WORST Customer Service EVER IN MY LIFE 2/2/2011

In the past I have been patron of Rush Street, and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Thus, I decided to celebrate my birthday there with my Mom and friends last night. Needless to say, I had the most hideous appalling experience of my life. I have never in my existence ever experienced such heinous, callous, rude, disgusting, unimaginable, insulting, repulsive, and sickening service or behavior. I was told by my server I could make a custom burger, and when my burger came out incorrect, it took twenty minutes for Scott, the manager to come speak with our table. He was aloof, rude, non-chalant, and disrespectful. I would also like to clarify that my CUSTOM burger was a plain hamburger with sauteed onions. THAT WAS IT. No crazy sauces or recipes. Just some grilled onions. We were told that the chef refused to make them as they were only on the lunch menu. I found this ridiculously absurd, and the manager said he ""would see what he could do."" He never came back out to our table to tell us that he couldn't do his job. He sent the server over to tell us they couldn't make them, and when we requested him again, he SHOOK HIS HEAD NO to his from across the room as we were waving for him. I have never in my life walked out on a bill before last night. I was aghast at how disrespected we were. As we were leaving, my Mom said ""Shame on you for how you treated us."" And the manager responded by saying ""No. Shame on you. What kind of guests are you? You are terrible patrons."" He accused my Mother of cussing out the waitress, which she never did. We asked him why it took him so long to come over to the table in the first place, and his response was, ""Don't you think I have other things to do? I was busy."" I think you should be busy with pleasing your customers, seeing as how you are the manager and THAT IS YOUR JOB. He also said there was no point in him ever coming back to our table because the waitress could send us the same message. Scott told us we were no longer welcome at their restaurant, but he has no concern there because we will never give them our business again. No patron should ever be made to feel as if they made a mistake for bringing in business to your restaurant. I would discourage everyone from giving Rush Street your business. Their food and prices ARE NOT worth their poor service. more

Beautiful bar & Great Vibe in Culver City 4/22/2010

I've recently jumped on the Rush Street wagon! Living in Santa Monica, it's hard to motivate me off or Main Street, but once I stepped into Rush I felt like I had found a something a little different. As you walk in you are greeted by a beautiful bar on the right & dinner seating on the left. My conflicting inner foodie & raging lush led me to a spot at the bar - big enough to try the food & still see all the games (hockey, basketball & baseball) I met the bartender & ordered some food. The Salmon was great! I love the Mac & Cheese (who doesn't) & I can't wait to go back & try those smelly (good) truffle fries. Yumm!! My girlfriends showed up a little late, but the hostess was quick to offer us a table once they got there. Well the cute bartender had made some fans, so we just bellied up to the bar & finished our drinks. After meeting some talent at the bar we headed upstairs to check out the lounge & back patio. It was raining that night, so they had tented the patio which was cool, since it gave us a chance to breathe some fresh cool air. The lounge upstairs was super cool - couches & ottomans for comfy dates or big groups. This is a place I will definitely go back to! The staff was super friendly & anxious to accommodate. The food was great, the cocktails were delish & my glass of wine hit the spot! I loved the chill vibe of upstairs & will go back next time I have a party or group of friends that I want to show a good time! Pros: Friendly & Good looking Staff & Customers more

Great food, Great Entertainment 3/28/2010

Arguably the best bar in Culver City. This is a good place if you want a happening bar where you can mingle with other well off people without feeling like you are at a frat party. The beer and wine selections are great and the outdoor patio is amazing! Pros: The food here is very well done Cons: Can be pricey but you are paying for the atmosphere more

Hearty! 1/18/2010

I came here for my best friends dinner last December when they had their holiday pre-fix menu. We all had their steak w/ frittes, seafood chowder, and apple pie. All delicious. I had to unbuckle my belt as soon as I got into the car because I was so full. I just couldnt stop eating it! Pros: Excellent Pre-fix menu Cons: nothing more

Give them a chance for redemption 11/25/2009

I recently went to Rush Street and had a disappointing experience. I was choosing to not go again when management expressed their apologies and invited me to give Rush Street another try. My second experience was delightful! The food was delicious, service timely, and their mac n' cheese was a little bite of heaven. Our server, Adam, was personable, attentive and knowledgeable. Anytime you dine out you run the risk of receiving poor service. However, I recommend giving Rush street a first or second chance if you're in the Culver City area. My friends and family will definitely be back. Thanks Rush Street! Pros: Friendly servers, delicious mac n' cheese Cons: Attitudes of bartenders more

Skip Rush Street. 11/23/2009

Rush street is supposed to be a happening new spot, but its got some serious flaws. First of all, its not a bar or club. Its a restaurant. They're upstairs ""club"" atmosphere is ridiculous. They won't let you upstairs unless you're on some list! I'm already IN the place, but upstairs is for reserved people only. So they have a bouncer checking some made-up list! When you get upstairs, its cramped, stuffy, the couches are uncomfortable, and there isn't enough room to actually GET to the bar to order! The drinks are WAY expensive, too! Go there for dinner, but if you plan to hang out at the ""club"" section, get there early. We got there at 9:15 on a saturday night, and they gave us attitude. In fact, they didn't want to let the Birthday-girl in, and said they're full upstairs! She reserved two tables!!! Pros: Valet Parketing Cons: Rude staff, not enough bars more

Horrible waitstaff, even worse hostess 10/20/2009

I agree with everyone who has complained about the service. Been there 3 times -- restaurant, patio, and lounge upstairs -- and the service has been horrible or mediocre at best. Rude staff and even worse hostess. Despite ordering appetizers, drinks, entrees, and desserts, we were told to leave because we had been there over 2 hours. Why are people still going here when the service is so awful? There are lots of places in LA and Culver City w/good food and good service. Don't waste your time here w/ok food and horrible service. Pros: valet right in front Cons: everything else more

Appealing look 10/6/2009

Great place for a birthday; decorated really nice, drinks are good, they are accommodating (at least for my party). Food isn't so great if you're planning a dinner there. It's overpriced and small portions. The best there is probably the macaroni and cheese (who knew!). The upstairs is beautiful. LOVE how everything is set up. There's an imaginary dancing area (meaning, wherever you wish), patio area, and pole in the middle of the room. hhmm... HAVE FUN! Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: The food more

all show and no substance 7/4/2009

I agree with others who say that the staff are certainly not service-oriented. Bartenders act as if they are too good to acknowledge and serve you. Servers can be all right, though it's h it and miss. We enjoyed our blonde, tatted girl who actually gave a darn about the puddle of oil floating atop one of our dishes, and the hostess that night was very welcoming. A few of the younger male bartenders behold attitudes which will certainly hurt them in the long run, as we will certainly not return primarily because we will not give up our hard-earned salaries to poor quality. Pros: extensively good liquor selection Cons: arrogant bartenders and greasy food more

HORRIBLE Customer Service and MANAGEMENT 6/4/2009

This place has a deplorable front of house operation and no grasp on basic customer service standards. My friends and I reserved a table to watch the Lakers game and have dinner. We spent several hundred dollars. As we were paying our bill. The host approached us and said ""I need this table. You've been here for a while. The Lakers game is over. It's time to go"". I told him this was ridiculous and he became argumentative. Several people from our party wrote in letters to complain. The General Manager called me and told me the host said he offered our group a table upstairs. (A total LIE)! The manager then apologized and offered nothing. He also lied and stated that he left a message for my other friend who wrote a letter of complaint. Not worth stepping foot in again. Cons: Customer service from management more

Only Went For Drinks 5/25/2009

My friend and I went here for drinks and ordered pizza only to be informed that the bartender had not gotten our order in before the kitchen closed. The manager apologized and comped our next round of beers, which was very thoughtful. The music inside was a bit loud for my taste, but going out to the patio was an easy solution. Pros: Good Patio Cons: Loud Music more

Way too much hype 5/21/2009

Well they do have a great turkey sandwich but I was not impressed with the stripper pole hidden in the back of the restaurant. The place echoes at lunch when no one is there and they refuse to do anything different to your order - like if you ask for light salt in the food they say no, if you ask for kethcup not mayonnaise they say no - I am not kidding about this. My father in law cannot eat salt due to his health and they refused to leave any ingredient out of their food - like cheese. At night - although crowded not a whole lot going on. Pros: Great Turkey Sandwich Cons: atmosphere, echos more

Looks Interesting but, Bad Service 4/27/2009

Was very excited to check out the Restaurant with a friend, but, the minute we sat down at the bar, we were greeted with a scowl from the Bartender. We tried to cheer him up by making a little joke to lighten up the situation, but was treated as if we were bugging the heck out of him.\r I Did not get his name, but this is no way to treat a customer. I just wanted a drink and some food. It's Sat. night. \r Food was ok tasting, portions are huge, which is good for some folks. Service at the table was friendlier, but waiter was not around much. Very loud music.\r \r Don't have high expectations. It's only a so-so place. Pros: Interesting cocktails Cons: Horrible service more

Never again.... 2/12/2009

It's a shame. This could be a really great place. But the best atmosphere and food can't make up for horrible service. (not that it has the best food or atmosphere either)\r \r Went here for a friend's b-day. As a large party, they told us a that a fixed menu was required, and the non-alcoholic drinks would be free. Fine, fine. Got there and the ""fixed menu"" was essentially various plates of sliders and other appetizers you could find at TGI Friday's. Yuck. Bill came and we had been charged for all of the sodas. Argued with the ""manager"" for a little while and he graciously agreed to comp us those, but not without some serious attitude. (why would we make something like that up? Anyway, we spent a bundle on bottles of wine and cocktails.)\r \r Determined not to write it off completely, we headed up to the lounge to grab some drinks. Was ok for awhile, then it got way too crowded and the music was questionable. Wanted to leave, but the waiter who had been serving our table was nowhere to be found. (and he had our credit card) Looked around for awhile, no sign of him. Asked a couple other waiters/busboys if they could find him. No Dice. Finally, went in search of a ""manager"" and asked if he could help. He assured me he'd find him. Literally, 20 minutes after our initial request we got the bill. Apparently he had been hanging out with some other bar patrons and was MIA.\r \r Rush Street, get your act together. Run a tighter ship. Get all of your staff on the same page, and only hire folks who have some kind of experience and actually want to be there. I'm a westsider and am all for making Culver City a cooler place to hang, but this is a weak attempt at best. Pros: Eh? Cons: Service, staff, food, choice of music. more
