We have the 3 children attend Royal Academy in Shrewsbury and we are very happy. We come from Rhode Island area to attend this school because it is very much worth the commute. I learned about school from my colleagues at Umass Hospital, many send their kids their. Two of my sons take piano and my daughter takes violin and piano. I would like to recommend them to anyone looking for good school their children. We are studying 4 years there now and enjoy many recitals with family and my kids are keep interest in their lesson studies. School is very good and professional happy staff, always we feel comfortable. more

Disappointed. When we were looking for vocal and piano lessons for my daughter, they were helpful. Unfortunately we had to cancel the lessons. Have been trying to reach Omar by phone and e-mail for at least four weeks now but never a response to our requests for refund. One other issue was that we showed for lesson but instructor had left for 4-5 weeks vacation. We were never notified until we showed for our regularly scheduled lesson. more

I have had my two kids at the Royal Academy for approximately 2 years now and they love it! My youngest (age 7) wanted to quit guitar after he lost interest at another school, but after he and his brother started at the royal academy, they practice more and have even formed their own neighborhood band. Their teacher is Jon and we love him! Like many posts I read here, I agree, I wish I switched them earlier to this school. I highly recommend them. more

I switched both my kids to the this program from another school in Worcester and the difference has been night and day. I'd like to ""kick"" myself for not switching earlier. Everthing about the school is wonderful and they are so friendly and encouraging. I would highly recommend them to anyone with kids. Awesome school! more

Very Great Place! 11/9/2011

We bring to Royal Academy 3 children. We are very happy to be a part of a good place like Royal Academy. I have many friends who bring their kids there and they are the best school. My kids they used to go to Newton school and before that to Natick. Royal Academy is very good place compared to these school's. They have the very good teachers and they are very good to accomodate schedules. My children learn a lot and from my own observing, they play better than my neighbors kids who were taking from another school and my kids take for much less time. I strongly recommend them. We Love This Place! 9/15/2011

I recently started my children in the Royal Academy for Music's in-home lesson program. My husband and I were a little weary of having a stranger come to our home, as I am a recent stay at home mother. A neighbor referred me to this school as her kids take lessons at their Shrewsbury site and she was very happy with the school. We started about 7 months ago and my kids love having their lessons at home. I can also get chores done while they are in their lessons which is great. The quality of their lessons vs. where they used to go for lessons are just not comparable. The Royal Academy is so much more professional and their program is much more formal and well organized. They are very friendly and encouraging. I have since referred 4 friends to them and we continue to be amazed by their care for their students and their professionalism. Hope this helps someone who is considering lessons. They are great! more

A truly great place! 12/7/2010

As a school teacher of 16 years, I can confidently say, this place is great! I have sent my three children to the Royal Academy and referred many of my students, parents, and friends. We attended the Park Avenue school location and always loved the warm recitals they held. Both my kids are in college now and they continue to love playing their instruments. What an ever lasting impression they made on them, I am so thankful. \r I would recommend them to anyone who has kids. Truly one of Worcester's gems. more

Amazing School! 2/20/2010

I have been very impressed with the Royal Academy. Frustratingly enough, my kids have been to three other schools in the Rhode Island area prior to switching to the Royal Academy. Despite the long commute, it is well worth the trip. My children love their teachers and the quality of instruction and communication truly is something to marvel at. I only wish we had found this school sooner. It is ironic that when researching music schools, I read so many wonderful things about the Royal Academy, and here I am writing my own review about them. I only hope other parents can benefit from my experience with this school. They truly have so much to offer, at least that is my experience. My kids look forward to their lessons every week and they actually enjoy practicing with out me having to keep harrassing them..... they are learning so much.....Yay! Pros: Thorough Teaching and Excellent Communication more

A Wonderful Experience for My Whole Family 12/16/2009

After reading all these other reviews I felt compelled to offer my own ""two cents"". After moving to Westborough from Virginia about 15 months ago, the hunt for a good new music school for the kids began shortly after we arrived. \r \r I asked many new colleagues, neighbors and friends advice about music schools in the area and practically every one of them referred me to the Royal Academy.\r \r We first attended one of their student recitals which was held at a college in nearby Worcester, and that is where our love affair began. I was in complete ""awe"" over how some of the students of this school played. There were children that looked no older than 5 or 6 and embarrassingly they played better than my children ages 9, 11and 13, and my kids took lessons for several years back in Virginia. \r \r After the concert we met a nice guy everyone called Mr.T who told us a little about the school and invited us to meet some of the students and parents. \r \r I only wish a school like this existed in Virginia where both my sisters and nieces and nephews live. \r \r So, add me to the list of awesome reviews! I never thought I'd see my kids so excited about their music lessons.\r \r Great Job Royal Academy!....Thanks for The Continued Awesome Experience!\r \r The Frazier Family and LuLu (our dog) Thanks You Too! Pros: Top Notch Teaching Staff..Candy is Good Too! Cons: Wish Their Were More Family Oriented Businesses Like It! more

My children love this school! 12/12/2009

I have two children ages 9 and 11. They began to play piano for 3 years ago my son and for 5 years ago my daughter. I play piano (mother) for almost whole life but can not teach my kids, they are not interested to me. My children take piano lessons in 2 different school before we go to Royal Academy, I see no progress when they learn from other school. They learn very well at Royal Academy and I am very happy about their progress. I have told many friends from church and work about this very good program. I recommend them, don't waste money in other place like me. Pros: very nice staff and organization, supportive environment Cons: parking sometimes difficult time more

We Love The Royal Academy! 3/20/2009

My husband and I are both musicians, he plays the guitar and some keyboard and I grew up playing flute and piano. We tried in the very beginning to teach our children but it did not work. They never quite took us seriously enough. Being musicians actually put us in an awkward position because as musicians, we had high expectations of a school and teacher for our kids. Max, my 9 year old showed the most potential and Sabrina my 7 year old daughter showed the most interest and Ethan, my 5 year old showed the greatest ability to copy either one. We tried teachers that came in to the home but it never quite "panned" out. We also tried two schools, but found the teachers were either in-experienced or not very reliable or consistent. A friend of ours who is also a musician referred us to the Royal Academy. We knew from the first lesson, we found the right place for our kids. From a musician's standpoint, they are awesome! They teach everything exactly how any musician would expect to be taught. There were teaching methods that I even picked up from them while I sat in with my little one Ethan. What was also important to my husband and myself was that our children enjoy their lessons, we did not want it to be a chore for them and the Royal Academy had a great way of working with each of my children on an individual basis. Each lesson for my children was customized differently to suit their personalities, interest and goals while they maintained all the music fundamentals. A juggling act if you ask me! We love the Royal Academy so very much and it is so refreshing to be able to voice that with other parents considering music lessons for their kids. Don't waste your time..."Pass Go" and go straight to the Royal Academy! Thanks Royal Academy! The Jenkins Family! Pros: They Make Music Fun! Great Staff! Convenient Everything! Cons: Wish there was more business like it! more

A Wonderful Place 1/16/2009

My children and I have attended the Royal Academy for several years. \r We are initially from Montreal and have been to the Royal Conservatory\r program and have had a great deal of experience with different schools\r and teachers. \r \r My impression of the Royal Academy at first was they were a very upscale \r and classically oriented school from the credentials of their teachers\r and the ""museum-like"" appearance of the schools. It then occurred to me\r much like their obvious obsession with detail, organization and attention\r it was obviouslu reflected in their teaching and care towards how the school was \r run and especially the education we received. \r \r We have been long term fans of the school ever since and we have all \r progressed incredibly since becoming students. I only wish there was\r something available like this school in Florida where we will be moving\r in June. Please consider opening one there...=)\r \r My kids will carry on what they have learned from their teachers for the rest of their \r lives. ""Mr. T"" and ""Li-Ching"" and all of our friends at theRoyal Academy we will always \r remember the beautiful recitals and concerts and most of our special friendship. \r \r Thank you for giving our children such a great opportunity and growing experience!\r I recommend you to the world!\r \r Brad the Doc!
