Garlic Knots! 8/26/2009

The garlic knots at rounders are better than any knot I have ever tried. They are hot, flaky and covered in fresh garlic. They go perfect with beer! My husband and I usually order pepperoni with fresh garlic, lots of cheese and those wonderful tiny little pepperonis - little bits of awesomeness! The pizza prices are really good - cheap almost. Rounders is really clean and the food is great - those are my most important restaurant requirements. I have lots of good things to say about Rounders! Pros: The Food more

Good Pizza 4/24/2009

Rounders is pretty good pizza. It won't knock your socks off, but it is good. They lay the cheese on pretty thick, which is always a good thing IMO. The prices are good for what you get. They have awesome old school tabletop games like Frogger and Donkey Kong that double as tables. They also have a dog friendly patio and even bring your Fido a personal bowl of ice water if you want. The service is alright (although I have never been during peak hours), and the place seems a bit stuff. The wait staff is never very chatty and do not make you feel warm and fuzzy. But it you are down for some good chewy and cheesy pizza, give Rounders a try. Pros: The Pizza is Tasty, Prices, Dog Friedly, Tabletop Games! Cons: Stuffy Feeling Despite the Awesome Tabletop Games, Parking more

Don't Sit On The Patio 11/19/2008

Ok, so I've only been to Rounders Pizza once, but the one time was just slightly better than a terrible experience. The appetizer was buried in garlic, the pizza was ok, but the lack of service was what the problem was. It was a very nice night about a month ago and we decided to eat out on the patio. It was a weeknight so there wasn't alot of customers there (I think there was 2 other tables that night), but the server seemed like she didn't want to acknowledge that we were there. A couple of occasions we had to get up from our table to try to get service. Overall: I would give the place another try, but I won't be sitting on the patio. Pros: Cool location and ambiance. Cons: Bad service on the patio. more

GREAT PIZZA 10/22/2008

I have lived in Austin only a few months and one of my first goals was to find a great pizza place. I had tried many others around the area but none seemed up to pare with my standards. I had my first experience at Rounders three week's ago and found the pizza and service very delightful. I have enjoyed pizza there twice since then and have yet to be disappointed. They have amazing garlic knots and plenty of beer to choose from. In all I would say this is a perfect little place to enjoy a good pie and a cold beer . Pros: quick service, great value more

Boring Food, Uncomfortable Atmosphere 8/20/2008

Rounders is a pseudo-pizzeria. No one seems to ever be eating there when I've gone. It's only crowded on weekends. The owner refuses to have a waitlist system, so you just have to stand in cramped corners while you wait to eat. It's not cool enough in the restaurant, so they close the drapes. But if you want to open the drapes while you eat lunch with your date and enjoy a view of 6th, forget it. They told us we couldn't open the drapes because it gets too hot but why don't they just turn down the AC? They probably don't want to pay for it. One of my buddies found A STAPLE in his slice of pizza but he let it go because the server gave him a discount. This place is not worth stopping by. Pros: Not too expensive Cons: No specials, Claustrophobic Atmosphere, Mediocre Food more

Good Pizza, Horrible Service 8/14/2008

Coming from NY my fiancee and I were pleasantly surprised to find a place that served genuine NY style pizza. Our first visit was wonderful. The waiter gave us free garlic knots and charged us for a 14"" pizza while actually serving us an 18"" pizza. Since then we have been back about 10 times and have never received the same wonderful service. We are ignored, the quality of the pizza goes from just ok to completely unrecognizable as NY style pizza. My biggest complaint is that if I ask for my leftovers to be boxed they stack each slice of pizza on top of each other and wrap the whole pile in aluminum foil making the pizza inedible. Anywhere else I go for pizza they put the leftovers in an actual pizza box. I have even specifically asked for the leftovers to be put in a box, but it is apparent the waiters don't care or don't hear the request. The worst part is we have not been able to find any other local pizza place in Austin that makes anything close to NY style pizza so we are basically forced to eat at Rounders or order from one of the big chains. The fact that the owners are supposedly from just outside of NYC in New Jersey makes Rounders even more of a disappointment. Pros: Pizza and other food (sometimes) Cons: Pizza and other food (sometimes), always the service more

Great PIzza, Great Date Place 8/16/2007

My boyfriend and I love this place! It has a great cozy atmosphere, not too loud. We always get seated quickly even on weekends. We've ordered several pizzas and they have some fun unique things including ricotta cheese, but you can get the old standbys as well like pepperoni, sausage. The crust is yummy and they make this great knot bread out of it as well. We usually split a salad (good, green delicious-not just iceberg lettuce), get the knots to go with it and then split a large pizza. (It makes for great leftovers too). Niether of us are drinkers, but it looks like they have a good selection of beer and wine. They even have a really nice patio when the weather's good you can sit out there and people watch on west 6th street. more

Great Pizza, Unique Setting, Austin Vibe 7/12/2007

If you're looking for great pizza with prompt seating, Rounders is the place to go. The pizza sauce is great, the cheeses are good, the toppings are fresh, the salads are pretty good, and the garlic knots (bread rolls) are perfect. Rounders has a decent beer and wine list, and the fountain drinks are served in the big, old fashioned iced tea plastic cups, so you don't have to worry about needing refills. Prices are substantially lower than other premium pizza joints. Pros: Pizza, Seating Time, Garlic Knots more

i don't understand how they advertise delivery service 4/28/2007

i eat out a lot, and after a busy day there's nothing like the conveinence of ordering a delicious pizza and salad. i really like rounders pizza, but EVERY SINGLE TIME i call for delivery, they can't do it. it's either they aren't delivering until later or they don't have a driver, and one time--get this--they ""didn't feel up to it."" i prefer rounders over mangia because they are less expensive, delicious, and have calzones. but rounders will not win back my business until they get their act together. Pros: good pizza Cons: worst service in austin, nonexistent delivery more

Good Pizza, Cool Place, Bad Service, NOT kid friendly 2/2/2007

Rounders has great pizza and a layed back cool atmosphere, it's an old Austin house and the dining area is the living room. The pizza crust is crisp and I like the flavor. Their salads are pretty good too. Although the pizza is good and we keep going back the service is awful. Once you get a drink forget about a refill unless it's beer because they make more money and they wait staff is not friendly. One more thing, this is not a kid friendly place. We take our kids at least every other friday night and are usually the only people with kids. They love the table video games and arcade games but the restaurant has signs everywhere that say watch your kids and no chairs at video games. What kind of place would have games and not allow kids to play them. Come on! Either let kids play the games or get rid of them! Pros: The Pizza and atmosphere Cons: Service and they don't like kids, Obviously! more

All around goodness 8/6/2006

All the staff I have encountered at Rounder's have been friendly and helpful. They don't talk much but they defiantly are not rude or mean. I have always found a place to park behind rounders and to the right. The tow signs specify that the parking is for Rounder's guests. The dinner salad is really good. The pizza is really good (especially if you get sun-dried tomatoes on it). One time they burned something... not the pizza... they got us a new one in plenty of time and gave us two free desserts. I think it is one of the best places to get pizza. Pros: pizza, salad, cheap more

Poor service;almost non-existent delivery 5/28/2006

The pizza is average; if you want to be in a bad mood for the rest of the evening because of some of the worst service in Austin--eat here. Last time I tried to get a pizza delivered they said they ""might"" be able to get me the pizza within 2 hours. AVOID THIS PLACE UNTIL THE MANAGEMENT CHANGES. It is comical that so many reviews on this page suggest: Great NY PIZZA!!!!; could these be employees or friends of the owner? Pros: good pizza Cons: horrible service all more

What a great surprise 11/14/2005

Mangia is still king, but if you'd like something a little different with some east coast influence, try out Rounders. I can't believe I've been in Austin so long without tasting it. The place definitely has a unique atmosphere for a pizza place - dark, quiet, cozy, putting the spotlight on the pizza (which is terrific). I'd put Rounders in a tie with Mangia for best in Austin. They complement each other very well. Pros: the pizza, dummy, cozy atmosphere Cons: parking more

Way over rated 9/18/2005

Service was actually pretty good, not like other reviews. But the pizza was the problem. It took a while to come to the table and when it did it was way over cooked. The crust had the texture of cardboard. The toppings were slight and starting to burn. Would not reccommend this pizza. Sorry, no return visit from me. Pros: Service Cons: Pizza more

Excellent pizza with love 7/11/2005

Every pizza I have had from Rounders has had the freshes ingreadients. You can tell they pay close attention to detial. The crust is always the perfetctly crisp. Garlic Knots are a must have. Excellent presentation on serving stile. Pizza trays are set on racks above the tables surface. Pros: Fresh, Crisp , Tasty Cons: Wait more

YUM!!! 6/12/2005

The best pizza in town...as good as you might find in Brooklyn. Great crust, sauce, and toppings. more

Just like NY! 1/21/2004

I was a die hard fan of Austin's Pizza, but after trying Rounders, I've changed allegience. This is the best pizza in town. If you like New York Style pizza, you must try it. The crust is perfect, the sauce not too sweet and they don't hold back on the toppings. If only there were a location in North Austin.... I'd be in heaven. more

great food awful service 10/31/2003

The pizza was great but the servers were downright horrible....got our order mixed up and then didn't do much to try to remedy the situation....we ended up eating another table's pizza (luckily we were ok with the toppings) because ours had already been served to the wrong table. more
