The Best School In Central Massachusetts 12/2/2008

My three children have attended their for over 7 years now. Although I must admit there have been incidences where teachers have moved on, but lets face it, this happens in every profession and happened at the last two schools my kids attended. In defense of the Royal Academy whom I felt the need to defend, whether they read this or not, I have never experienced a school, (music or not) that offers so much to their students. My kids do not just have an "end of the year recital" they have been in over 7 recitals every year, not to mention the school requires their teachers give us parents a written student evaluation after every lesson (I love it!). Their facilities are breathtaking and from what I have seen they use only real piano's, no keyboards or digital piano's. When my children attended Robinson music in Westboro, they learned nothing, and were taught on a digital piano. When they studied at the New England Piano Academy it was the same. I assume it is because digital piano's and keyboards are cheaper to learn on and require no maintenance. In my book, it is called "cutting corners". The main reason I first chose the Royal Academy was because they used real piano's for all their lessons in all their studio's and required teachers to have high credentials. Parking is sometimes an issue, I would say due to the popularity and demand of the school's services. I have met many other parents and students at the school and have only heard great things about the Royal Academy not to mention the awards they received and community service they offer. Therefore, I would recommend this school (as I have to all my neighbors and friends) a hundred times over. I also would compare their fees with other major schools in their category as I did, their rates are the least expensive yet they offer far more. I love the Royal Academy and can't fathom anyone writing a bad review on this school! Samantha Shen-Li Pros: Great staff, very accomodating..Great school! more

The worst music school in Shrewsbury 10/13/2008

I recommend that you never let your children go there! My kid was studying there for a half year, and they changed 3 teachers for her, each time with the reason of the teachers' sickness or unexpected thing... except this, the parking is so crowded, sometimes I could not find parkings. Also, they charge high tuition fees of a $25 for a half hour and $50 for an hour, there is also registration fees... They also charge you with some situations of the studentss' absence.....Anyway, I found a private tutor of in home lessons that only costs me $18 dollars, I am very happy with it! Find a teacher at home or you can go to their house! they are a lot of better than the teachers at the Royal Academy! Pros: none Cons: old instruments, pianos are out of tune, crowded parking, education quality, frequent changing of teachers, expensive tuition! more

teaching good comunication sometimes lacking 9/27/2006

Teaching is good, my son has gone for several years and at least his teacher works with him in a way that capitalizes on his strengths. He has some special challenges and I am impressed with thier patience. they moved a little down the road so they solved the parking problem!! more

Very Professional and Courteous 8/7/2006

Working in the Medical field and having a demanding schedule for both myself and wife activities for our children have been difficult. I wanted to write about the Royal Academy as they worked very hard to arrange times for my two children to attend music lessons at the same time. They are very courteous and the hours are very flexible and convenient. The school is very elegant and everyone seems so polite and helpful. My kids love their lessons, especially the beautiful recitals, and most of all, they seem like people who truly care and work hard to ensure students and parents are happy and continually follow their progression. We receive student evaluations from our their teachers after every lesson. I am not one that usually has the time or patience to write anything online, however these people deserve it. I strongly recommend them to anyone. Pros: convenient location, professional staff, great programs Cons: Parking sometimes a challenge due to a neighboring karate school in Shrewsbury, not sure of worcester more

There were things I have learned here that I never received anywhere else. My teacher is from Japan and she was is very good. The hours are great as I work late and the facilities are breathtaking. most of all they are professionals. Pros: professional staff, convenient hours, parking more
