Best

Great food, best Thai restaurant for me. Great value for the food. Best is they open late. lately they are only accepting cash, bummer.

Worst

It's passable, and for the price, not too bad, but very definitely not very good. Stewed duck noodle soup....

best thai food in LA 6/28/2006

this place is cheap and DELICIOUS. it's got the yummiest, spiciest, best thai food i've ever had. I love the mint noodles in particular. The menu is huge and two people can eat for 10 bucks, and be completely full. My only complaints are that parking is horrible (an inept valet man and VERY limited street parking) and service can be really slow. But, whatever: the food makes it all worth it. more

North Hollywood? No way. 5/11/2006

I don't get the folks saying the North Hollywood location is better. I've been there a couple times, and think the Hollywood one is better. Then again, it has a kind of Chinese thing going on with the food, and maybe that's just what I'm used to. When I ate meat, I really liked the duck with noodles. All their noodles are good. Their appetizers are good. I'm so-so on their Pad Thai and their rice dishes. Also, I prefer the kick-back outdoors mini-mall atmosphere to a formal restaurant, especially when the weather's great. Pros: food, outdoor seating Cons: parking sucks more

Food and Fun 3/6/2006

This is by far one of my favorite places to go. Their Thai iced tea with boba (tapioca pearls) is the most delicious of all the Thai teas that I've tried in Los Angeles. They're open super late, so it's a great spot to go for any occasion -- to get a drink, after a night out at the bar, for an afternoon snack, or for a huge and cheap dinner with friends. The ambience is super cheesy, but really fun. I highly recommend (in addition to the Thai tea): the tom kha-kai (soup with coconut milk, lemon grass, chicken, mushrooms, cilantro), spicy beef salad (cilantro, beef, cucumbers, lime juice, onions, lettuce), and all their pad thai noodles. And the satay with peanut sauce. I love how the menu has pictures, so it's easy to point to something and say, ""oooh, I want THAT!"" Pros: Open LATE!, Thai iced tea, Price Cons: Parking, Neighborhood more

Great Variety of food, good price, late night 1/27/2006

As a thai food critic, this is by far the most unamericanized thai food and ambiance. Many curry's so there's a great mixture of food. If you want an alternative for late night denny's, there are egg dishes. You do have have to get the waiters attention so if you like undevided weighting attention you won't like it. I love that we could roll in after hours with a group of 8+ and we could all sit together even if on eachothers laps, and get such flavorful food, for little $. Oh and YOU NEED CASH, no C.C. accepted! Pros: Flavor,Flavor, fat!, Inexpensive, can speak loud Cons: Cash only, Crazy parking more

A Gem in LA! 4/4/2005

Finally found a place in LA with excellent Thai food. I think the biggest problem was that I was pretty much staying in my hood, the Westside. You don't go to Sanamluang for its ambience, but rather excellent Thai food! Dishes come in nice portions, are full of flavor and VERY reasonable! Service is great and super fast. Definitely try to get there before midnight because it tends to get crowded after! Pros: Food, Service, Prices Cons: Parking more

Great Thai Food 1/5/2005

A great place to eat Thai food. A great after hours eatery. Im pretty much only there after hours on the weekend. I would recomend the #64 beef with eggs its awesome and the combination fried rice as a dish is never a dissapointment, Pad-see-ewe, and phad thia are excellent too. oh yeah with eggs on top! If you're there on a fri or sat the after hours rush starts at 1:00AM and continues till 3:00AM. So expect to wait for a seat. Service is fast and courteous, the area and building are old but was just renovated about 2 years ago, but the food is worth it. Pros: good food, cheap, open late more

Love the Pad Thai 6/27/2004

These guys have THE best pad thai in town. And the garlic beef over rice is awesome too. Ok, it's not exactly Spago's fine linen and scenery. But if you want great thai, regardless of the price, and this place is soooo cheap, then come here. AND, they're open til 4a on the weekend. Wether I've been partying in Hermosa or Pasadena, I try to come out here for those late nite munchies! Love this place! By the way, those late nite lines are kinda long, but SOOOOOO worth the wait. Pros: Pad Thai, Garlic Beef over rice, Open Late more

Sanam Luang Cafe in North Hollywood is the best. The one in Hollywood is kindo of shadey, plus the waitresses are kind of snotty. If you do decide to have a meal at Sanam Luang, go to the North Hollywood Cafe. The selection is better, the people are more attentive, and they give you more food! Pros: Food, People, Prices Cons: Parking, Crowds more
