We bought our home in the late summer of 2009 and have been nothing but pleased. We've had minor, normal new construction, issues pop up from time to time and all have been taken ...

Worst

We purchased our home in Sept 2006 from Scott Lee Homes and I have to say in a matter of less than 2 years, I am very disappointed with the product. We did have a home inspection....

Never again... 3/27/2011

I have owned my home for about 4 years now. I first ignored the simple cracks and nail pops in the drywall which can be normal for a new house. After my year warranty was up, that is when I started to notice other things... Such as, some of my walls do not touch the floor which you can clearly seen under them (at least an inch cap). My kitchen counter tops have a large gap behind them and do not meet the wall (about 2 inch gap) The HVAC has had many issues due to nails and screws that were put through the lines when they put up the drywall. My electrical outlets are loose and many have been replaced. I have had to replace the sink faucet and outside faucets, due to leaking. Also, there is trash buried in the yard, left over from the build. Other people have made complaints in their reviews that have happened to me or my neighbors. I could go on about the house it self but there is just so much... What is really upsetting is the way Scott has treated me and my neighbors. We are hard working, caring people. He has not returned phone calls, not fixed problems and has even made threats. If you are looking for a home, please look somewhere else, so you do not have to go through what we have. I hope this helps someone else!\r more

STILL UNHAPPY 3/24/2011

Since my last review I have filed with the BBB. They are trying to solve my problems. Scott also contacted me and wanted me to remove all negitive feedback. I refuse to do so until all problems are fixed. After almost three years here I doubt that will happen. I also noticed that alot of people are leaving feedback. i bet Scott had something to do with it. You get what you pay for these days and no one has pride in their work anymore. When I put my nameon my work I make sure it is perfect and the customer stays happy. Keep in mind, If their mouth is moving then they most likley lying. more

A great home 12/10/2010

We bought our home in the late summer of 2009 and have been nothing but pleased. We've had minor, normal new construction, issues pop up from time to time and all have been taken care of in a timely fashion as well as exceeding their responsibility per the home owners warranty. The houses themselves are also quite lovely, many details overlooked by larger, nationwide, builders are commonly seen. We've had a pleasure working with Scott Lee Homes and would happily recommend them. more

Totally pleased 12/10/2010

I bought a Scott Lee home in The Bluffs at Buffalo Creek a year ago. It is a lovely, well-built home on a great lot. I have called with questions and have had quick responses every time. I've met Scott and talked to Toni several times and both are very nice people. I have had the most interaction with Darren and he is wonderful. He has explained septic systems and crawl spaces (things I had never had experience with) and corrected the few new construction problems. I appreciate their hard work and would highly recommend them. more

Be happy & safe not sad & sorry........ 9/29/2010

I've known Scott Lee a long time, yet I must say that my list of reasons why I wish I had never even looked at a Scott Lee Home is to long to get in to. When looking to purchase a new home, first check out the builder. Do your homework & remember no matter how good your Realitor they still work for the builder. more

Scott Lee goes the extra mile 9/27/2010

We bought a Scott Lee Home in 2007. During the first year they worked at repairing the problems that we found in a timely manor. Scott Lee, himself, came twice after the warranty had expired to fix a problem. He was not obligated to do this but this shows that he cares and wants the homeowner to be completely satisfied with the house. We give Scott Lee a very good review for going the extra mile. more

WE'VE HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH SCOTT LEE 8/4/2010

I am not sure about these other reviewers, but I have to stand up for this builder. My family has owned a Scott Lee home for two years now and while there are some minor things that come with new construction, we have had everything fixed in a very timely manner. Of course, we had an inspection done prior to purchasing and they fixed everything (such as replacing warping porch boards and some loose roof nails). We also had a one year inspection before the workmanship warranty ran out and they fixed several minor issues that came up with that-even the cosmetic ones such as a crack in paint near ceiling! Scott Lee himself came for the second set of fixing and was nice as can be. Tim has been very quick to get things done, and done right. He is not a warm and fuzzy guy, but he does know what he is doing and does a great job. I am sure dissatisfied customers are more likely to voice their opinions, so I just wanted to provide a review from a happy customer! You just cannot beat the quality for the price in this area. .......and NO, I do not have any association with Scott Lee Homes other than being a buyer :) more

Worst home ever 5/4/2010

We are very disapointed with this home. Since our purchase nov. 2008 we have not gone one month without fixing something. The crawl space fills with water, the same wall keeps cracking, the yard floods and stays wet for days. We recently pulled the worst deck ever built off the house and found the wood is rotten after just 18 months. Scott Lee is not to blame for everything except he is the one that hired crap help and used crap materials. Just to save a buck. huh? He says ""it is within code"" what a load of crap. I suggest living in a tent on us 40 before buying a Scott Lee Home. Buying a brand new home has really sucked for us and I wish I had done better research before I purchased this disaster of a home. Cons: the house more

just be cautious 9/20/2008

I guess my overall experience with my scott lee home is ok. nothing really bad and nothing really good. The contractors were fairly prompt in correcting any problems, except for the septic installer, called him several times for questions but he never called me back. I would think it would be good business sense if Scott Lee himself would call or send a card of thanks or something like that but from what I hear the Lee family is not very friendly. Would I buy another one? Probably not. but....at the same time I have seen worse quality from other builders. The problem is this...the builders hire contractors to do a job, it is a set rate so the builder doesn't care if takes them 3 weeks or 3 days to do it. Pros: cheaper prices, excellent trim work Cons: cheap rugs, sloppy painters, cheap appliances, more

One of the Trianlges Worst Builders 9/14/2008

Have owned a Scott Lee Home for 2 years now. Never met Scott but his staff is useless. The house overall is generally ok if you like uneven walls here and there and dips in your floor. My yard, that is another thing. If you buy a home from this guy don't get one with a yard over .25 acres. I have just over an acre and my yard is a mess. Turns out they barried most of the scrap wood from the house and downed trees. This builder just does not care. This is now starting to show up since the soil is settling and after some big rains. Calls to the office (Tonee sp?) don't get returned and Tim the maintenance guy is clueless. His answer to everything is ""Well this is not a custom home, they are production homes"" All that for 215,000. Just be very careful when working with these people. Half my outlets were loose and ones that were supposed to be GFCI were not and could have resulted in electrocution. Deck built is junk wood and neighbor said he watched it lay in mud and rain for months before it was built. I personally know of at least 6 other people that have much more problems then me. This builder just does not care. more

Great Home 6/18/2008

I purchased a scott lee home two years ago and love it. I have some friends that bought one from another big local builder and they had nothing but problems and the builder would not come back. The few problems I have had scott lee has come back with no problems and fixed. can't beat the quality or price. would highly recommend this builder to friends. Pros: good quality more

My Scott Lee Home :( 6/15/2008

We purchased our home in Sept 2006 from Scott Lee Homes and I have to say in a matter of less than 2 years, I am very disappointed with the product. We did have a home inspection. But here is the catcher. The things that are messed up occur after the home inspection & after that worthless warranty. If I buy another home, it will NOT be a Scott Lee Home. My first starter home of 120K, built by Heritage Homes in 2000 was of better quality than this 200K home. My issues: Hard wood floors separating at seams, the kitchen floor is uneven, the porch is chipping paint - due to the crew not priming it before they painted it. My Master bedroom floor creeks--this is due to the wall ""racking"" not just the uneven floor boards. My bathroom light was coming out of the wall, the upstairs AC Unit does not put out any cold air--I have a 17 month old child and we have to put fans in the window to cool the upstairs once the sun goes down! The drain pipe to the washing machine leaked or something, I just know I had water in my upstairs crawl space. Oh the back deck was warping before we closed, we tried several times for them to fix it. By front porch columns are warping too. The shower's handle was placed on wrong--it was giving cold water when it was turned to hot & vice-versa. It's amazing how many corner's they cut to mass produce. They really need to hire quality crews or be prepared to fix problems in a timely manner without cost to the buyer. \r \r Pros: I like the floor plan & amount of land. Cons: Shoddy Workmanship! more

Great Experience, Great House 4/18/2008

Love my house! They did a great job and friendly office. When I did have a problem they fixed it and were a pleasure to deal with. Would highly recommend this builder. Pros: Godd quality, good price more

Loving my House 4/7/2008

I've been in my Scott Lee home for over a year and have nothing but good things to say about them. I did have one minor problem called and someone was at my house within 2 hours fixed it. I would recommend a Scott Lee home in a second. Pros: Great House more

avoid this builder like the plague 1/26/2008

To anyone looking at this builder please steer clear. Have owned a Scott Lee Home and know of about 12 other people who have and had nothing but issues with them. Floor problems, plumbing issues, etc. Once they build the house they are gone. Getting them to come back out is impossible. Not even sure why they offer a 1 year warranty. I have had to involve my attorney to get them to come back out. It is a really sad. Look elsewhere for a builder. Go with Stancil Builders or someone like that who does more custom work. You have been warned ahead of time.\r \r Ron more
