Worst

My family has been going to this store for 10+ years, ever since we moved to Okemos from Saginaw. The staff has ALWAYS been rude, snotty, stuck up, arrogant and just all together...

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/24/2013

I have been a customer of STA for many years and have never encountered a rude salesperson or noticed kids are not welcome. The consignment area is small, but I have taken my kids in there with no problems. They have a large selection, and most items still have original tags on them! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 10/3/2012

By reading these reviews, I believe they were written for your location (2nd Time Around Okemos, Mi). I was in yesterday to consign and experienced the same unfriendly (but not rude) treatment....AND was told that you now limit each consign visit to 30 items per day. I could understand if there was a line of people waiting but there wasn't. I drove 30 miles with several excellent boys items and was forced to take all but the 30 back home. Gas is too expensive to drive there several times. I left to shop at another consignment store and was asked 5 times if I was finding everything ok. I have never had this happen at STA...they walk right by without a word. So there is no confusion, this review is written about 2nd Time Around Okemos, Mi. more

Rude employee 11/10/2011

I have visited this store several times, I come from out of town, There is one woamn in oarticular who is rude, she wears glasses and has dark hair, maybe she does'nt like mexicans, and I feel I was robbed fro all the clothe I took there to sell, I could of done pretty good, I know others have, that is why I took my clothes there, they have nice clothes, but need nicer workers !!!!!!!!! more

Great shop: great place to consigh and shop 10/25/2011

I have been shopping and consigning at the 2nd Time Around for the past 25 years and I have never experienced anything like "" jihanemo"" experienced. more

Scam Artists 10/17/2011

Poor customer service. Once they take your clothes, they really have no interest in (1) paying you on time once your clothes sell, (2) making sure that you get back the items that didn't sell. It took them MONTHS to give me a check for the money the owed me on sold items. They claimed they ""lost"" my items that didn't sell. Really? REALLY? Please folks - do your self a MAJOR FAVOR and AVOID THIS COMPANY. I have lived in 3 different states and used their shops in MA, NY, and IL. EVERY SINGLE location I've been to has disgusting sales people and shady business practices. No exaggeration. They are a joke. more

Great Store/ Creepy Guy, though 6/25/2011

I love this store, but the male who works there is a Creeper -- he seems to follow you around and watch everything that you do; he just has a weird demeener; I actually try to avoid going there when he's working.\r I love selling my items here and always have great success. I also love to shop for great finds here. more

Good Place 3/28/2011

I took some clothes in for consignment and they accepted everything. I did make sure everything was clean, pressed, no stains and on hangers. I did listen to their recording regarding what season of clothing they are accepting. I sold everything except a few items within the timeline for me to come pick it up (I think 3 months?). I did go pick up my unsold items and drove them straight to Goodwill. I make about $50-65 and still had some items left over to donate. more

NEVER AGAIN WILL I ENTER THAT STORE. 11/10/2010

I don't shop @ 2ndTA anymore as the sales people are anything, but friendly or helpful. The owner walks around like a grumbling witch. The one and only male that was there is a joke!! Nope never again will I step into that store. Goodwill and Walmart is good enough for me. I'll go to 2K for friendly and warm service and pay a little more for beautiful, used clothes...... more

Love this place 5/31/2010

I have been a consignor at 2nd time around for over 10 years, and really am shocked by the number of rude reviews.. I always have encountered friendly staff, that inquire as to my health, how the drive was from where I was coming, my children, etc.. Maybe it's because I'm a long standing customer and am recognized, but I guessing people are easily offended when their items are rejected.. Seriously, they know what sells- most of my items always sell-- Pros: Friendly staff, most stuff that sells, great deals Cons: limit items at times more

Best consignment shop in Lansing 4/27/2010

This store is still the best in town! There is so much stock to choose from with new items coming in everyday. Sometimes my clothes are turned down for consignment but the workers have to be choosey because of the volume of clothes that they have to look at and take in on a daily basis. I especially love it for children's clothing. I wish that they would get rid of some of the clothing on the racks because sometimes it is too packed, but there is a good selection. Compared to other consignment shops in the area, 2nd Time Around is still the best.\r \r \r Jennifer, Okemos MI more

RUDE Staff all around! 4/18/2010

I have consigned clothes at 2nd Time Around a few times, and I have been shopping there for years, despite the fact that the staff have poor manners. The first time I went to consign clothes, the woman on staff (who was wearing wool socks with sandals, a wrinkly peasant skirt and a piled fleece pull over) had the nerve to laugh at some of the clothes I brought in! I found this to be very unprofessional and offensive. I have been there to consign clothes other times and the staff was friendly to me, but I noticed them being rude to other people. Also, they will NOT allow any children to be in the consignment room- not even babies in carriers. Their selection of clothing in the store is usually VERY dated. However, they are an okay source for children clothing. The only reason that I gave them two stars instead of one is because I feel like you get a good percentage of the garment's sale price. (Which depends upon how soon it sells.) Pros: They give you a decent consignment percentage when selling. Cons: Whether you are selling or buying, the staff is RUDE. more

Get the cash to shop! 1/21/2010

Personally, I love Second Time Around. You can count on finding good, quality clothing for ridiculously good prices (I would never, ever pay the amount of money most retail stores ask for things). They sell men's, women's, and children's items, as well as awesome jewelry and purses, with none of the junk that many consignment stores seem to carry. I particularly recommend it to people looking for business attire - the prices are amazing!\r \r If you know how to ask the right questions, consigning at Second Time Around is a breeze. The people there know their business and work hard to ensure that the items they accept are in good condition. They won't accept deeply wrinkled items, true, but every time I've had something turned down it was done politely and professionally. It's their business; they have a right to turn things down. I saw one woman whose things were turned down for an odor. The girl checked with several other coworkers to make sure she was right, and carefully explained tha more

Second Time Around is not worth it 10/27/2009

To me, this store is not worth the effort. Shopping: The racks are crowded, too close together, and poorly organized. Many of the clothes appeared to be very worn and/or outdated styles. The clothes are supposed to be organized by size, but they aren't. I found at least 3-4 different Womens' sizes in the same section of the rack. Consigning: The prices they're willing to put on the clothes definitely do not make it worth my effort to consign there. Last time, I brought very gently worn Womens' clothes in a number of mid-range brands; Liz Claiborne, Lands' End, Lane Bryant, etc., along with some less expensive Target and Meijer brands, all less than a year old. All garments were clean, wrinkle free, and on hangers. The sales person, who was dressed in an oversized sweater, long corduroy skirt, long johns, and birkenstocks (with socks) did not accept at least half of my items and told me that they were not in current styles. Current compared to what? As I mentioned above, t more

Second Time Around is an unsatisfiying experience 10/18/2009

I recently returned from the hour+ drive one-way from second time around to consign some clothes. I was told by the girl that went through my clothing that a pair of jeans (washed of course) I had brought in smelled like peanut butter. So they were rejected along with ALL of the other pairs of jeans I had brought in, too. Including a brand new pair of Express jeans with tags that were rejected as well.\r I had a nice pair of Nike shoes....no deal on them either. Two pair of leather dress shoes didn't make the cut either. I had everything on "hangers" and "clean", just like they want. Needless to say I won't be returning there to Secondtime Around. I made sure the girl was aware of this before I left. I will definately take my consignments elsewhere to another shop next time, if not just take them to Goodwill. Very poor experience for me. more

Monstrous Staff 10/16/2009

I was bringing in consignments that I had; freshly laundered, ironed, and checked over for flaws. I had been here before so I understood that some pieces would be rejected. After waiting 30 minutes for my turn, The girl who finally came to get me was familiar but her condescending, unfriendly, and beastly behavior was not. As I stood there waiting for her to go through my clothes in the jam packed tiny area, the very kind grandma I had been chatting with was receiving the same behavior from a different staff member. The customer was visibly upset by the rude behavior. Next to her, another woman was getting the same treatment and began to confront the worker. The confrontation escalated. I was not surprised. The people who work there are VERY UNHAPPY women who must be hired for their rude demeanor and trained by management who do not understand the meaning of kindness. I understand they have a job to do and not every item brought in can be accepted but that does not constitute their rudeness. Cons: very poor service more

RUDE 10/15/2009

Dropped off a few times ~ last time was particularly busy and the staff was understandably stressed. But this is no reason to be so very rude !! These women were awful. Not just one member of the staff but the ENTIRE intake staff. Awful to me, awful to women with babies, and awful to very kind elderly women. There just was no excuse for this abherent behavior. I was totally offended and I will NOT be back. Pros: Nice selection Cons: VERY RUDE STAFF more

Second Time Around is annoying 10/7/2009

They may be nice to shop at, but to sell clothes, it's a pain in my butt. The workers are stuck up conceited old biddys. They make you iron everything and have everything on hangers and go through an enormous process to sell things. If they see a wrinkle they get angry.\r You could buy a brand new suit, bring it to them if it wasn't on a hanger, they'd flip a nut and let you know how pissed off they were.\r \r Go to the other consignment shops to sell. Less hassle, nicer people, better bang for your buck. more
