I just wanted to say what a great experience we had at Shady Oak Veterinary Clinic.\r \r My wife and I got a new Whippet puppy and the breeder recommended Dr. Barb at Shady Oak Veterinary Clinic as she is a Whippet owner as well as a veterinarian.\r \r Very clean and spacious clinic. Smooth and informative visit. Dr. Barb definitely knows Whippets. She helped us understand the breed and took care of our new little guy. more

Wonderful vet experience. Helpful, friendly, and communicative. Their compassion and help they gave my beagle, Lilly, was amazing. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/19/2012

Worst clinic and staff ever. They make poor diagnosis, and even worse attempt surgies they have no experience with. Our dog had a horrendous day in their ""clinic"". We were not charged any money for two days of visits. Why, you may ask, because they were totally wrong and knew it. It's rare when a vet clinic gives you a two day at no charge, unless of course they realized their own incompetence. more

My wife and I have had dogs as part of our family all our lives, as children ourselves and thru our 46 years of marriage... We've used many vets over the years, some good, some not so good. We're now very happy we've found Dr. Sharon, Dr. Barb and the staff at Shady Oak. They are, hands down, among the very best. Friendly and helpful, they spend time with you to understand your problem and concerns. They explain the treatment needed and the options. Finally, they always follow up after your visit. On your first visit you'll know they sincerely care about you and your pet. Their compassion shows in the way they handle your pet, and the way your pet responds to them. Shhhh... don't tell everybody - I don't want a long line! more

Worst business ever! 4/16/2012

Don't ever use SHADY OAK VET! they are by far the worst business I've ever dealt with... My dog had surgery there because his neuter was infected when we got him, so they had to put in new stitches... Long story short, when I dropped him off, they couldn't find his file so they just wrote my number on a piece of scratch paper to call me after his surgery. I dropped him off at 8am, I was there before they even opened and they did not start his surgery until 5pm. they gave me no discharge instructions or invoice when I picked him up and when I asked the girl said ""I don't know I didn't work with him"" My husband called the next day and we found out we were supposed to come back in 10 days to have the stitches removed because they were not disolvable, but I was not told that when I asked at the vet. So we brought him back got the stitches out and now about a month later....... I just found another stitch in him!!!! They also gave him a booster he didn't need and charged us for it... So we had to get our money back for that too... What a unbelieveable experience. Never dealt with a worse, more unorganized business than this one. If I could rate this 0 stars I would because 1 star is more than this place deserves. more

LoLa Thunder found her forever vet! 5/22/2011

Just rescued/adopted a 5 month old Lab/Mix puppy from Underdog Rescue. Took her to see Dr. Michelle for her free, yes, free Wellness Check Up. LoLa was impressed with all the dogs she made friends with but she really appreciated how gentle, calm and kind Dr. Michelle was to her. Dr. Michelle was very thorough. And LoLa felt compelled to be cooperative. Thanks ever so much! We will be recommended Dr. Michelle to everyone! more

Amazing people, amazing care. 11/9/2010

Our boxer was diagnosed with lymphoma, which was absolutely devastating. Dr. Barb was our vet, and Marlo was our vet tech. Immediately, we were given all of our options. Dr. Barb met with us in person (at no cost) on a Saturday morning to tell us about treatment options. more

Talent - compassion - application 6/30/2010

Our two dogs are fairly healthy - but when calamity strikes, we consider these folks the Mayo Clinic for dogs, without all the stupid gowns and pointy heads. Recently our Beagle dropped in for a sore foot - he and I received a post-grad course in options and probable causes. That - plus the right meds - cleared up the issue. . Later issue with a mass on the leg that needed to be removed was handled like the Pope getting gall bladder out. Pros: Describe top vets in your world - these are them! more

The best clinic ever - I have brought cats and dogs 11/17/2009

Dr Barb and Dr Linda are fantastic and so are the receptionists. My friend raved about them and after I took my cat there I switched to them. I'm not easily sold but I have to say they are awesome and I would trust them with my animals any time. I have brought 2 cats and now my dog. I trust them - that's the bottom line. Pros: Super kind and smart from Vet to Receptionists more

Could have been better! 10/8/2009

I brought my cat to this clinic and two days later I had to have the same procedure done again at another clinic because they did not monitor my cat during recovery. This was told to me by the clinic themselves! This trip cost me over $500 and $300 more to fix it somewhere else! Once the procedure was finished they put my cat in his Kennel, called me and made me leave work early to come and get him. When I called to tell them he was still having the problem, they said to give him more pain killers. If I wouldn't have brought him somewhere else, his kidneys would have failed. They have been so rude about the whole situation. All I have to say is, go at your own risk! I love my cat like my baby and I don't want this to happen to someone else! Pros: Nice at first Cons: Did not follow through on care more

Best Vet Clinic Ever 10/6/2009

Dr. Barb and her wonderful team of amazing pet lovers make even the hardest situation tolerable. They had taken care of my dog since he was a baby up until his passing and I couldn't have imagined better care for my family member. This clinic is the absolute best. They are respectul, compassionate, and empathetic. more

We MISS everyone. THE BEST VET CLINIC IN THE WORLD!! 10/1/2009

This place is amazing! They are all like Family to us. Starting from Maggie to Karen to Judy to Dr. Barb....the whole staff at Shady Oak Vet. I'm writing in to say how much we miss all of you. We've been in California for a little over a year and have tried 2 vet clinics. They do NOT COMPARE to Dr. Barb and team. Our animals are our ""kids"" and they had taken care of every single pet we've ever had and when we moved I stressed out more about who would be their new care givers when they need it. THANK YOU for the 8 years of love & care you gave our furry kids. We wish you guys would all move to California:) It's much warmer here, you know?? Keep on being the super wonderful animal loving people that you are! more

Amazing vet clinic 6/9/2009

I am very impressed with this clinic. After working with several clinics through rescue, I can honestly say my best experience has been here. I have a rescue pitbull who is scared of going up on the table for exams, so instead the doctor brought a warm pad down to the floor and examined her on her hands and knees! Everything they do is for the animals. I highly recommend this vet clinic; my small and large dogs both love it. Pros: Best vet care in the cities at an acceptable cost! Cons: Not the most convenient location more

These vets love pets! 2/12/2009

We recently bought an puppy from a foster rescue in Minneapolis and when it came time to bring him in for his second round of shots (because he was 11 weeks old) I wasn't sure who to go to. I have friends and family with vets around the Cities, but no one seemed especially impressed by their vet - plus I wanted to go somehwere close to where I live. I did some research online and saw some pretty great reviews for the Shady Oak Vet Clinic - all the other vets nearby paled in comparison as far as reviews go. Pros: Great friendly service, affordable, clean, no BS more

Wonderful People, Place & Serivce 2/12/2009

I was recommend to the Shady Oak clinic by my sister. I currently had a vet but once I heard about her wonderful experience I started to think twice about where I currently was going. During my first visit I had many issues with my dog that I wanted to address with Dr. Sharon. The whole staff was great to be around. Dr. Sharon gave great service and a sense of relief to my dogs issues! They are now my new vet and will be telling everyone I know about the wonderful place! Pros: Everything was great! Cons: None! more

The best Dr's in town! TEN STARS 2/12/2009

Dr. Sharon and Dr. Barb are amazing women! Plus, the entire staff is EXCEPTIONAL! I brought my dog in to their office, because my ""regular"" vet was not able to be in the office. I brought my VERY sick dog to Shady Oak without an appointment. The entire staff dropped what they were doing and helped my very sick dog. Dr. Barb thought my dog had a rare disease called Addison's Disease. After being in ICU for a week (and they let me bring her home at night for observation to avoid the high costs of the emergency vet) Dr. Barb saved my dog. The charges were VERY reasonable considering the care and the knowledge of the Dr's and staff. I couldn't recommend this office higher. Can I rate it 10 stars? Thank God there are still honest business people in this world! Pros: reasonable prices, skilled care more

BEST place for small animal care 1/21/2009

As a rodent lover, I have found it difficult to find vets that understand how much I love my pets. The Shady Oak staff is respectful and understanding of all pet owners, not just people with dogs and cats. This is by far the best place to go to take care of your small animals. Highly Highly Recommended! Pros: Loving, respectful of all pet owners Cons: none! more

Absolutely excellent, trusted vet service! 8/19/2008

We've been taking our pets to Dr. Barb for over 15 years because of the caring, highly competent, informative service she provides, and because of her loyal, talented staff, who gladly answer our questions, and call to check on our pets after surgery, etc. Dr. Barb takes the time to help us thoroughly understand our choices, she is empathetic, practical, intrepid, yet efficient at getting to the correct diagnosis and treatment. She has been spot on with her advice on introducing new pets and introducing new babies to pets. The whole staff has also been incredibly sensitive in helping our kids through the deaths of two of our aging pets. Pros: Highly competent, communicative vet, friendly, caring staff overall Cons: None whatsoever more

Wonderful Care 8/7/2008

I have had dogs my whole life and have never been so pleased with the overall service of a vet clinic. The doctors and staff spend as much time with you as you need and go above and beyond recommending treatment options and the best care for your pet. They are not over priced and are very organized. Pros: Caring and reasonable price Cons: old building more
