all the way to the movers and operations personnel. The moving team arrived on time and packed up everything from my 4 bed room townhome and delivered it to my new home and set everything up within the first 5 hours. In addition, they delivered my old refrigerator to my friend and old washer and dryer to a temple. The entire team of three people was very accommodating, caring and professional. When they say ""no hidden charges"", they really mean it. I got charged for exactly what they quoted as hourly charges. I will recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat more
