Rat Runs Across Table and Bench 12/7/2010

Took my husband for his 60th birthday party, along with his family visiting from Detroit and my 92 year old dad to Scott's for dinner. Ordered appetizers and drinks and put in our dinner order. While having our appetizers, heard a waitress yell out and looked at her and saw her look of horror. Asked her what was the matter, she did not answer. She talked to another waitress who ran to the kitchen and quite a few staff went in the kitchen to talk. Then a man came out from in back of the restaurant with a can and we saw a HUGE rat run over one of the booth seats onto the table and disappeared. Then they started taking the booth seats apart, right while we were sitting there, to look for the rat!\r While I insisted that our dinner be comped, and it was, the whole experience of seeing a huge rat run across the booth right next to us made us all feel ill. My husband and I have been enjoying Scott's for years and in fact my husband was there on the original opening day. We will never go back now as the vision of the rat, the staff taking apart the booths, and the whole distasteful event on my husband's 60th birthday has left a horrible impression in our minds and our stomach. Is the food good? Yes, but now I wonder, if there is one rat running through the restaurant, how many more are there and do they get into the food at all? I know they have a rodent prevention program, but when you see a HUGE rat run across the table, you can only think the program is not working. We are very sad but will not ever go back to Scott's again, nor will I be taking my staff there for birthday lunches any more. And, how sad that on such a special occassion as my husband's 60th birthday, which I trusted to Scott's to make special, our memory is of a huge rat next to our table. more

Good most of the time... 9/10/2010

We've been going to Scott's for years and 90% of the time the food and service are good, but we usually only go during happy hour and sit in the bar or outside on the patio. more

Women, beware--don't ever be sad at this bar! 7/17/2010

NO stars. I was treated very inappropriately by one of the staff during a time I was emotionally compromised and when i attempted to make it known to management at Scotts and also their corporate office what had been done to me, I was completely ignored, even despite the fact this action resulted in several years of ongoing confusion for me and further mistreatment directed at me by other staff at this restaurant. I work for a company that deals with insurance companies trying to get medical claims paid--I have dealt in my time with many indifferent, rude or uncaring people, but nothing has compared to the complete and total lack of concern for my well being demonstrated by both this restaurant and their corporate office, the utter disregard for the safety and comfort of a loyal paying guest. About Scotts I will say nice place to visit, but this is not a place that cares beyond how much money is in your pocket how you are made to feel by their staff, or what inappropriate unprofessional treatment might be directed at you. Pros: It has four walls and a ceiling Cons: small portions, high prices, unprofessional staff more

Forget it 8/2/2009

I've been going to Scott's for years. The food has always been mediocre, but we keep going because it's predictable, and close to home. But today was the last straw. Both entrees were horrid: greasy, salty. We were overcharged, and the waitress blamed it on the computer. I could go on, but it's not worth the time to write it. Go somewhere else. They've given up trying. Pros: parking Cons: bad food, billing errors, crummy service more

Nice date restaurant 6/19/2009

This is a gem of a place that from the outside doesn't look like much but, inside is humming. We went for a dinner on a week night and sat in the bar. The menu was great (highly recommend the shrimp app) and the waitress was so sweet and chatted with us like we were her long time friend. It is not a place to take the kids if you have them but great for date night with the man! Pros: Good menu, fun staff more

Great Edmonds Bar 1/14/2009

Scott's is a great place to go meet friends and have great food. The bar gets really packed on the weekends, so be prepared to wait and then jump when a table becomes free. I like their Fish and Chips, the Artichoke dip, and their drinks are fantastic. My favorite is the Scratch Margarita. When I take a friend there for the first time, they often giggle and snicker about the pinkish gingham wallpaper, but by the end of the night they are a Scott's fan. Reservations in the main dining room for dinner is a good idea. Especially on the weekends. more

To R.U.I. or not? 1/1/2008

The atmosphere is great, the food is better. I recommend everything on the menue but the meatloaf san. and the prime rib dip. I been going to the restaurant for about ten years now. Have many friends that work for rui. My only complaint is that I caught the bartender giving one of the servers an alcoholic drink while on her shift. She was my server. She did not get drunk, just a little silly. From going to the rest. so much over the last few years I had picked up that he had been fired from the company before. They have a secret employee in from corporate now watching everything that happens in the rest. Hopefully that will help. Overall, Scotts Bar & Grill is by far the best restaurant in the N. end of town. I also recommend Cutters for a much hipper night. Pros: Atmosphere and attractive staff. Cons: Bartenders getting employees drunk on there shifts. more

A Better American-style Diner 12/1/2007

It's an upgraded diner...serving 21st century-style diner food....so for what it is, in my opinion, I think it's darn good. I've only had good service when I've dined there. Their cocktail menu has ALOT of interesting choices. A favorite: Buffalo Chicken Salad is worth the trip....and very good focaccia. Pros: Alot of variety on their menu. Cons: noisy more

REALLY WATCH YOUR BILL.....This is fraud!!!! 10/15/2007

We had been going to Scott's for 23 years. Just had a family dinner there. The waiters were terrible. and guess what? We all had an extra entree on our bills. This makes our favorite restaurant no longer Scott's.\r Food was excellent, as always. Pros: good food, Cons: rude servers, and manager. They padded the bill more

Good food, watch your bill 6/18/2007

After considering the reviews for Scott's here, my husband and I decided to try the restaurant this past Friday night. The food was good and atmosphere pleasant, but our server was a little agressive. I remembered reading the review here by ""theonlyk"" in which he recommended looking closely at the bill. I did so and we were charged for an extra $25 entree. I motioned at the server and he walked right over to the computer before coming to our table. He said, ""I realized what I did"" and handed me a corrected bill. I thought this was very odd...he knew he'd overcharged me before I pointed it out to him. I will probably go back there again, but will watch my bill closely and if it happens again I'll never go back. Pros: Many varied choices on the menu. Cons: Concerns with the service. more

staff needs training 2/1/2007

their food i s nice but the service is shotty. Be careful when you order to look at your bill to make sure you don't get over charged as I have in the past (i.e. fast break lunch includes salad drink and smaller portion of 5 selected lunch items for one price, the bill comes and it is twice as expensive because they charge you for everything, or getting charged for the complimentary birthday desert) this has happened to me more times than not. some of their staff are great and some are less than adequate for the price/atmosphere. you never know what you are going to get. I wish I could say better things, but I have been disappointed the last 5 times I have been there :( sorry Scotts more

Best food & service in teh North End 2/1/2007

Scott's has been a favorite for years! We have NEVER had a bad meal here. The menu has a lot of standards plus a daily special sheet. The early bird dinners are an excellent deal: salad, entre & dessert for 16.99. Just get there before 6:00 (they are flexible on this, so long as you are seated by 6:00). Some favorites are the Crab Louie which is LOADED with crab, the Fish & Chips, Dijon Chicken, all the pasta dishes are excellent, as is the Matag & Blue salad. Even though they are usually packed, the service is outstanding. The drinks are pretty good too! Pros: Cocktails, all the food, Outstanding service! Cons: Parking, you MUST make reservations! more

Good, consistent, Better-than-Basic restaurant food 12/23/2006

This restaurant offers alot of unusual & generous cocktails, very friendly & efficient service and a comfortable dining room. The food is good, unpretentious and there's alot to choose from. The only item I've been disappointed in is the steak. The salads are especially fresh and large. Comfortable bar for dining quickly and more casually. more

Save your money go to Olive Garden 7/27/2006

All the other reviews on here seem to be positive but I found the food to be highly over priced considering I've had much better quality at such chains as Olive Garden. The service is outstanding and if your looking for a place to get appetizers it's better then Mick Finster's otherwise not recommended for fine dinning. I ordered the chicken marsala with a caesar salad, my salad had way too much dressing that contained way too many anchovies and the green beans that came with my main course were undercooked. My date ordered the top sirloin, it came out very tough and chewy, he was highly displeased. Must admit that their clam chowder was good and the bread was of better quality then that of Olive Garden but if your looking for a great restaurant and don't mind the drive check out The Red House in Renton-exceptional! Pros: Service and full bar Cons: Overall food quality more

Always a Winner 4/28/2003

We've rediscovered Scotts! Over the years, we've patronized this restuarant but since we are from the eastside, our patronage has dropped. In the past year, we've had the great pleasure of traveling to Scott's on 3 different occasions and are never dissapointed. The service is outstanding - how nice to be waited on by professionals who take their jobs seriously. The food from lunch, brunch and dinner is outstanding. Many choices from large to small plates are sure to please any diner. The bar is charming and a great place for lunch or a quick dinner and the dinning room is all it should be. We are so impressed, that we are planning on a large party to celebrate mother's day. I'm sure we won't be dissapointed. Do yourself a favor and stop by - Pros: great amibiance, terrific service, excellent food &price more

Guaranteed Good Time 1/28/2003

This restaurant is guaranteed to be excellent, no matter when you stop by. I love coming here for their wonderful specials and those delicious terriyaki tenderloin appetizers. I highly suggest this restaurant to anyone looking for a new favorite. They also have a great selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Pros: Relaxed Atmosphere, Friendly Service, Great Food Cons: Location more

Tuesdays at Scotts 7/31/2002

My friends and I often lunch together at Scotts and always find something delicious to feast upon. The staff is outstanding, especially Marla, and we love it there. Pros: great service, seasonal menu Cons: more light choices, noisy more

Anniversary reliability 7/1/2002

We have celebrated our last 4 wedding anniversaries with dinner at Scott's. The food has always been excellent. My husband, the meat eater, enjoyed the prime rib. I love the complexity of flavors in the presentation of their crab cakes. Save room for dessert of burnt cream or key lime pie and a cup of full flavor coffee. Mmm! :-) more
