Editorial review from Citysearch 6/19/2012

I normally do not write bad reviews because I understand that mistakes can be made, but my experience at Savvi Formalwear was terrible. I had an appointment to try on wedding dresses and it took an hour and a half to get service! I arrived 10 minutes early and filled out the needed information about my wedding and the dress I wanted, but this was pointless because they didn't read any of the information. Once I got service, an hour and a half later, they took me into a tiny dressing room instead of their main wedding room (Don't go here if you want a great wedding dress experience). Luckily, I found the perfect wedding dress! We were all crying and were happy as could be until they told me that even on rush order they could not get the dress (in four months). They could of prevented this by looking at the information, that I had filled out 2 hours before hand and finding the date that I needed the dress. They would not even work with me to sell me the sample. I called around and the first place I called was willing to sell me the sample. Savvi Formalwear was nice enough to find out if a sample size could be altered from a size 12 to 6. Because they took the time to find this out we went ahead and ordered our bridesmaid gowns here. All of my bridesmaids were measured and they were all told that they were 3 different sizes and they were then asked to pick a size without any professional advice. I found this to be very strange. They did the same thing with me initially, when I found my wedding dress. The person who is measuring you should give you professional advice on what size you are. They shouldn't tell you that, ""your bust is a 4, your waist is a 6 and your hips are an 8, what size do you want?"" They wouldn't even give any advice when asked! Once our bridal gowns arrived, I had my maid of honor pick everyone's dress up. As we were checking the dresses over we noticed a black marker mark on the left breast of the dress. We called them and they wouldn't do anything about it because the dress had already left their facility!!! We took the dress to the dry cleaners but they couldn't do anything to get the noticeable spot out. It was very obvious that Savvi formal wear was responsible for the spot because they wrote the bridesmaid's names, in permanent marker, on the plastic dress cover and there was a hole in the plastic right where the black mark was. The only thing we were able to do was sew fabric over the spot. The owner of this place was very rude from the beginning, has a terrible attitude and does not care about customers. more

Denise and her team are amazing. Savvi 6/2/2012

Denise and her team are amazing. Savvi was the second shop I stopped into when looking for my wedding dress last November. I chose a few dresses from the book and the woman who helped me was great. I tried on dresses that were beautiful but unfortunately were not 'the one.' The owner, Denise, was called into the dressing room. Although quite busy, Denise took the time to ask me a few questions and then left the room. After a few minutes, she returned with two absolutely stunning dresses. The second one, was THE ONE! I fell in love. Denise explained to me why I loved it-how it fit my body type. She was extremely helpful. I didn't purchase right away and felt absolutely no pressure to do so. However, I did come back for the dress after visiting yet another bridal store- thinking I might find something comparable. The positive experience at Savvi alone, brought me back. That and I really appreciated the fact that Savvi carried BEAUTIFUL dresses in sizes larger than 14. The dress that I bought from Savvi made me feel beautiful. No one, except my mother, saw my wedding dress before the wedding and everyone raved about it. It was more than what I have ever imagined for myself and my wedding. Being an older bride, I did not feel like a princess, I felt like a queen. Thank you Denise. Thank you Savvi Formalwear! S. Mahin P.S. If you spend the time, Denise is super funny. more

Fabulous Groom's Suit 3/16/2012

My husband and I chose Savvi Formalwear for our wedding party and it was the right choice! My husband looked absolutely stunning in his suit. The style of the suit was just perfect. It fit him like a glove. Savvi is a real winner when it comes to wedding attire. more

Elvis said, ""Don't Be Cruel"". Savvi works hard to please. 10/3/2011

I have never experienced better quality service and helpfulness from any company in the Triangle. I liked the fact that the owner stayed a bit late and did not try to rush me out the door, or rush me into a sale because it was closing time. I still made the wedding dress purchase a week later because of all the extra time and energy the owner spent helping me make a final non-rushed decision. more

Best Dresses, Best Management, Best Value 9/22/2011

When a business has to contact previous customers to say good things about them because hundreds of satisfied customers forget to write about how great their experience is, I feel bad. I definitely used Savvi and definitely would use them again, except I am not planning on getting married again since I did happen to agree to ""death do us part"". But I definitely have recommend them to friends who have gotten engaged, and also several neighbors who are getting married soon as well. I had no problems. I do agree that as a country we need to start thanking businesses more and complaining less. more

BEST WEDDING DRESS SELECTION: BEST SERVICE 9/22/2011

I am sooooo TIRED of complainers in this country. CitySearch has become the very first place a person goes when they don't have everything flawless. Instead of talking to the business, or the business owner, they come right to CitySearch and complain. The irony is that when they come and complain, they don't get their problem resolved, or don't get a solution. \r \r I have had ZERO problems with Savvi, and not only did I use them for my wedding dresses, and bridesmaid gowns, 3 of my bridesmaids used them again for their wedding dresses, a year after I was married. \r \r People on citysearch need to grow up and start acting like adults and stop complaining and EXAGGERATING. more

worst customer service. great bridesmaid dresses. 6/29/2011

My bridesmaids and flower girls picked out their dresses, were measured, and placed their orders well over 3 months prior to the wedding date. We were told that in order to guarantee the same dye lot (so that all dresses would be made from the same bolt of cloth), they would not be ordered until all girls had been measured. Long story short, the dresses trickled in one after the other starting 2 weeks before the wedding. The last 3 came in 5 days before the wedding. Talk about panic over getting alterations done!! While we understand that the dresses were custom made and coming from California, we received extremely poor customer service. Since the dresses were paid for in full up front, the store owner exhibited no concern whatsoever that our dresses may not make it in time for the wedding. She simply stated it was not her problem, that the dresses should have been ordered sooner. Clearly there is a gap in communication between her staff and their customers. We were assured at the time of purchase that 3 months was more than enough time for the dresses to come in--that the time line was anywhere from 6-12 weeks. The dresses were ordered 15 weeks prior to the wedding date. There was no indication or warning from the staff that we should have ordered sooner. I have never felt so insignificant as a consumer--if you are a bride, do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere. You do not deserve to be treated like you don't matter. What really gets me is that when we compared the dye lots after all the dresses finally came in, they were from 3 different dye lots--so the owner's reasoning behind the delay that they were all being cut from the same bolt of cloth was a total lie. more

Great service! 5/2/2011

I was very impressed by them on our first visit last summer when they very kindly and willingly measured my son for a tux, knowing we would be ordering it elsewhere for an out of town event and they wouldn't be making a dime from it. We promised to come back and when we did 8 months later, they actually remembered us. We used them for both Queen of Hearts and the Broughton Jr/Sr. They couldn't have been nicer and more patient in discussing styles with my teenage son. Great service, great selection, great prices....HIGHLY recommended! more

Excellent Bridal Service 1/29/2011

I visited this shop yesterday (Saturday) with my sister. It was our first day bridal shopping and the third store we visited. Our first stop would not take us because they were booked with appointments. The second shop was all discontinued stock and did not have anything her size, also the staff was not very attentive. Savvi's was very busy, but fit us in because they had a cancellation. We were fortunate to work directly with the owner/manager who asked all the right questions and helped us make a choice in only 30 minutes. Their process helps keep you from feeling overwhelmed, they are very focused on you and what you want. They also custom order each dress for the customer. I would highly recommend Denise and her shop. Suggestions would be to make an appointment, have an idea of what you want, be prepared to make a decision (discounts for same day purchase and bundling bridesmaid and groomsmen wear) and shop early (new fashions can take up to four months to order). more
