Very Disappointing Brunch 1/23/2011

I have heard lots of good things about this place, but the brunch was exceedingly disappointing and very expensive. There were really so very few items to choose from for a buffet. Only eggs were an omelet station. The carving station had a poor piece of beef and nothing else. No salad bar...pretty much a given at a buffet. The $24 champagne brunch was TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY!! And, the mimosas cost an extra $2-4 each! So much for a champagne brunch at $24!! I brought someone for their birthday and sent a message with my reservation for it...they did nothing. Not even a happy birthday was uttered. Go to the Garden Terrace at the Inverness to experience a true breakfast buffet. more

AMAZING! 1/3/2011

I don't normally write reviews but after my recent experience at Simms Steakhouse I have too! This place was amazing! I went a few years ago when it was still Simms Landing and it was just ok. The new decor and menu are great! The servers were all very friendly and made great suggestions. Great view of Denver too. It is a bit pricey, but I don't mind spending that kind of money now and then when the food and service are as good as they were. I noticed the manager made it a point to visit every table to ensure everyones meal was cooked to their liking. The tuna appetizer was delicious! I ordered the mahi mahi which was to good to even try to describe. My date ordered the filet minion which was also very good but was missing the bacon wrapping that she loves. Dessert we ordered the souffle, which as our waitor described correctly as cotton candy for adults! It was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten! The only reason I didn't give it a a full five stars is because they don't seem to have a coat rule. I am sorry Denver but dress up a little when you go to a nice resturant! It tends to kill the mood when you are seated next to some jacka$$ that doesn't feel like putting on some sort of dress cloths and is sitting there in jeans and a flannel shirt! It isn't just this resturant that I have noticed this in, seems like just about every fancy resturant in the city is like this anymore. more

Too much money for the experience 3/24/2010

I am always willing to pay top dollar for a great meal but Simms seems to have put all their talent into the decor and not the kitchen. I have been three times and every time the vegetables were almost raw to the point it took a steak knife to cut into a carrot, the steaks came out cold but the plates were hot (don't understand that). I hope they can pull it together and get some variety to their sides and menu - we hope to one day go back and be able to enjoy the atmosphere and the meal! Pros: Nice Atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

Pasitively Charming! 2/26/2010

We have been wanting to eat here ever since some friends recommended it to us. We have been recommended to many restaurants, but none have quite lived up to our expectations, that is until Simms Steakhouse! What a lovely experience. Starting with the warm and inviting decor, on to the wonderful service with, coincidentally, Alex 'with the beard' (see review below). We were so pleased with all of Alex's wonderful recommendations. I'm a vegetarian, as well as gluten intolerant, but Alex was able to give me an awesome variety of recommendations none the less. His wine recommendation was also outstanding, and went wonderfully with our entrees. We like to take our time when eating out, so the fact that Alex never rushed us, but instead engaged us in lovely conversation was very refreshing. I would highly recommend Simms Steakhouse, and to ensure your experience was as wonderful as ours ask for Alex 'with the beard'! Pros: Lovely Variety, Wonderful Service & Charming Decor more

Enjoyed! 2/25/2010

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at Simms and our waiter Alex (with the beard) was a huge bonus to our night out!! Ask for Alex!! Pros: Great Meal, Wonderful Waiter! more

WOW Experience 2/24/2010

My husband and i are new to the Denver area, we were told to get outside of the Denver city limits to really enjoy the view, well we ended up at Simms Steakhouse. This place had the ambiance instills a feeling of eligance and the staff was very professional, yet down to earth, made it easy to trust their suggestions on the menu and really enjoy ourselves. We started with the Scallop appetizer, it was light yet flavorful. Next I was temped by the lobster bisque. For my entree I enjoyed the petite filet with the king crab oscar, accompanied by the potatoes au gratin! sooooo goooooodddd!!! The filet just about melted in my mouth. The management was very friendly and invited us back to enjoy happy hour, monday through friday with great deals on their lounge food. Over all it was truely a great experience one that I'm glad we moved to Denver to get to enjoy!\r \r Thank you! Pros: The view, the food, the service Cons: i don't have any more

Never Write Reviews but Taking for Simms! 2/24/2010

I never take the time to write reviews, but feel it necessary regarding Simms Steakhouse! I've eaten at Simms 4 times in the last few months and every time has been quite enjoyable. I've found the staff to be very friendly and the food to be consistently wonderful! I'm a fan of a great filet and that is what I've been served every time...the pear and blue cheese salad with pecans is another favorite that I crave! I would definitely recommend Simms to friends and family! more

fantastic place for a great time & great food 2/24/2010

I had the pleasure of eating at Simms on Valentines Day and it was fantastic! It was the 2nd time I have dined there under the new management/ menu and both times we had a great experience. Our service was wonderful, the decor beautiful and my favorite dish was the East Meets West Tuna Appetizer! YUM! Can't wait to go back! I can only imagine how fantastic it has to be sitting outside and overlooking downtown Denver from they deck in the summer enjoying they amazing dishes. Pros: best tuna, great service..... more

Worst Experience EVER~!!!!~ 2/15/2010

My husband made reservations a week prior to Valentines Day for 5 so when we get there @ 450 and check in the girl says it's going to be a few minutes, after waiting 15 more minutes my husband tells her our reservation was @ 5. The manager or whoever takes us to our table and blurts out O YOUR FLOWERS CAME BUT THERE WAS A LEAK SO ONE OF OUR BUS BOYS IS OUT GETTING A NEW VASE, instead of using discretion and taking my husband aside he said it right in front of me...needless to say my husband was furious when he could have taken him aside when we arrived there so it could have still been a surprise. Now to the food...I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was like eating rubber, the cream sauce was so watered down and the pasta was sticky that I had to send it back. The waiter wasn't very nice after we told him we only wanted soda and not a 200 dollar bottle of wine. I will never eat there again~!!!!~ and will never suggest it to anyone HORRIBLE HORRIBLE which is sad since their sister place The Chart House was the best place ever~!! It doesnt even deserve the rats~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~ what a waste of money, time and effort. The manager should be FIRED~! Pros: The view Cons: Everything else more

Simms Steakhouse 10/30/2009

It appears that all of these ratings are for Simms Landing, which is now Simms Steakhouse. The decor is new and chic, creating a wonderful ambience with spectacular views of the city. The food is much improved, but there is still room for some improvement and the staff is wonderful! Apparently the GM of Simms Landing was not well liked (according to reviews; never met him) but the new Simms Steakhouse GM is extremely hands on and accomodating. \r \r Highly recommend! more

Confused 11/19/2008

I must say I'm confused by the negativity in the previous reviews . I've been going to Simms for ten years . The service has always been impeccable and the food wonderful. My mother has special food allergies and Chef Chris even came to the table to discuss a special dish with her. I have never had any other restaurant do that. Pros: The Chef more

Wonderful view, delicious food... 5/28/2008

My family and I were visiting Denver for a long weekend, and my husband found this place in a magazine with a list of restaurants. We were staying across the street at the Sheridan, so for us it was very convienient. We went there and the view was unbelievable. We were seated promptly and the restaurant was beautiful. It was dimly lit so you could completely enjoy the view. For starters, we ordered the Simms Crab Cakes. They were delicious!! Those crab cakes were probably the best I've had in a very long time. My 3 year old even enjoyed them!! Next, my husband ordered the Prime Rib with a baked potato, we ordered a grilled cheese and fries (for my 3 year old), and I ordered the Shrimp Tempura. I ordered a Caesar salad with my entree, and I had to share it with my husband it was so huge. The dressing on the salad was superb! My husband enjoyed his prime rib, and the shrimp tempura was delicious, with a wonderful sauce to accompany the vegetables. They also had a good selection of desserts, but we were so stuffed we didn't get to try a dessert, but they looked scrumptious. When we go back to Denver, Simms Landing is definitely a place we will be eating at again!! YUMMY! Pros: Beautiful view, romanitc, wonderful food Cons: Tables were a little too fancy for small children more

Great happy hour, mostly good food 5/8/2008

I recently went to dinner with my coworkers at Simms Landing. We arrived at 5:30 so we sat on the patio for happy hour. Happy hour specials are great with $4.50 (maybe $4.95) apps, including a half dozen oysters and $2 to $2.50 drinks (wine, well, draft Coors Light). The oysters were great and the artichoke dip was not so great, a bit runny and needed a bit of spice.\r \r When our party arrived we went into the dining room for dinner. The view for dinner was great as was the view for happy hour on the patio. The sourdough bread was wonderful, the salads were pretty good. We ordered six entrees and satisfaction varied. The people who ordered red meat were not overly impressed while those who ordered seafood or chicken were happy. I had the Sea Bass Napoleon and it was outstanding. The dessert tray is very tempting with a lot of great choices. We settled on the Tiramisu. The espresso and cappuccino were also very good.\r \r Overall, a very good place to go to for seafood. The views are beautiful and the happy hour was very reasonable. more

WONDERFUL WEDDING or RECEPTION PLACE! 10/20/2007

My husband and I searched long and hard to find an establishment to hold our wedding reception a couple of months ago. After looking at what seemed like a hundred places, we finally settled on Simms Landing. Simms Landing has an absolutely GORGEOUS room they call the ""Quarter Deck"" where they host private parties and banquets. This is where we chose to have our reception for many reasons. the first reason, of course, was the incredible view. From the Quarter Deck (and the rest of the restaurant) Simms Landing has the most spectacular view of the Denver skyline I have ever seen. And surprisingly, the room rental fee was only $150 for the entire night! We are talking about a room that has a fireplace, is surrounded on all four sides with glass, the beautiful view, and sliding glass doors that open out to an equally large and impressive patio which shares the view.\r \r On the night of our reception, we were very nervous as is expected, we wanted our night to be perfect in every way! The thing we were most confident about, however, was that the banquet manager at Simms Landing knew exactly how important this night was, had planned with us to the very last detail, and would make sure that everything would be just how we dreamed. Well, IT WAS! Actually, it was even more beautiful, romantic, and special than we had dreamed. When we got there, the servers-who were amazing by the way- were eagerly waiting for us and immediately began taking care of everyone. They made sure that our delicious hors deuvres were on the tables, our guests had fine wine and cocktails, and even the kids had kids cups with straws! The whole night was magical. We used the quarter deck and the lower patio, so we all could stroll inside and outside, looking at the view and the stars, candles were lit everywhere, the room was decorated exactly like we wanted it, the food was unbelievably good, and our needs were exceeded in every way by the service. \r \r THANK YOU SIMMS LANDING!! Pros: superior service, great food, great value, perfect special occasion place Cons: can't think of any! more
