Best in LA! 4/6/2011

I love this place. The new veterinarian is Dr O'Dwyer and she takes the best care of my pets and seems very knowledgeable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The charges are around the same or a bit less than I have paid at other vets in the area. more

Terrible Business Practice 3/22/2011

Absolute rip off , tons of addition procedures not needed just for fees. Shame on them!!! more

Under New Ownership. A+ all the way! 2/10/2011

Dr. Katie O'Dwyer is the most amazing vet! She is knowledgeable and friendly. She has a genuine love of animals, and took outstanding care of my senior dog. From the professional front desk staff, to all the amazing technicians, this animal hospital gets 5 stars all the way. A+! more

La Crescenta's Best Vet 8/31/2010

Dr. Sallen and Dr. Mitchell are fabulous. \r \r We have been taking our cats and dogs to them for the last 12 years and we could not be happier with their honesty and the quality of the service that they have given our animals.\r \r They are caring, ethical and attentive. When I read some of the negative reviews I wonder who is encouraging these people to post these reviews. One example ""Deals with Puppy Mills"" I have deal with Dr Sallen and Dr. Mitchell for 12 years and I know they are highly opposed to puppy mills as they have to deal with the fall out from these mills on a regular basis. \r \r We would recommend them to anyone. more

Extremely Expensive 8/25/2010

While Dr. Mitchell is well qualified, I find their business practices to be horrible. It starts when you are brought into the exam room by a young man bent on getting you to sign up for""Our senior health program"" or whatever the latest money making program they have come up with. While I understand the want to create maximum profits, I take umbrage with the fact that this is being pushed on me while my dog is in need of care for a moderately serious injury. He will also resort to making you feel guilty for NOT subscribing to his sales pitch. Be very careful to ask for ALL costs when getting a estimate of costs for any procedure. They are notorious for quoting a price that only covers treatment to a specific point of action. Any further costs, can and will, result in additional substantial charges to the estimate. They won't tell you this at first so BE SURE TO ASK. I had been a customer for well over a decade and just could not tolerate these and other seemingly slimy tactics. Most of my issues seem to have taken place after they merged with Hillcrest Veterinary Clinic. I, as many others have become, am very happy with the services and prices from another local vet. If you decide to go to Rosemont Pet Hospital, bring a wheelbarrow full of cash. more

Dr. Mitchell is WONDERFUL with cats 12/22/2009

I've been bringing my cats here since about 1998. We've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Mitchell, and have found the front desk people and the techs very helpful! Linda can have a gruff exterior, but it is clear she really cares, and Ben may be the best tech on the planet. We do feel Dr. Mitchell is better with cats than Dr. Sallen, but she's a cat person herself and understands them well. She is kind and her diagnostic skills are well above average. We have worked with her through everything from routine care to IBD to chronic kidney failure to hyperthyroidism to rodent ulcers to... you name it. I don't know where these complaints about not walking the boarded animals come from, but I have seen the staff out walking dogs, so I'm pretty sure it's not true! Pros: Excellent care, nice people Cons: Not cheap more

Charged us for vaccines they never gave 10/6/2009

We brought our new dog here after only a few visits with this vet with our 2 older dogs who had recently passed. Our new dog was scheduled to get spayed and some vaccines. When we picked her up they said that during the spaying, they decided to pull one of her teeth (although it was an extra tooth and was purely cosmetic) without consulting us first. During her recovery at Rosemont from the spaying, the tooth got infected and so they never gave her the vaccines although they never told us this until after our dog got Bordatella (sp.?) and very ill and this was one of the things she was supposed to be vaccinated for so we put 2 and 2 together. We now go to La Canada Pet Clinic and we are much happier there. Cons: rude staff, overcharge more

NO!!! 4/29/2009

This place does not walk or let out dogs that are boarded or being hospitalized. The Dr in 'charge' charges a lot of money for his 'services' and does extra tests that are not needed. He goes through staff like water, and does not treat the majority of people or animals well!! Pros: Dr Mitchell - she is good, and she cares. Cons: Everything else more

Exceptional veterinary group with empathetic support 1/30/2009

I can't imagine anyone writing anything other than the utmost best about Rosemont Animal Hospital. Our beloved kitty was treated very well by Dr. Mitchell when we brought her in to the clinic for an examination. She was professional, kind and compassionate and directed us to an excellent specialist group to finalize the diagnosis. Unfortunately, our kitty was diagnosed with aggressive lymphoma and we, at that time, knew she only had a couple of weeks to live. When it became time to have our beloved kitty put to sleep so that she would not be suffering, we brought her to Rosemont and were assisted by Dr. Sallen. He was kind, gentle, compassionate and really seemed to understand what our family was going through. He treated our kitty very gently and with much respect during the euthanasia process. I highly recommend this center for all of your pets' needs during and after their life. Pros: Compassionate doctors and staff; clean facilities more

Don't be fooled by Rosemont Pet Hospital 1/27/2009

The staff here is very rude and they don't understand the concept of 'customer service'. The veterinarian lacked the necessary knowledge to diagnose my dog correctly and he ended up charging us a fortune anyway. This place costs too much, gives bad service, and everyone's nose is up in the air. I highly suggest you try one of the other veterinarians in the area. Cons: service, cost more

A great vet, with well qualified staff. This is the real thing. 11/4/2008

I read some of the other reviews here and wonder if they were written by competitors. I have been coming to Rosemont Pet Hospital since the early 1980?s. I have sent many people in my neighborhood to this place, and I have never had a problem or heard of a problem. I see both Dr. Sallen and Dr. Mitchell and they are both totally on top of what they are doing and they both care about their patients. I actually like these Dr?s better than I like my own private doctor. The front office is more together than any other I have dealt with. \r \r We travel with our 4 dogs a fair amount, so I do end up in other vet offices. From my experience, I believe this is a top-notch office, with Dr?s that are up on the latest medical info. The place is well equipped for tooth cleaning, normal surgeries, vaccinations etc. You can tell that the staff actually cares about you and your pet. The place is not run by a bunch of high school kids, but a team of people who pay attention to the details. \r \r It looks like some of the other reviews here are from the people who don't believe in vaccinations. I have been having my dogs vaccinated here for more than 20 years. They have never ?pushed? vaccinations on me, nor do I think they have even given me too many. I know we have had to return to have some vaccinations days later, to make sure there were no allergic reactions and if there were, we would then know which vaccination caused the reaction. There is always a chance for a reaction with any vaccination, but we have never had any. We also had our children vaccinated knowing that there can be the same risk of allergic reactions. \r \r This is a good vet with a together team and they know what they are doing. I have been coming here long enough to know. They have has ample time to screw up and so far with maybe 100 visits in 20 years, I have no issues. \r Pros: Together, clean and with minimum wait times. Cons: It's not free, no professional is. more

Don't board your pets here 10/21/2008

This clinic is not very clean, they do not walk pets that are boarded, they simply move them from cage to cage or run to run. It is really sad. The dry food is not covered and the doctor is cold and only cares about money. Pros: nice back area staff Cons: poor animal care more

Wonderful staff, great vets, kind and understanding animal lovers 7/30/2008

I was shocked when I read the reviews below. I have personally been going to Rosemont Animal Hospital for the care of my dogs and cats since 2000. They are amazing. They helped us make a difficult decision about a kitty that we had to put down. They patched up my dog when she tore out a claw. Fixed up another cat when she was attacked by a opossum. They are kind, compassionate and understanding. They all have animals themselves are understand the bod. I also kennel my dog there every year when we go on vacation. I wouldn't trust to leave her anywhere else. Linda is amazing and is one of my dog's favorite people. She goes nuts just when she hears Linda's voice! There has been occaision when I did not have all the money to pay for services upfront. They were nice enough to work with me and help us with a payment arrangement. I honestly cannot say enough about this pet hospital and the care the have provided to my animals. Pros: Friendly staff, great care, clean facility Cons: wish they were open later more

not ethical.... 7/26/2008

Gives too many vaccines and deals with unethical business people in the area. Another ""scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"" businesss. Pros: zilch Cons: will do ANYTHING for a buck more

deals with puppymills/////// 7/25/2008

AVOID THIS BUSINESS........\r As long as this establishment continues to keep puppymills and their brokers in business, they should not be patronized. They receive kick back $ from a local broker who sends her customers there with sick puppies.\r This establishment should not be trusted. Cons: works with a local puppy mill broker more

Ridiculous Reviews 7/12/2008

\r Although I have no firsthand experience with this vet clinic, I cannot believe some of the reviews I see here. Someone actually ignorant enough to say that this vet clinic gave ""a bunch of vaccinations"" - and then Shocker - the dog got sick and reacted and the clinic didn't charge them for treatment. Of course they didn't - its called liability. \r \r Any vet clinic who would give multiple vaccines at one time is not only negligent, but completely acting in conflict with the American Hospital Association that it claims it is a member of on its website. This is a total violation of the recommended vaccine protocol from most of science at this point and it is unconscionable today that vets continue to ignore the danger of vaccines and its chemical ingredients - the damage is permanent and you can't undo it.\r \r I work in rescue and checked these reviews since the rescue I just picked up yesterday had been treated at this clinic - this rescue dog is a medical mess and I was trying to find out who the out of touch vet is that has been failing to treat this dog and his orthopedic issues correctly - here they are. I understand why he was so over-vaccinated as well. It saddens me that there are those who are so uneducated about the dangers of vaccines that they give a vet who over vaccinates and makes their dog sick a 5 star review. Ridiculous! Pros: Appears to be affordable Cons: Not worth it - Does not follow AAAHA and AVMA vaccine protocols and puts pets at risk more

Kind, not patronizing, and not out to get your wallet! 5/23/2008

After a horrendous experience at a Tujunga vet clinic, my husband and I finally sought out a new animal hospital in La Crescenta. With so many to choose from, we went with a recommendation for Rosemont...and we're so glad we did. Our first visit was for a bunch of vaccinations that were due and a general check-up for our beagle. Dr. Mitchell was very sweet and natural with our dog, easy to talk to. By the next day, our beagle was having quite a reaction to all of the vaccines at once, so they had us come back in where they checked him over thoroughly and then gave him some IV fluids to make him feel a bit better and help with recovery (on the spot, not requiring a costly overnight visit like some local clinics). Then they sent us home, our fears calmed, and without any charge for the visit or fluids... even though the reaction wasn't their fault. \r \r The best part is that Dr. Mitchell is an understanding pet owner herself. She isn't patronizing and doesn't overreact. She understands when you're concerned, even if the situation only requires some fluids, a small tab of Benadryl and some rest. But she also doesn't recommend unnecessary costly treatments just because you're nervous. Despite some of the other reviews, in my experience (and my friends' experiences), they don't seem to make treatment or charge decisions based what they think you can afford...which, unfortunately, has been my experience at another local clinic.\r \r If you're unhappy with the care your pet is getting at another Crescenta Valley clinic, give Rosemont a try! Pros: excellent veterinarians, reasonable cost, cleanliness more

Don't care for animals!!! 4/8/2008

I took my puppy to Rosemont because they were highly recommended by the place that I bought my puppy. Well they were nice the first couple of times, because I was not paying the bill, the place the puppy came from was covering the cost because my puppy had kennel cough. After that we went in for some vaccines which they even charged me for an office visit because I wanted to see the doctor for my dogs itchy skin on a Thursday. They gave me shampoo and some oral medicine but after a few days my dog was throwing up, so I called and we took him back on Monday. When I got there the original doctor wasn't their which was fine. So the other doctor gave him an iv because he was dehydrated, a shot to stop the throwing up and three pills to take home, but that wasn't the bad part. They gave me a bill for another office visit and for all the extra medicines. Why should I have to pay for another office visit and the medicines when they should have made my dog feel better the first time which I understand sometime some medicines do not work. But why should I have to pay them again for an office visit and medicine to make my puppy better from the things they did to him which made him feel worse. So I spoke with the office manager who was very rude to me and she didn't even want to discuss it. She said this time we wont charge you but next time anything we do has a fee, that's when I told myself their wont be a next time. Also they do not have an on call doctor so if you call their office after 6:00 PM no one can help you the answering service takes down your information and you get a call back around 8:30AM the next morning when the office re-opens. I believe you should find a vet. who wants to help make your family member better. Pros: Parking Cons: Expensive and not polite more

Worst experience at a pet hospital 3/8/2008

I thought this place was ok when taking my pet for routine checks, but when he got seriously ill I realized how much more they love money than they do animals. The doctor I talked to was very cold and showed very little compassion for my dying pet, which I heard screaming from behind the door before he was given to me. Also, they make you pay first before giving your pet back. I definitely do not recommend this place. Cons: Attitude and cost. more
