Best

Me and my friends eat out a lot and there none better for the money. The Filet Mignon is some of the best in the city. Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: Finding a tab...

Worst

The food is simply not as flavorful or as well seasoned as Shiki; plus, the menu lacks the variety of shiki. I enjoy a good steakhouse but also like the option of sushi or teriya...

Horrible Customer Service! 2/27/2012

Well let's start with the Chef. He was very boring and did not speak to us at all. Our waitress was horrible. We had to refill our own drinks by going to the Hostess stand. That happened on more than once. Try three times. Then the waitress lost the credit card for payment. She had no clue that she had even taken the payment. It was just horrible all the way around. more

Great special dinner location 1/5/2012

Our family has enjoyed Shoguns in Oklahoma City from the time it was located on N. Portland to its present home in the Northpark Mall, and have always enjoyed our dining experience there. We have made it our anniversary tradition. Shogun's holds a quiet, peaceful ambience to encourage a pleasant experience with its ""hibachi in the round"" format. A party of two can expect to be seated with 1 to 6 other guests, although most recently we had a table to ourselves amid an otherwise busy restaurant. Shogun's special ginger salad dressing is good, but it does take some getting used to if you're accustomed to a thick ranch-style variety. We also upgrade from steamed rice to ham-fried, and splurge on the extra shrimp appetizer which is always beautifully cooked. We typically order the Samurai Special, which is a steak and chicken combination dinner. Steaks are cooked precisely as ordered, and most of the chefs are more than capable of putting on an entertaining show. That said, we have had one or two instances over the years where a decided novice was at the helm, leaving the show lacking, and the fried rice under-seasoned, which was a little disappointing. But that's the exception, not the rule. Our most recent visit last December was delightful and in keeping with our best prior Shogun experiences. With consistently good food, pleasant service, and rich atmosphere, we have no hesitation recommending Shogun's to anyone looking for a departure from what might be deemed more conventional Oklahoma City restaurant offerings. Enjoy! more

Reservations mean what? 2/7/2010

A group of 25 of us went to Shoguns for a birthday party and had made reservations weeks in advance for the event. Shoguns called us the afternoon of the event to confirm our reservation but when we showed up (on time!) we found out that our tables weren't even available. We waited an hour and ten minutes until we complained enough to have all of us squeeze into two small tables. Even then, our original tables were still occupied by the same people that were there over an hour ago. After dinner, we spoke with the manager who had the audacity to blame that night's unfortunate events on us. After we turned his argument against him he just gave a non-sincere ""i'm sorry"" and walked off. Other than that, the food was pretty good. The chefs only do a few tricks at the end which was a little disappointing but they were very nice. My suggestion, take your money to another Japanese steakhouse. Ensure that you'll have a great experience for the amount of money you pay. Pros: good food Cons: management, courtesy, do not adhere to reservations more

Two Thumbs down and no stars 2/4/2010

To talk about the food - The beef and onion soup tasted like it came from a packet. Miso soup would be a better idea. The salad dressing was runny and bland. The chef was boring. The waitress overcompensated by filling my wifes drink up before it was 1/3 empty. To top it all off we got overcharged by $20 for the meal. The manager (i guess who ever answers the phone first) David tells me they only charged the ticket amount and their books added up correctly at the close of business. My credit card company states they credited Shogun's for $111 and David states he only sees $91 and there's nothing left to do. Even if they credit the $20 we will never go back. Sumo's in Edmond is 5 star's next to Shogun's. *** Stay away, stay far away.*** Pros: Waitress kept the drinks filled Cons: Overcharged on my credit card more

WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER! 8/3/2009

I have eaten at Shogun many, many times. My experience has proven to me that this restaurant has really gone down hill. Half of my food ended up on the floor and the table. The chef- if you can actually call him that did not know what he was doing and certainly did not put on the show you should receive with your dinner. Our waitress was awful as well I had to go to the bar three times to get my soda and water refilled. The fried rice was crunchy, and the chef only put one egg in there for a table of 9 people. When I visited with the manager on duty, Bob, he seemed to not really care. If anyone would like to see the pictures I took with my phone of my dinner that I paid full price for all over the table and the floor behind the chef drop me a note. I will not be returning to this restaurant to say the least. Pros: The food that they don't drop on the table and floor Cons: Way to many to list...... more

Not as good as Shiki 4/4/2009

The food is simply not as flavorful or as well seasoned as Shiki; plus, the menu lacks the variety of shiki. I enjoy a good steakhouse but also like the option of sushi or teriyaki, etc., that Shogun doesn't offer. I love the atmosphere, but the food just isn't worth the $20 per plate... Pros: Nice staff, talented Chef Cons: Taste, lack of selection more

BEST JAPANESE STEAKHOUSE!!! My favorite restaurant! 9/18/2008

I have been to every Japanese steakhouse in OKC and Norman....even a couple in Houston. And I always say...this isn't as good as Shogun. The food is excellent and never (never ever) had a bad meal there! They used to be in a shabby part of town (years ago) but they have moved to a better location and the atmosphere was greatly improved! Our family always goes here for special occasions--this is our favorite restaurant!!!!! Pros: food; environment; service; Cons: limited menu options compared to other places more
