Shively Towing & Recovery

DO NOT USE !!!! RIP OFF !!! They should lose their contract with the city for unfair practices. A Korean War veteran was recently in a terrible car wreck that destroyed his car and put he and his wife in intensive care. His wife may not make out of the hospital. We have tried to recover items from his car that he needs and is very important at this time to his recovery and self worth to no avail. Shivley towing first said we have to get a notary to sign papers to allow family to retrieve his crutches, walker and important items, after doing everything they ask for they tell us they are closed on weekends. I personally talked to them twice to make sure I could get these important items from his car. They never mention they are closed on weekends by phone or on the web needless to say they will not release the items until the following week while the car sits and cost more money each day. I appealed to the obese rude lady behind the desk but it did no good. I guess to add to his stress he gets to buy new crutches and walker while they enjoy their weekends. My car was towed on a Saturday so I couldn't pick it up until Monday, which wasn't the problem, but I did have to pay a $75 holding fee plus other additional charges. After the fees were payed I went to my car and the keys were left in the ignition and were turned to where only the battery would power the car. The keys were left like this for two days and of course my car battery had died. The workers walk out to your car and tell you they can jump start your car for an extra $15. My battery was a DieHard and only 6 months old so I knew it was still good so I checked the two cars next to mine that had been there for 3-5 days and what do you know? Neither car would start. This place nickel and dimes you like crazy so bring some jumper cables with you. more

I was in an auto accident on a Friday night close to midnight. I was the only one in my car, and toted to the ER in an ambulance. An officer came to the hospital and told me that my car had been taken to the City Impound. On Saturday Morning when returning home, we called, and they said my car had been taken to Shively Towing. My husband called Shively towing and they said that they were closed on the weekend, and that we would have to come on Monday. Today is Monday, and they said that our car would be $150 because we left it in over the weekend! I am highly pist. The officer told us that it was taken to city impound, and could be picked up at no charge! ARGGGGGGGGGGHHH> The customer service at Shively was horrible, and they charged us ignorant fees. We didn't even give them permission to pick up our car, nor did the police. Cons: aggressive customer service, not professional COST ridiculous more

Mosby's Wrecker Service (AKA Charlie's Wrecker Serviceand Shively Towing) consistently have long waiting times (3-4 hours) before they are available. The last time I called them at 6:45 pm, and they said it would be 3 hours. I called again at 9:15 pm for an ETA, and they said it would be 1 hour. I called again at 11:20 pm. They had misplaced the original call slip, but then found it. I arranged for the tow at 10:30 am the next day. They did not show up, and they did not call. I called, and they claimed to have no record of my previous calls. I asked to speak to a manager or owner. I was told he was not there. I asked when he would be. The receptionist did not know, but then the manager or owner picked up the phone, yelled at me, and then hung up. Cons: rude, long wait, no show more
