Santa Barbara Koi

For over 10 years, Santa Barbara Koi has done an excellent job in maintaining two ponds on the estate I manage. The previous pond company claimed the largest pond could not be stocked with koi due to its limitations, and Mark Davis has proved that statement was wrong. We have beautiful koi, lovely plants and many compliments from guests. Mark and Jill Davis and their staff are always professional and respond immediately when I call, regardless of the day or time, including a call back from Japan where they were shopping for koi! I want to say a big thank you to Mark and Jill Davis and there excellent crew for taking care of our koi pound for the last 15 years. We had an accident a couple years ago when a gallon of paint fell into our koi pound when our house was being painted. Mark rushed right over and spent all day and through the night saving our very expensive Kol. It took over four weeks of medicating and coming over every day to get our koi healthy again. Santa Barbara Koi has provided my pond service for the past 7 years and I could not ask for more knowledgeable, efficient or courteous service. I have had 2 large koi ponds for over 20 years and have dealt with a number of companies, but not until I began working with Mark Davis, have my ponds and fish been as meticulously cared for as they are now. Mark has always responded to my calls day and night. (Calls to other companies had resulted in the loss of fish, time and money from the lack of proper response time). We have watched the development of SBKoi from its beginning and have always been impressed by their professional approach to pond construction & maintenance as well as fish care. When I get sick to must go TO the doctor; if your fish ever get sick Mark & Jill will come OUT and take care of them including bringing them back to a ""safe pond"" until they are well and their home pond has been corrected. Mark & Jill travel to several countries around the world to find the most colorful & highest quality koi available at competitive prices. They bring them back and keep them in isolation ponds until proven to be 100% healthy before offering them for sale. What more can you ask for? more

?Our pond was constructed in 2002.Mark Davis was involved in the design of the filtering system and in pond lighting. We have been very pleased with the outcome. Everything he does is highly professional. He offers opinions and options as needed for the proper maintenance of the pond. Mark, Jill and all the employees at Santa Barbara Koi are courteous and cheerful. They work hard to maintain the ponds? environment for the fish , plants and overall appearance. Most important of all is Mark?s response to urgent situations. Several have occurred since 2002. Mark is on the phone and then at my home as fast as he is able and always within an acceptable time period. In particular are the time things have occurred while we were away and the housekeeper had need to call him. After his assessment he made suggestions to her and phoned me . To me maintaining the pond?s unique environment is a bit more than taking care of house pets. It concerns the quality of the water, the interdependency of fish to plants, feeding and proper filtering. In my experience, I rely on reputation through word-of-mouth from people that I trust. In the case of Santa Barbara Koi, I asked my contractor for a first-rate pool and fountain service and was given Mark's name and number. In the five years, or so I've been using Santa Barbara Koi I could not be more satisfied. Recently, Mark contacted me regarding a problem with my pump. The worst case scenario called for an expenditure as high as $800. However, Mark suggested replacing a couple of parts and monitoring the performance. ""Let's not spend the money,"" Mark said, ""if we don't have to."" The pump has been working fine ever since the fix. Bottom Line: I trust him. You can't get better than that! more

Do not waste your time with this guy. He talks a big talk but has zero follow through skills. Made several appointments for a detailed residential pond installation and service job that he never kept or even called to reschedule. Every time I called to ask where he or his crew were he would set another date but again would not show. Wasted my time four times in a two week span waiting around for him to show each time! Not waiting anymore ~ Very poor customer service! I will find a pond care expert who believes in and practices excellent customer relations..... Too bad Santa Barbara Koi does not! more
