Great for anyone.... 9/16/2009

This is a great place for anyone. If you know what you want done with your hair they're great at listening. If you're not sure what to do they're also great at suggesting and making sure you understand exactly what their ideas are for you! I just recently moved here and went online to get ideas of where to go that would be convenient as well as not disappointing. I had a great experience. Derrick sat down with me before he did anything else to discuss what I wanted done and gave me suggestions making sure I understood exactly what his end goal was for my hair cut and when he styled it he made sure to explain every step and what he was using so that I could get the same look at home. He was more than helpful and it was a FABULOUS experience! I would highly recommend Salon Dacota to anyone needing a new salon for any reason! Pros: They LISTEN Cons: I can't think of one.... more

Great Salon 9/12/2009

After going to a stylist for a few months, I was already looking for a change. Valla took the time to ask me what I wanted and gave me a great style. I finally have a haircut I'm excited about. The 25% bonus for new customers was also a big bonus! Pros: great staff, comfortable atmosphere Cons: a little pricier than I'm used to more

I am SO excited that I finally found a great salon in the St Louis area and a great stylist. after a year of ok haircuts but not great, i booked an appt with Valla at Salon Dacota. She was pleasant, professional, and worked with my difficult hair to create a great cut that works with my low-maintenance hair approach. I highly recommend this salon, and even though i have to drive out from the city to go here, it is well worth it. Book with Valla, you will not be disappointed! Enjoying my new do. 9/6/2009

I went to Salon Dacota for the first time a couple of months ago, on a friends recommendation. I really didn't know what I wanted done to my hair, I just knew it wasn't working for me. I brought a picture in and kind of gave Valla creative control. She cut off A LOT of hair, but in the end, it was terrific. I have always hated styling my hair, but the cut she game me is an actual ""style"" and doesn't take long at all for me to do. The products (Eufora) are a little pricey for my taste, but I bought it and love it. I travel a bit over 2 hrs to get to the salon, but have family in the area, so it's ok. I get compliments all the time (even by men!) and feel great with my new do. Pros: Nice stylist. Cons: Higher prices than I'm used to. more

Great salon 9/4/2009

I love Salon Dactoa and the truly love my stylist Bobbie. I have been going to him for over a year and have never received so many compliments on my hair. Strangers have stopped me to comment on my hair and who styles it. I’ve had my Mom, my best friends, and people at work going to Bobbie now and all of them are also very happy with their hair style and return. I’ve gone to Bobbie for coloring, highlights, cut, and styles for special occasions. Bobbie is a true professional and an open and caring individual who puts his clients first. \r The salon’s other employees are always very welcoming, making sure that you are comfortable and have everything that you might need. I love that the décor is constantly changing and it is a very calming space. The salon also offers Eufora products that have changed my hair for the better and are totally worth the investment.\r I would very much recommend this salon to others. more

I went to Salon Dacota for the first time last week. I called Saturday and was surprised to get an appointment that day! I am sure that doesnt happen to often but I am really glad it happened for me . I had a wonderful experience. I was referred by a friend and she told me to see Chrissy. She was Awesomel!!! She took her time to get to know me and what I was really looking for in a new hairstyle. She did a fabulous job and I will definitely be going back. It was so nice to get compiments on my new hairstyle all week long! more

Bobbi is a true artist and hair is his medium! 8/31/2009

Okay, I was about to turn 50 and needed a new look. Although I have always been pleased with my hair while working with Bobbi - now was the time to step out of my comfort zone. And wow, did Bobbi deliver!!!! My new color is as Bobbi says ""a romantic blonde"" and quite blond it is. At first I was a bit shocked (even though we thoroughly discussed the color change) - and then, one day at a time I began loving the new look - the color and style are perfect and so pretty and the compliments just keep coming. Trisha cut my hair and did an awesome job. I loved that she sat down and talked to me about why I chose a new hairdresser (obviosly there was a problem with the old one).\r \r Great service, great atmosphere...highly recommend it. more

The coolest salon I've been to in St. Louis 8/22/2009

I was referred to one of the owners, Chrissy, who did an amazing job on my highlights and trim. I brought in a picture of what I wanted and she matched it almost exactly. She was very meticulous and took her time which made me feel like I was really getting my money's worth. Pros: Stylish decor, upbeat environment, friendly staff Cons: A little pricey but well worth it more

Great Haircut, Great Experience 8/19/2009

I went to Salon Dacota for the first time last week, in spite of living less than 5 minutes from the salon for as long as it's been in business. I loved the fact that I was able to research each stylist on their website before scheduling an appointment. I found a stylist who I thought would understand my lifestyle well. Trish spent a great deal of time with me before my haircut to ask about how much time I have to do my hair, how much effort I want to put into it (I have very curly hair) and what I both like and dislike about my hair. I left the salon feeling great about my new cut. I've since encountered some ""technical difficulties"" with my haircut, meaning I've had some trouble getting it to do what I want it to, but I mostly attribute them to the humidity levels I've been in since the time of my cut. I will go back to Trish again for both another haircut and color. Pros: Stylist took her time more

My favorite things are that they spend a lot of time with each customer, really perfecting the look, and it's very updated and stylish. Best Salon Experience Ever! 8/17/2009

I really enjoyed my experience at Salon Dacota. The entire experience is incredible. I was able to book a schedule very easily and the receptionist was friendly and really worked with me. My stylist - Erica Walker - provided me with a great consultation at the beginning of my appointment and really helped me figure out what I wanted. The shampoo and conditioning is done in a separate and relaxing room. I really liked the paraffin wax treatment for my hands. Erica cut my hair after washing it and gave me the exact style we had discussed - after drying my hair she cut it again and it was a great finish to the cut. The style Erica gave me was perfect and she took the time to make it look great. I also had Erica wax my eyebrows and she did a wonderful job and I loved the new shape of my eyebrows. I would highly recommend Salon Dacota to anyone looking for a great salon experience with professional stylists at a reasonable price. I will definitely be a loyal customer. Great PR campaign on City Search 8/17/2009

Silly me for making an appointment based on what I read on City Search. I made an appointment for a cut and full highlight. The cut was nothing spectacular and the highlights were horrid. Certainly not worth the amount charged. The stylist used ash toned highlights which ended up looking green on my head and instead of sublte highlights as I stated I wanted they were chunky clumps. Also, there was a good 1/2 inch between the highlight and my scalp. When I mentioned this the stylist said it would blend since I would be in the sun a lot. I should have insisted she redo the highlights, but didn't want to risk it. I went back to my stylist of many years and she fixed the mess.\r \r While I was in the chair I was seated next to the salon owners station and laptop. He was chatting way to loudly with another stylist and customer about selling the salon, financial issues and landlord problems (apparently the roof has big issues and the center is losing tenants). His laptop was also open to City Search and the screen was midway through a typed review that was to be posted. I came home and sure enough that review is here. It was after taking time to read most of the reviews that I realized how similar most of them are and that this was probably a daily habit for the then owner. I think it would be time better invested in stylist training. \r \r I will never go back to this salon. It is a glorified Great Clips with an owner who is outstanding at PR. To bad the service doesn't match the hype, if it had I would have been a great customer. Cons: overpriced for what you get more

Amazing Hair Salon! 8/10/2009

I usually go to the hair schools to get my hair cut and colored. This time I had a little bit to splurge with. So as Im driving down Manchester Rd. I spotted Salon Dacota. They got me right in, My stylist was Bobbi. He is the BEST! I came in with a vision and he accomplished that and so much more, They have complementary hand moisturiser that is amazing. I would definately recommend them to everyone, and I will definately be back! Pros: Not only a great cut and color the atmosphere is inviting! more
