I have been going to this salon for a while....Debby, Mary, or Lynette have cut my hair....Those are your 3 main girls you want to see. Their work is uptodate and not too expensive ....you will never leave paying too much compared to other salons. I will always recommend this salon to anyone who wants style for an inexpensive price. I love the fact that everyone there is so friendly and informative. I came in from out of town and the hotel recommended this place. I got the best cut of my life. They offer coffee and tea and we all talked together as if we were old girlfriends. The whole shop....I love my cut and I love the time spent there.....anyone would be crazy to think otherwise. I have been going to Mary V. for over 4 years. Her station and her skills are well maintained. She offers insight to well kept secrets and helpful products.....I would never let anyone else touch my hair. I had a recommendation to see Mary for a cut. I made an appointment but was still squeezed in while someone else's color was setting. Her station was a disaster, unorganized, color smeared everywhere, dust, old hair, dirty brushes etc. I sat down and she started to just talk and cut. I stopped her so I could at least tell her what I wanted. She was like okay and continued to talk about herself and stuff. I even ended up drying it myself after while she ate lunch and chatted with other employees. The cut wasn't bad, but it was nothing great. Unless they get their act together, get better organized and clean the place up I wouldn't go back. Plus if you do hair your own hair should look good, as in no two inch black roots. I would definitely recommend this salon. Everyone is so friendly as if they have known you for years. Great prices for such experience. Pros: The gals there have a lot of experience Cons: they take credit cards for tanning only more

I saw a bad review for Mary and had to write and say she has done my hair color for many years and I couldn't be happier. She is a perfectionist and knows her stuff. I get so many compliments on my hair. She also did my hair for my wedding. She is so personable and professional at the same time. She offers helpful suggestions too on how to take care of my hair. Pros: Everything Cons: uhhh....none more

I do not recommend this place at all. This was a true haircut disaster. Pros: clean. adequate parking. Cons: didn't give the hairstyle that was requested. Take credit cards only for products. more

***WORST SALON IN MONTEREY!!!*** This was the worst experience I have ever had at a salon! My hair appointment was for a cut and color with MARY. Her baby was wandering around the salon with no supervision. Her work station was filthy. Her foils were unorganized. She pulled hair from one foil and put it into a different one with an entirely different color. She half-hazzardly applied the color, which didn't cover all of the hair. I had stripes and sections of hair that had two and three different colors on it. I knew that everything she was doing was WRONG! Once she started with the color-it was too late to leave. I had to track her down when the color began to burn my scalp. My hair was dried out. I asked her to trim the back and slither the sides. She hacked into my hair. I told her that I did not want layers. She preceded to do exactly what she wanted. I went in with one-length blonde hair down to my lower back. I came out with bangs, layers and multi-colors in all the wrong areas. I paid her and left. I gave myself a few days to cool down and contacted the salon. I spoke with the owner/manager DEBBIE. I explained the situation and asked for a refund. I also requested that she be the ""go between"" so that I did not have to speak with Mary ever again!!! She sounded empathetic and said she would speak with Mary. She had Mary contact me and leave a message indicating that she was willing to redo my hair free of charge. There was no way I would submit myself to that kind of torture again. I called dayly for over a week to attempt to resolve the issue. Debie would not return my calls. They must have caller ID because the majority of the time they wouldn't even answer the phone. A business not answering their phone?! TRUST me - NEVER go to this salon!!! more

I just moved here and I wandered into the salon with a picture of Eva Mendez said ""this is what I want"" So sure, as an asian girl I didn't leave the slaon looking like a smoldering latin temptress, but Carrie made me look just as amazing. She told me what she was doing as she did it and I was the belle of the ball that night. A few weeks later I came in needing a shampoo and cut. Coming from the City (san francisco) I wasn't sure what I was in for, and I didn't even know what kind of cut I wanted, but I left the salon and the AMAZING hands of Mary V. with exactly the look I wanted. Highlights, cuts, updos and all, unless I move again, it's my new home away from home! Pros: everything! Cons: make a reservation! These girls book up fast! more
