West County's Best! 1/4/2009

Salon Dacota in Ballwin is superb! The Staff is friendly and efficient. Derrick has done my cut and color twice and I am more than pleased with the results. After he works his magic, my set stays for four days!\r Plus, I get tons of compliments on the shine and movement. He is an excellent colorist (touchups and foils) and they use high quality products. He will discuss just what you want and show you the colors and how your cut will turn out. You get just what you ask for, only better! Plus, you get a parrifin dip for your hands (complimentary) ,and something to drink while your color sets. Last time I had Blackberry Herbal tea.\r They treat you like an old friend on your first visit and give you a new client discount. \r I highly recommend both Derrick Medley and this Salon. You will be comfortable, well treated, and leave looking like a million bucks! Pros: Very Professional and friendly atmosphere. You get your money's worth. Cons: Only one - their website rarely works - I am never able to get my emails delivered to them. more

Helped me in a pinch! 1/3/2009

My Mom goes to this salon regularly and loves her cut each time. I needed help with a Homecoming style at the last minute when I found out my scheduled appointment (at another salon) was at the wrong time! Michal Abney was super with a last minute schedule change to fit me in and create a gorgeous style for me! Do schedule your appointment the FIRST time at this secret treasure of a salon! The Best Hair Salon in the St. Louis area 12/17/2008

I have been to the salon three times and have had wonderful hair each time by three different stylists. This is truely a talented team. Jessica Derrera is my stylist that I can not live without. She gave me beautiful hair color and a great hair cut. It has been a month since I have seen her and I still get complements on my color and cut. I highly recommend her. Course now I probably will make her so popular I will have to book her way in advance. But that is OK, because all women should walk around with beautiful hair. I called Salon Dacota the other day at the last minute to get my 11 year old son in for a haircut for his Winter Concert. He was very hesitant because he has been growing his hair out for quite some time, (as you know a lot of the boys are doing nowadays) and told him that it would just be a shaping and to not worry. From the moment that I called I was greeted very pleasantly by the receptionist in which I told her what I was wanting for my son and she had just the right person in mind, Mandy who is from Seattle and was very excited to do his particular cut. I was extremely impressed at the level of customer satisfaction everyone offered, (I have been in the beauty industry for the last 10 years) and couldn't wait to see how the experience would turn out. We had to rush over there because we had to be at my son's Winter Concert right after. The second we walked in the door we were once again greeted very pleasantly and offered something to drink. My son and I met Mandy, his stylist and made my son and I feel very welcome and comfortable! Everything worked out great, the cut was just what I was looking for and my son was quite happy too! We told her what time we had to be out of there and she made sure that happened. I was so pleased with the ambiance, the people and the overall experience that the very next day I booked myself and appointment for highlights with Derick who they thought would be suitable for my personal needs. Best Salon Ever! 12/11/2008

When I first came across Salon Dacota, I had just moved to the St. Louis area. One day in particular when I was feeling especially homesick, I was shopping at Taget for supplies for my new apartment. I thought to myself, ""I know what will make me feel better. A haricut!"" As it turns out, Salon Dacota is directly in front of Target on Manchester. I pulled up right in front of the Salon and walked in. The receptionist was very friendly and was able to get me in immediately with Bobbi. Bobbi was amazing. He made me forget completely about being homesick. He first gave me a consultation, where he listened to exactly what I wanted done with my hair, and then washed my hair with a great head massage, dipped my hands in parafin wax, and offered me a complementary beverage. The cut was only the beginning. When he finished cutting, he spent just as much time styling my hair. I left that day feeling amazing! Now I live in the Central West End, but I still drive all the way to Ballwin everytime I need a colour, cut, or style. more

Salon Dacota is the BEST Salon in St. Louis. I've been going to SD for many, many years and I now bring my four year old daughter with me to have her hair cut there as well. The entire Team at SD is fabulous, but my personal favorite is Trish. She has been cutting my hair for over 15 years and I only trust Trish with mine and my daughter's hair. if you want to try something new or have a favorite style that works for you rest assured that Trish will make you look and feel beautiful. Salon Dacota pampers you with style 12/4/2008

Since moving to this area over two years ago I have been searching high and low for a salon. LIke finding a new doctor or dentist this is not an easy task. I found Salon Dacota on the internet, saw the reviews and decided to give it a try.. WOW is about the only thing I can say!! MY experience at Salon Dacota exceeded all my expectations!! From the moment I walked in it was like a breath of fresh air. I felt comfortable and relaxed. My Stylist Mandy really took the time to discuss my cut and the result was the best haircut of my life.\r Case in point: Jumped out of bed the other day threw on my workout clothes and ran to the gym. Halfway through my workout class I had people asking me if I had just come from the salon. Now thats a good haircut.. Thank you Mandy!!! more

The experience at Salon Dacota is first rate. They are professional and listen to what you want. They always guarantee satisfaction (they keep working until you are happy). I have been a customer for many years and won't go anywhere else. I also had the team at Salon Dacota style the hair and do the makie-up for the bridal party at my wedding. I had been going to the same salon since I was five years old and was ready for a change. My sisters and mom had Jessica cut their hair & I just loved it! So I had her cut my hair as well. Awesome Customer Service 11/30/2008

I have had a few bad experiences at some other local ballwin salons and went to Salon Dakota to help repair some of the ""damage"" The staff was extremely friendly and the girl who cut my hair did an AWESOME JOB! She knew her stuff and the difference between the cut she gave me and the other salons i'd been to was like night and day! I even recieved a free parafin on my hands while I waited. I definitely plan to go back! I dont think I'd go anywhere else actually Pros: Service and knowledge Cons: none! more

Looking for a New Salon? This is it! 11/30/2008

I was a walk-in at Salon Dactoa, interested in finding a new salon in the Ballwin-Manchester area. They were able to fit me in that day, and I was definitely impressed! My stylist was very personable and obviously devoted to her work--and to pleasing her clients! The hair washing experience alone was fabulous--included great products and a soothing head massage (no extra charge)! She really took my ideas into consideration, and it was clear that all the stylists there took things like client preference, face shape, and lifestyle into account when making their cuts! They were also helpful in suggesting effective and affordable products for my specific hair type. The general atmosphere of Dacota is relatively up-scale, progressive yet classy, but they keep it very affordable, and the prices are definitely competitive! Overall, I had a great experience and will most likely be returning when the time for another haircut comes! Pros: Ambience, Service, Skill Cons: None! more

Love this place! 11/26/2008

I am a college student and have been getting my hair cut here when I am back from my breaks over the past year... I have had Bobbi and Valla. Each time I've always gotten my hair colored and cut. Both were great and loved what each of them have done every time. Whenever I get my hair done here the stylist(s) always listen to what I want and give me realistic expections too-- they don't do something they don't think would look right or that would work with my hair type, etc. Pros: Great stylists, great line of hair color, great ambience more

I've been going to Salon Dacota for about a year. Before I found Salon Dacota and Chrissy Moorman, I had struggled with finding a good stylist and salon. The salon has a great ambience and Chrissy is fantastic at decoding my vague descriptions about what I'm looking for. I've gotten tons of compliments on my cut and color since I've been going to her. Trish is Great!!! 11/23/2008

I recently moved back to the area and was desperately looking for a stylist. My mom got her hair done with Trish and highly recommended it so I went to her yesterday. She's amazing! I loved my haircut and she even curled it for me. I'm excited about getting my hair colored from her as well. While I got my hair cut, I got a complimentary hand paraffin which was great. While all the stylists seem great, I highly recommend Trish. Pros: Personable, great service! Cons: None! more
