Samy's Cameras

I have no problems with this samys store but i do have a big problem with the samys online store. I orderd binoculars that were $2000 for a customer on 11/23/2011 and when the salesperson asked for my name and address I gave them my business address and I specifically told them it was a business address. On Monday when I called the samys 1-800 to check the status of the order the salesperson I talked to said they would get back to me with a tracking number--well they never called back and I even called the 1-800 and left a message with their order status department and no one called me. I called tuesday 11/29 and after several tries got through to the salesperson I originally ordered through and they finally gave me the tracking number. When I called FEDEX to check I was informed that samys had sent the package fedex ground residential and that they also left the suite number off so fedex couldn't find our address and didn't deliver. Now the customer who ordered the $2000 binoculars is on a plane to korea and doesn't want to go through the trouble of having to pay for shipping to korea not to mention the tax he will have to pay once the $2000 binoculars reaches Korean Customs. more

This camera shop is cater to ""A"" class people. If you were minority like me you will be less important to them. You will be the last priority or they're just don't talk to you at all. The way they stare at me makes me uncomfortable. They don't even smile or greet you. I'm not racist towards white people. I'm just saying is the way they treat other race/class. I think this people were not train how to be ""wholesome"" to other race. They have the best deals and equipment here. The only problem is this ""people"" working at the counter. Makes me sad. There's one good camera shop in hollywood called ""Simon's Camera"". Great stuff. They will treat you equal and valuable customer. more

I wanted to thank Samy's Camera and especially Rod in mail order for his excellent customer service. My husband and I are leaving for a trip to Hawaii and wanted an underwater camera, the Panasonic Lumix TS3. After trying the usual places, I contacted you - not only did you have the camera in stock but Rod was able to expedite the order and it arrived the last Friday as promised. When I need or want something new, I will now look to you guys first. Thanks again! more

I love this place, they always have excellent service here. I feel like a kid in a candy store whenever I come here! I don't live really close but when I am in the area, Samy's is always on my list of stops. more

Ian was super helpful and extremely patient. He knew a lot about the type of camera I was looking for so that was really helpful. He walked me through the store showing me a few things that I should consider and I left the store with a new SLR camera. more

The store is awesome! It's big and there's lots to look at. I could probably spend half a day just looking at the cameras they sell. I just got back into photography and I'll come here at least every other weekend just to look around. They always have excellent service here and really great deals. more

I bought a camera 3 years back from Scott and he was extraordinarily informative, helpful and patient. I heard he transferred to another Samy's Camera and I went there today to buy another camera and heard he was transferred back and especially made the trip over just to be sure he assisted me with my purchase today. Scott consistently provides the BEST customer service and I will ALWAYS come back to Scott for future purchases. more

Before buying my Canon 5D and accessories I researched prices and services online. After a couple of weeks I decided to swing by Samy's. David thoroughly helped me set up a custom made offer for a kit, and when I returned the following week Larry helped me tweak it to excellence with honest a knowledgeable advice. In the lighting department, Ken showed me the same kind of patience and skill, and now I can't wait to play with my ""toys""!! Will I return to Samy's when I need to expand my kit?...It's a duh! more

I have been a customer here since my favorite shop closed 2-3 years ago ""Studio City Camera Exch."" What I really like about Samy's is that they they know their stuff. I'd rather shop somewhere where the sales people are knowledgeable and educated and they are not there to tickle my fancy, rather than to go to a mall type store where they are really nice and polite and courteous, but they don't know anything about what they are talking about. more

When I first came to Samy's more then four years ago for the very first time I have to admit I was overwhelmed by the amount of inventory that they have. I am glad that they have this huge inventory because not once have I not been able to get what I needed at the moment I was there. Every time I needed to get something it was in stock. My favorite sales person who works there is Patrick. Patrick is a photographer for himself so he knows the cameras that he is selling. Pretty much all the sales people who work there are photographers and know what they are talking about when it comes to cameras. If you are looking at getting a new camera come here and not at some superstore. Yes, they do get busy at times and you may have to wait, but its worth it! more

Samy's rocks!! I just picked up a new Canon, Samy's went above and beyond for me. A giant THANK YOU!! Too many people think they have to get stuff from B and H to save money, not true, Samy's matches all prices if not bettering them. And if you have a problem, Samy's is right here in LA, not New York, Samy's has always supported me and my gear. I am a professional photographer, I have Covers running on national magazines, Samy's rental and sales support have the gear to give me the confidence to tackle any job. Its nice coming in and actually seeing Samy, the owner right there. In this day of internet sales it's nice to know its still a family run business, with real live human to human service, keep up the good work guys!!! more

I needed a quick replacement for my underwater camera while on assignment. It was unbelievable to me but it took them just 5 minutes and I was set. I did not have to explain anything. The Samy's guy knew it all. Fantastic. Clean, honest and precise. That's how I want it. more

There are a lot of camera shops in LA and being a photography student I've been to many of them. This is by far the best. Not only do they have an amazing selection , but the staff is super helpful and always help you find what you're looking for. more
