Rothman, Marvin, Dvm - Rothman Animal Hospital

I was warned by my neighbors about how dreadful Dr. Esser is and boy were they right. We had used a different vet, but because Rothman was so close to Haddonfield, we decided to give them a try. On more than one occassion, we were charged for things that we did not authorize. I was told that I needed to spak with Dr. Esser for a refund. He acknowledged that his office had made a mistake and then said he'd credit for for half of the charge. When I asked why only half he responded, ""You should have caught the mistake when you were here."" When I oushed harder, he said he'd give me my $100 back for a service that I did NOT request but yelled and me and said that my dogs were no longer wanted at Rothman and hung up on me. I had such a great experience with his front desk staff. They apologized over and over again for the mistake, but the owner, Dr. Esser found it beneath him to apologize. I should have listened to my neightbors. Haddonfield and surrounding areas BEWARE!!!! more

I had a same day appointment my dog who is about 13 years old was having trouble with the stairs Dr Javic was great gave me some arthritis meds to try for Jamie that unfortunately didnt work we added one but still not much improvement. I asked about Previcox a med that she was on in the past but they didnt carry. He gave me 2 packs of samples that last me two months. Saving me a good amt of $$. Unfortunately my visit was almost ruined my Dr. Mark Esser who owns the practice. My visit cost almost $500 and I was using care credit which makes it affordable for unexpected costly visits like so. Over $300 most vets will give you 18 months as a option. Rothman is auto set at 6 months. It's a big difference. They called the office manager who happens to be Dr Esser's wife who wouldnt change to the 18 months, but I wouldnt give up. I had purchase over $180 worth of stuff that I didnt have to purchase there and when I got on the phone with Dr. Esser who made a mistake and told me it was cost hime $50 instead of $25 if he lets me get the 18 months. In the end I got what I wanted but this left a bad taste in my mouth. I will be taking my cat prob to Dr Javic but hope I dont have to deal with the money hungry Dr Esser again hes rude!!!!! more

I scheduled a cat grooming for the morning, and was assured my cat would be ready well before the end of the day. I called an hour before the end of the day, asking about the cat's status, and was told they'd need to break up the grooming into 2 visits because the matting was so bad.\r \r When I arrived to pick up my cat, they hadn't touched him. They hadn't let him out the cage, hadn't bathed him, nor cut any hair. The groomer told me I'd receive a $15 discount off the grooming since I'd wasted my time.\r \r I rescheduled for the next week, and when I arrived, the front desk asked for his paperwork for the third time, which I'd already faxed twice. When I went to pick up my cat later that day, the groomer had nicked his ear. There was dried blo0d in his hair. She also didn't cut his hair in a lion's cut, but shaved off all his hair leaving patches of hair on his legs, and the entire tail uncut. She also cut his whiskers off one side of his face.\r \r I never received my $15 discount for the wasted time for the first ""appointment"". I complained about the cut, and the next day Susan called saying she was sorry for ""the way I thought I'd been treated."" \r \r I will not go back to Rothman even though they're cheaper than my other groomer. I was so impressed by this veterinary clinic. I called at 5:45 PM regarding my beagle's swollen paw and related symptoms. We are relatively new to the area so this was our first visit. We received a 7:30 PM appointment, I arrived early for paperwork, but, there was only one page required (delightful in itself) of me and we were taken back by 7:20! The reception area is clean and well appointed, no overwhelming animal smells, plenty of seating and a fair amount of parking too. The staff is incredibly friendly, everyone I met was personable and attentive to my dog and to me. The vet was amazing, kind, definitely someone that loves her job, she took the time to thoroughly examine Odie without being overly invasive. After diagnosing his infection with a slight allergic reaction to whatever caused the initial paw trouble she spent quite some time reviewing the meds he would require, then spent more time giving Odie some friendly attention before verifying my number so she can contact me this week to follow up! I've never been anywhere better than Rothman and I have had pets throughout my life. I will definitely be returning and referencing people I know to this facility. I took my sweet cat to be seen by Dr. Rothman, and he was very attentive and hands-on -- he actually could feel the problem with his hands before and tests or xrays were taken. When it became clear that my kitty was too sick to save, Dr. Rothman and Dr. Liez were as kind and compassionate as I could ever have hoped. This was our first visit to the vet with our young cat, and we will return with all of our kitties in the future. Pros: Very affordable, and absolutely caring and helpful. Sweet, sweet staff. more
