Candice, there are a lot of negative reviews for a reason. Because there are more people ticked then he has family members writing positive reviews, or just doing them himself. (Renee W). in September he was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. nuff said. See ya Sean, hope bubba treats you well in there. Better try to bulk up a little before you report to serve your time more

I read all the negative reviews from emotional people. Lawyers aren't magic. Clients need to be pro active with their cases. Shaun has been extremely helpful and so far honest and straight up with me. I'm happy I found him. I would use him again, and recommend him to others. more

WARNING!!! Do not use this lawyer unless you want your money stolen from you. I hired Sean to do my bankruptcy..paid him $1,800 and never heard from him again. Left many messages (NOT ONE of them returned). Long story short, I am out the $1,800 and my bankruptcy was NEVER done. This is not an issue of what quality of work he did or a matter of what opinion I might have....he took my money and did NOTHING on my bankruptcy case. It is shocking to me that a Lawyer could be this unethical. It is so disgusting. No matter what you hear about him, please do not use him!! more

Worst Lawyer ever. DO NOT use him, he only wants to take your money. Does a poor job of representing you. Had a Federal Indictment filed against him in 2010. The State Bar filed charges against him in Sept. 2011 and again in Feb., 2012; then they enrolled him as inactive due to irreparable harm to his clients (he can't practice). Three of the persons here who wrote notes saying he was a good lawyer are himself, his paralegal's wife and paralegals son, so don't believe those ""phony positive coments."" The State Bar has a big warning on his State Bar profile warning people that they have filed a case against him because of major missappropriation of client funds! more

Sean Gjerde was handling my divorce case, I was never notified of a court hearing, and thus judgment was entered in the case. I have filed a complaint with the state bar and would advise anyone else that has had problems to do the same. more

DO NOT USE- NOT ELIGIBLE TO PRACTICE 4/4/2012

Do not use this firm or lawyer. He is not eligible to practice law as of 12/16/11. members.calbar.ca.gov/fal/Member/Detail/217467 It looks like he was reinstated on 2/16/12. We paid him to file a bankruptcy in 2010. The bankruptcy was never filed. We have requested repeatedly for him to file or return our funds. All we get is the run around. We have a complaint on file with the CA Bar that is being investigated. Please file against him if you've had money stolen from you too. A slap on the wrist is not enough. He needs to be disbarred! Read the Consumer Alert through the link if you have any doubt if this man is a thief! more

I am actually in the middle of filing a lawsuit against the State Bar for what the State Bar has done to me. I can assure everyone that Sean has not stolen any money from me. Sean has been very kind and has helped me out very much! I resent everyone calling me an old lady. I am currently enrolled full time in college and don?t view myself as an ?old lady?. I am very young. I think these negative posts are false and negative. more

YOUR CRAZY 2/4/2012

I have had many experiences with attorney's throughout my divorce and child custody issues with my ex husband. I want to say that Sean handled my case wonderfully. Not only did you help me and the other party work out a full agreement, but he helped me get a court order that my ex husband pay all of his fees!!!! Before Sean, no attorney could get my ex to even negotiate. I ended up being refunded all of my money after he collected on the order for my ex to pay all of my attorney fees. Thank you so much Sean! more

WARNING people don't hire this man ,he just want to steel your money,we hire this man for child support purposes ,he promise to help me out ,but he never file anything at court ,plus in this moment he is suspended, so he can't take any new cases, so be careful with this man the only thing he cares is to fill out his pockets with his dirty lies plus his aspect and the way he treats people aren't from a professional ,his stuff are also rude and unprofessional. DON'T BELIEVE IN HIS LIES I really don't know how he got his degree . boooooo for you Sean. ohh and by the way the only reason why i rated him with one star its because it does not lets me proceed . more

Do Not Hire This Man 1/5/2012

Do not hire this man! He is currently under investigation by the FBI in a multi-million dollar real estate scam. He showed up late to all of our court appearences. He made numerous promises to me that he did not keep. He made unnecessary court dates just to charge $1,200 for each one that the judge even claimed were not needed.To top it all off, he doesn't bother to let me know that he is supended from practicing law for the next 60 days, so he doesn't call or even show up at our last court appearance. What kind of attorney abandons you in the middle of your divorce and doesn't have the decency to call? To add insult to injury, he submits a bill claiming I owe him an additional almost $5k above and beyond the $4k I've already paid after he abandons me. I now have no money to hire a new attorney in the middle of my divorce and have to fight back against the frivilous charges he is still trying to charge me. This man is a liar, a crook, and preys on people that are in deperate need of help, just to steal their money to line his dirty pockets. more

Gotta Say!!! 9/7/2011

I am so happy! I met with 6 attorney's all together. I found that no attorney would take my case for less than $5,000.00. I realized my case wasn't that complicated, but rather I still couldn't do it myself and needed help. Mr. Gjerde employed a paralegal that helped me throughout most of the process. His hourly rate was half the price of the attorney and when it came time to going to court, the attorney was there. All in all I only spent $3,000.00. I expected I wouldn't get everything I was looking for in court, but after we finished I got even more than I expected! THANKS SEAN more

Attorney 9/7/2011

I want to say, I am impressed. I didn't think it could be done. My ex wife was making a fortune off of me this last few years. I was paying $2600.00 a month in support. This figure was argued by my ex wife's attorney in court (while I was representing myself). I then hired Mr. Gjerde after I could no longer make payments of $2600 a month. I begged, borrowed and nearly bankrupted myself paying support. Sure enough, after hiring Mr. Gjerde I went back to court and my support order was lowered to $1200.00 a month. THANK GOD!!!! Mr. Gjerde was able to show that this entire time my income was calculated improperly by the previous attorney and that he manipulated the numbers to make it appear as though my support obligation was hire then it should have been. THANK YOU THANK YOU! more

Affordable Doc Prep 9/7/2011

After spending LITERALLY 2 DAYS in line at the court to just file for custody, I decided to go to an attorney. I found a few names from the court and both attorneys were trying to charge me $1,500.00 just to START. I didnt have that kind of money. Im working two jobs just to get by. I called Northern California Law and explained my situation. They said they could do document preparation for me for $300.00 - DEAL. I made my appointment. When I went last week they had a cancellation and did my docs right then and there for me while my kids played in the playroom. And on top of it they told me they would file the docs for me so I didnt have to go back to court. HALLEJUAH. I am thrilled that I dont have to speak to another court filer for a few weeks. Hopefully this will be the ticket to custody and not have to file any more paperwork, but if it isnt i'm definitely going back to Shawn. Special Thanks to Henry for being so awesome on the phone when I had 20 billion questions. more

How is he an attorney 5/23/2011

Lets ignore the appearance...lets ignore that blah personality...lets not ignore the fact that this guy was actually given a law degree. He and his staff including his wife, have no business practicing law, pretending to help people only to really hide the fact that they are crooks. Don't use this guy...you'll be sorry. I know I am. I curse the day i found his stupid coupon in the value pak...i guess that should've been my first clue! Its sad that Elk Grove houses his office. Has he told you he has been barred from doing Chapter 13's?...we'll he didn't tell me, the board of Trustees did!!!! The only reason why he got one star from me is because I had to!! otherwise...no star for you SEAN! More like a big thumbs down! BOO on you! more

4 Years Experience with Sean Gjerde 3/7/2011

I have gone through a lot of attorneys. Amazingly enough I have been told a million different things regarding the same subject all of my previous attorneys. One thing I know I can count on is if Sean Gjerde answers a questions I can count on it. If he can't answer the questions I ask. Amazingly enough he does a little bit of research and poof there is the answer I was looking for and accurate at that. Sean Gjerde has been representing me on several matters for about 4 years now and I can say with true experience he is the attorney for me. more

Its been a trying time, and with trying times comes the need for some help. I can't say going through a bankruptcy is pleasant, its not let me assure you. But Nicki and Sean really helped me out. The secret, its email, they always respond to emails. Client's complain about not returning phone calls, emails really help. more

he owes me money 2/9/2011

He owes me money and still hasnt paid. i want to get it back from him before he heads off to prison and gets his accounts raided by the federal government. All i can say is what goes around comes around and he is going to make a nice mate for Bubba when he makes it to the joint. Hopefully they can have a long and loving relationship for 20 years! Heck i feel better already just thinking about it. I am very happy that his life is going to fecies and i dont feel bad becuase he had no problem trying his best to ruin mine. more

Nothing I didnt expect from this Lawyer 10/25/2010

I didnt get anything from Mr.. Gjerde I didn't expect. A lawyer client relationship is a collaboration. You can't expect to throw your problems over the counter and make them disappear. I had to manage things with this office as I expected to. When things didn't go as well as i thought they should, Sean always made them right and did so fairly. He also handled my case with an amount of casual mutual respect that is not common from a law office. I COLLABORATED with Sean working with him. Everything pretty much went how he said it would. The couple of things that didn't? He hustled to get taken care of to my satisfaction. If you are seeking legal help for family law or bankruptcy, your life is pretty screwed up and it is very emotional and challenging. You cant mistake that emotion, and your lawyers casualness with the court system (because they are so familiar with it) as arrogance. There is a difference. I am satisfied with my experience with this law firm and would use them again...although I never hope to darken there door again! more

Was good and cheap in getting my Bankruptcy done. 10/25/2010

I got my bankruptcy done quickly and efficiently with this firm. My only complaint is that my phone calls generally took a couple of days to be returned, but he always was fast in responding to my email. more
