Scott the owner is all about the money. I was never informed, nor was it mentioned there was no return policy on products. I bought an opened item from the floor and within a few days attempted to return. I was met with defensiveness and outright rude behavior. On the receipt it stated I could not return, but as noted, I was not informed before point of sale and the return policy was actually covered up by the cc receipt he stapled to it (which I believe was intentional given the myriad of other locations to staple the receipt, like the usual top cornet). It is quite unscrupulous to make a sell on an item only to inform the buyer after they are stuck with said purchase. So this is more of a caution of buyer beware. As once Scott has your money he has no interest in keeping you happy. See other reviews with similar experience. His behavior at the mere mention of a return was quite off putting. I will never make a purchase form him again. more

Scott is the worst human being on this planet. Was bitter that I did not purchase an embroidery machine from him. And when I went to have him repair the machine thatwas not purchased through him he said that we wasted his time and he did not appreciate it. I told him it was my business partners call not mine. He said, "" he did not give a hoot"". Soon after he stated that the model I purchased was not under warranty which it was. He took me to the back of the store and my machine was in pieces. He said you can either take the machine in pieces or you can pay me 150$ to reasemble it. He charged me to look at the problem when it was under warranty? That was insane. He then stated that if I take it in pieces he will report me to Brother and get them to void the warranty. WAIT WAIT WAIT!!!!! Didnt he just say that the machine was not under warranty and now it is? The machine was and it was barely a year old. Held my machine hostage until I paid him. I wanted to report him to Brother but to his advantage they were closed on the sunday and did not have time to wait as I really needed to complete my jobs. SO i then took it to another dealer and it they told me it was under warranty and repaired it fast. This guy needs to be taken out of business. He rips people off and acts like a teenager when it comes to business. more

For a long time, I have wanted to learn to quilt and, a couple of months ago, I finally treated myself to a good machine. Jennifer took the time to help me determine the best machine for my needs. I bought the Ellegante 2 and I just love it. With Jennifer’s concise and clear demonstration, I was able to start using it as soon as I got home. To this day, Jennifer is still answering question I may have about quilting and notions. She sure knows how to take care of her customers!\r I am also taking quilting classes at the shop with Louise Rupp. They are so much fun! Louise is very knowledgeable and patient. She knows how to encourage her students and has a great sense of humor.\r Everybody at this store is very courteous and willing to help. It feels like the old fashion type of store where you are always welcomed and treated as a friend.\r more

SHOP HERE IF YOU WANT TO BE CHEATED 4/4/2012

Cindy Bloom on this site is a ringer and does odd jobs for Scott. I paid $15,000.00 for a new 650 PR machine and digitizing program. The machine had 131,000 hours of embroidery time on the machine log and was used and broken. Scott tried to convince me there was something wrong with me not the broken used machine he unloaded on me. Scott was too busy to teach the machine. Obviously it’s impossible to teach on a broken unusable machine Cindy Bloom offered to teach me after 2 hours of leafing through the manual Cindy managed to thread the machine and changed the broken needle. EVER HEAR OF A BROKEN NEEDLE ON A BRAND NEW $13,000 MACHINE?? CINDY TOOK $190.00 OF MY MONEY for her 2 hours of non productive time. I was duped, and Scott believes he can keep my $15,000.00. And I will go away Scott Goodman’s son is an attorney Scott Goodman doesn't worry about being sued. Scott Goodman doesn't believe he can be prosecuted for switching merchandise. If you have experienced the dishonest money grubbing business practices of Scott Goodman you know too well what a thief and liar he is. I'm embarrassed and $15,000.00 poorer for trusting the likes of these 2. It was humiliating and degrading to be so used. Courteous and professional 11/6/2011

I'm a professional long arm quilter and work on five different sewing machines, so have cause to need maintenance, repair and advice on a regular basis. This place is busy (a good sign in my opinion), but I always get the help I need even on a hectic-seeming day. Even regular customers have to wait in line when a store is busy-especially if someone is getting detailed assistance with something complicated like an embroidery machine-this is not Wal-Mart (thank goodness). I live more than an hour away from North Hills and am glad to make the drive for the quality. more

Horrible Experience Compounded by Phone Call 11/5/2011

DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!!! I just got a call from Scott the owner of Sewing Machine Warehouse after I wrote a very poor Yelp review of my experience at his store. He said he called to discuss my review. He referred to me 'alledging' that he and his staff were rude or in error. His own rude behavior he did not acknowledge nor was he interested in the sals associate Jennifer who I had experienced twice as unprofessional. He did state that he found it a pet peve to not be thanked when handing over money in an establishment. As do I. He also said that I was MISTAKEN that he at one point made condescending air quotes to me.. I said I find that hard to believe as I was there and know the difference. He said, ""I did not throw up gang signs or air quotes. "" GANG SIGNS!? He then accused me of choosing to be offended by everyone in the shop. This man is awful and clearly sets the tone of bias and rudeness.! You can read my detailed account of the review that sparked this phone call on Yelp. more

Incredible Products Incredible Service! 10/27/2011

I have shopped all over town and finally found Sewing Machine Warehouse. I was shocked at the range of products, the great prices and the incredible service. The owner, Scott, and his team are incredibly knowledgable about the products and much funnier than any of the competition. I will not be going anywhere else. more

Money Grubbing Schyster 7/23/2011

This store applies it's return policy in an arbitrary manner and the owner (pictured below; 1998-present), Scotty ""got Your Money"" Goodman appears to be a money grubbing shyster. Here is my experience, you be the judge. After being a loyal customer since 1979, the purchase of 4 vacuums, countless belts, bags, and filters. I entered this store to return a couple of small unused items I had purchased last week. Scotty ""Got your Money"", in a rude and obtuse manner, then proceeded to informed me that I was to return the product I purchased at ANOTHER STORE, come back and purchase those products from him, and then he would consider the return items. Way OVER PRICED and arbitrarily capricous and obstinate when dealing with even the loyalist of customers, if you buy anything from this store, you are a fool. more

Great service & great stuff 1/20/2010

This store is an independent store and its owner, Scotty, is extremely knowledgeable and ethical. He provides terrific customer service and I've even gotten a couple of my machines fixed the same day I brought them in. He knows everything about sewing and embroidery machines and will spent a lot of time showing you how to use them properly. His prices are VERY competitive, too. I've bought several machines from him and will be a customer for life. Pros: Great customer service more
