Installed my heat pump, did a great job. Completed in one day.

Worst

I too am very disappointed in this outfit. Similar experience w/ two weak Capacitors. was charged very inflated (almost insulting) charges. Paid $362 for $45 worth of capacitors....

Recently, when Service Experts of Raleigh sent their technician, Ben Olorvida, to diagnose problem with noisy AC/Dehumidifer system, he treated me with the utmost respect when explaining the problem and the necessary repairs that were needed. I was very impressed with Ben's professional manner, wealth of knowledge and expertise which gave me the confidence for him to do the necessary repairs as explained.\r \r Any time we have ever needed attention for our systems, Service Experts were always courteous and promptly sent technicians to address and diagnose the problems----even when problem was discovered and reported after usual business hours. Would not recommend them 10/11/2013

\r 2013 Review --- Well, it's Deja Vu all over again. One year later and I'm in same situation. Heat pump hasn't worked in a week. Had 3 trips from Service Experts and it's still going to be next week before it's fixed.\r \r 2012 Review --- They do a good job selling and installing their equipment but when it comes time to work on it they fail. I've got a 2 year old Lennox system from them and every time it has a problem it takes 3 or 4 visits before they ever find the problem and fix it. more

Great service 7/15/2011

The technician arrived on time and quickly identified the problem with a contact that caused the air conditioning to quit working. I did not report the problem until 8am and the air was fixed before 1pm. Great service and tech was very nice more

Scam on Crawl Space Dehumidification 7/10/2011

Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning from Raleigh came for regular maintenance check and tried to rip us off for a $4000 underground insulation package and house sealant. They had a hard sell that our crawl space was wet, needed plastic, had insulation coming down, and more. I checked and it was dry and dusty, had plastic that I put down at least as thick as they recommended, and they had torn down some insulation that was fine before they come. Stay away!! more

Scam on Underground Dehumidification 7/10/2011

Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning from Raleigh came for regular maintenance check and tried to rip us off for a $4000 underground insulation package and house selant. They had a hard sell that our crawl space was wet, needed plastic, had insulation coming down, and more. I checked and it was try and dusty, had plastic thicker than they recommended, and they had torn down some insultation that was fine before they come. Stay away!! more

I too am very disappointed in this outfit. Similar experience w/ two weak Capacitors. was charged very inflated (almost insulting) charges. Paid $362 for $45 worth of capacitors...It translates into $317 labor plus $104 service charge...close to a surgeon's rate. Was there about an hour. High pitch sales job to get inflated annual service agreement too. Rest assure I'll be looking hard for an alternative. Also will purchase a couple of capacitors for future backup. Its the most common problem so why not simply replace them and see if it fixes the problem before calling an HVAC service. They did respond quickly, fixed the problem and was out. Most folks will be sticker shocked...but if they have the extra $ will be "fixed" quickly. more

AC capacitor boke 9/24/2010

Stay away from this company! They'll charge you $99 just to come and look at your system and if you need service they'll charge you an arm and a leg... my ac has a problem with the capacitor, and the fan out side didn't turn on. they replaced the capacitor and charge me $240 + $99 service fee... i just looked up online and for my system, the capacitor only cost $30 more

Do not use these guys! 5/26/2010

I have used the Service Experts twice and both times I was overcharged. I thought I had no choice because the house they were doing work on is rented out (I'm a landlord) and I'm out of town. They were quick and got the job done, but I could not afford what they wanted to charge me the third time I called for a repair. Pros: quick Cons: high prices, obnoxious phone calls, unfriendly mechanics more

They will gip you! Do not use this company. 1/15/2010

Our heat went completely out during the winter and we quickly called the first HVAC company we found, Service Experts. They came out, charged $1000 to fix. A year later the problem occurred again. We called Service Experts again hoping they would help us since they fixed the problem earlier, but again they said it would cost $800 to fix. The technician suggested we get a whole new system which runs anywhere from $3000 to $7000. Instead we called another HVAC company to get a second opinion. They came out and said nothing was wrong with our system that a small tube needed to be cleaned out. The technician cleaned out the tube and our heat works fine! We will NEVER use Service Experts again! more

I've been with Service Experts for almost 2 years and have been extremely impressed. I used to be with a small, local company that was really cheap, but they just didn't have the manpower to take care of their customers when you really needed the service that same day and they weren't nearly as professional and knowledgable as S.E. Everything replaced in 2004, duct work, heat pump, air handler, humidifier and purifier. Pros: They almost always had someone ready to come out, prompt. Cons: Scare tactics, over priced, poor quality work more

What A Rip-OFF! 6/29/2008

I just came home from vacation and my A/C did not work upstairs. Called Service Experts since my father just had a unit put in. The installer was very nice but WHOA to the charges. They charged me $89 to come out, change a capacitor ( under warranty) and put refrigerent in. Then turned around and checked the second unit charged $89 and the cost of refrigerent. Total cost $600? I just had refrigerent put in 2 years ago and total service call was $107 for just one unit. I would NOT recommend this company at all until they have reasonable prices. more

Service Experts of Raleigh wanted us to wait four days during the June 4-11 2008 heat wave before they would bless us with repairs to our dead A/C that THEY installed 18 months ago for $5,375! ..... ... SHUMATE HVAC fixed the a/c in three hours (total, from call to cool) that turned out to be an installation flaw by the "Service" "Experts". Pros: None Cons: See review more

good follow through and guarantee 1/20/2008

The first time i contacted these guys i was very unhappy with quality of the work and the knowledge of the first serviceman but they stick by their warranty and guarantee. i contacted the company about my bad experience and i was very happy with the resolution we came to. i thought i would never hear from them again after my heater wasn't fixed and i filed the complaint, and that i would be written off but it wasn't the case. they did their best to make me happy with the service i received and i respect them for that. the second guy to come out was very helpful, thorough l, polite, experienced and did the job right.
