Hidden Warranty Fee 5/4/2011

Purchased a new Toyota last year w/ the top level extended warranty. Went to get warranty work done at a different Toyota dealer and was told that if I attempt to get work done at any location except San Marcos Toyota I would have to pay a $100 fee (called a deductible) to San Marcos Toyota. This is pure nonsense. What happens if I move? Do I always have to pay to utilize the warranty I already paid for? more

Service is less than lacking 3/8/2011

I had a tire blow out on IH35 on Monday during rush hour, as if that were not enough excitement I was pleased to find out that I was an hour too late to get my Prius in anywhere that might have my unusual sized tires. Tuesday morning at 8a.m. I called all the usual tire places in San Marcos and surprisingly found that the dealership, San Marcos Toyota, had the best deal on tires, but would have to order them and they would not be in store ready to install till the following morning. Ok, fine!...When I arrived at the dealership on Wednesday morning prepared to sit at the dealership for the three hours they told me it would take to change the four tires I ordered, they informed me that they would have to go pick up some other tires from a dealership in New Braunfels (a store they dont normally do business with but they would for me, it would cost them a little extra but it is all they could do for me to get me to work at some point by the end of the day) So I sat stranded at the dealership for hours with no communication from the employees, they blew off all my concerns about a possible link between a recent recall in Tundra tire sensors and the incident I had where no tire senor indicator came on prior to flat. I felt very ignored and dismissed by the staff, those that had to time to speak didn't seem to know anything and would just refer me to one particular gentleman who did not have time to deal with me and was less than friendly. I would never recomend this dealership to anyone, if this is what service after the sale involves, I would be scared to hand them any money. more

Corolla or Camry? 10/3/2009

I am a Toyota fan period, but not any more! I have owned Toyotas since the early 80's and never had a problem. That was until my very old Toyota Celica, (caringly maintained and loved) decided to give me the hint it was time to get something newer. With that many miles I was served well. \r As many of you Toyota fans out there know that Toyota no longer makes the Celica (Shame). I had to decide between a Corolla or maybe even a Camry. This I found to be a hard choice, as I did indeed want a coupe to replace what I have had for so long.\r I had looked at several options online and in parking lots and was already to make the visit to a local dealership, for me San Marcos Toyota was the better of the choices I had with either Austin or San Antonio it is right in the middle, and out of city traffic.\r When I got there I noticed what looked like a 2 door coupe (a perfect fit for me) on the showroom could this be a revival of the Celica? Was this an illusion? Having not seen this car on the Toyota website I asked who makes this car. I was told that it was Scion, which was the next Heir to the Toyota brand, a brand I had never heard of but I was now quickly fading on the Idea of a Corolla or a Camry, (as the youthful feeling inside me was jumping around). I was trying not to show the salesperson. \r The sales person was not your typical sales person; he seemed comfortable around me, answered all my questions and never once pressured me to buy the Scion tC. He said it was because he was confident that the price I saw was the price I would pay, as advertised. Simple! Before you knew it I was driving the tC off the lot, no not for a test drive but for keeps. It was mine and I never once felt I was been forced into the car. Great Job San Marcos Toyota & ""Scion"" you have made a keeper out of me. You were worth the 50 mile drive.\r I still have my Celica and have no intensions of parting with it, ever.\r Pros: Friendly people in a time of need Cons: Not that I was looking for any more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! 7/9/2009

These are the most unethical people I've ever met. Sold my son a car under the ""college graduate program"", offered him the $1000 off but told him he'd need to provide 5 references and copy of diploma in order to get the rebate. He provided that info and was given the car keys and told he could go. His grandfather, the co-signer, hadn't even signed paperwork yet. Upon going to get perm tags for the car, he was told ""oh by the way, we need an offer letter from an employer or we'll have to renig on the $1000 college grad rebate. You don't have to accept the offer and you can even have a friend put it on company letterhead as long as Toyota has something on file about a job"". Can you imagine the gall of that? They said they'd fix the problem but it's taken over 30 days to get a lousy acct number so payment could be made. AND they didn't tell us he had 90 days before first payment would be due. There is so much more, but I simply don't have enough space Pros: Great at talking the talk of being a great company! Cons: Don't walk the walk! Don't respond to phone calls ever! more

great experiance 3/2/2009

I contacted San Marcos Toyota via email looking for a new Toyota for my daughter. I worked with Peter Molina, Jeremy Sims, and Andrew McCullagh. A few email exchanges and a couple of phone calls later we worked out a great price. We settled on the price Friday evening. I told Peter he should expect my daughter in San Marcos1st thing in the AM. I was on edge since this was my daughter's 1st new car buying experience and it was pretty important to me the deal go exactly as planned. Well, if you could have see my daughter's HAPPY face as she drove off in her new Toyota. Thanks Peter and the San Marcos Toyota team, a job well done. Pros: easy negotiations, no curveballs, knowledgeable, nice people, happy daughter more
