The only gun range I feel comfortable going to 5/15/2011

I shoot at the Shoot Straight store in Tampa with my husband & girlfriend at least once a month. We have never seen anyone mistreated, in fact it is the only gun range I feel comfortable going to. Sometimes I bring my 2 small children while hubbie shoots, they love to walk around and look at the animals. We don't have a lot of guns, more because of budget than desire, but when we do plan to buy it will most likely be there. more

Gunsmith was really helpful and friendly 5/12/2011

The employees I talk to are all really nice and will take plenty of time to show you guns and explain anything you want to know about. Once a friend was having trouble with a rifle and the gunsmith was really helpful and friendly, as well. I go there to shoot regularly, and especially love that they have ladies' night on Mondays so I don't even have to pay range fees. There sure aren't many places where you can find 100-yard indoor rifle ranges. I just wish there were more than three lanes. more

Gotta check them out 4/13/2011

I heard about the negative posts so I had to jump in here. I've been dealing with Shoot Straight for over 10 years, at the Gun Show, in Apopka & more recently in Tampa. They have always dealt with me fairly & respectfully. Reading a lot of the negatives, they seem to be from people not even from Tampa and all about one guys bad experience. They have a great selection, stuff you dont see everywhere & they always deal on the prices. I will continue to recommend Shoot Straight to my friends & family. Try them out before you make your mind up. After reading these negatives I assure you it will be a pleasant surprise. more

Worth the travel 4/13/2011

I'm shocked by these negative reviews! I've been going to shoot straight by the fairgrounds for almost 3 yrs now and they've always treated me right, courteous & professional. Prices aren't always the lowest, but they always come down to be competitive. I've bought a few guns from them, although it's a bit of a drive form the coast. A lot of you guys seem to be knocking them having never been there or done business with them. I do wish they would A/C the range. Brutally hot during the summer... Still great selection & good people. I'll keep doing business with em. more

Lying Cheats 4/12/2011

A friend of mine was jerked around by these guys for a couple of years. He was lied to and strung along as long as he kept spending money. When he realized he was getting screwed and began to back away, they just shafted him. After returning a malfunctioning pistol, they supposedly sent it to the factory for replacement. He hasn't yet received a pistol back, nor a refund, and he just gets the blow-off from the shop. Don't do business with these guys. more

Neutral opinion 4/12/2011

Prices are higher than what an experienced gun buyer can find with not a lot of effort. Customer service appears to be good at first, but dries up quickly once they have your money. Do not expect them to side with you in a dispute with a manufacturer. Edit to add: in response to all the negative reviews, the president of Shoot Straight has contacted Mr. Savage, and is making things right to the satisfaction of both parties. Unfortunately, it took some fairly extreme measures to bring about a satisfactory outcome. Having spent large amounts of money with Shoot Straight in the past, one would have thought Mr. Savage would have received better treatment in the first place. Rating is changed from 1 to 3 stars to reflect neutral opinion of this business. more

A friend of mine spent thousands of dollars at this shop and when he had a defect with a product they jacked him around for two years and refused to replace his purchase. Thanks (for nothing) also to H&K. I will never buy from either of you! more

Lied to, cheated and ripped off....... 4/11/2011

All readers must read the reviews over at tampabay.citysearch.com\r \r There are dozens of horror stories and a post about how i was lied to, cheated out of and ultimately personally attacked online by the owner for making a negative review. My family and friends have all stepped up to tell the truth. If you like overpriced, arrogant sales people and ownership and absolutely no customer service then this place is for you. A friend of mine bought a firearm from this shop and had lots of trouble getting it fixed. Very disappointed to hear about a shop that won't work with customers and won't make things right. more

Stay away! Management will treat you like garbage all from the luxury of a segway. ive personally seen people get screwed over and heard the owners laughing about it! Just find somewhere else to shop. more
