Rodman's Discount Food and Drug

I've been a customer at Rodman's for years for all the reasons cited here. However, my recent experience leads me to seek all merchandise elsewhere. I bought some Liquid Plumr Foaming Pipe Snake at Rodman's. I have have purchased the identical merchandise regularly at Rodman's for years. After returning home, I placed the bag containing the Liquid Plumr (LP) on my dining room table. The LP largely poured out of the bottle through no discernible source, burning a hole in the tablecloth and burning through the surface of the table. I returned the acid filled bag to Rodman's. I spoke with the General Manager who told me that I must have caused the leak. He made fun of the fact that some kind of bug had attached itself to the liquid, citing it as further evidence of my neglect. He directed me to replace the items in the bag at no charge, retained the wet/acid affected receipt, and performed no inspection of the remaining stock of Liquid Plum'r. I returned home carrying the new parcel carefully in the front seat. Upon my arrival at home, the plastic bag filled with Liquid Plum'r leakage, and beginning to affect the wood floor underneath. I again returned to the store, carrying the acid filled bag within another bag. I brought the destroyed acid-eaten table cloth and asked for recompense. Because the dining room table already had suffered more minor scratches, I sought no compensation and I had avoided damage to the floor. Based on the massive leakage from both bottles, it was clear that the Rodman's stock of the item was injured before it left the store. Rodman's General Manager and owner told me that the problem was not the product but that based on the two returns of the product I was an "habitual returner," and refused to do anything to address the damage caused by the weakened product packaging. They alleged that the two leakages were my fault and had nothing to do with the store. more

Rodman's has a great and surprisingly large selection of both wine and beer. They often have a wine tasting set up on weekends, complete with a connoisseur to tell you what's what. They also have a chiller available on site. There's plenty of parking available in back, but it can get crowded on the weekends. more

If you are sick of seeing the same items over and over at the supermarket, Rodman*s is sure to surprise you. They have a fantastic wine department and the downstairs carries a wide range of home goods (watch repair and an excellent pharmacy too). The real attraction, for me, is the dry goods aisles that are stocked with treats from all over the world. They have Polish sweets, Arabic spices and British brands that anyone who has grown up overseas will be delighted to find. The tea selection is also very good, lots of types of rooibos (red tea) I've not seen elsewhere. You can put together a nice party spread here that won't put a huge dent in your budget. They also have a wonderful global candy selection - you can get a serious marzipan fix here. Rodman*s goes all out for the holidays; this is THE place to put together a Christmas stocking or an Easter basket for your favorite foodie. Also, because they have many elderly customers, you can find some retro items in the grocery and personal care departments that no one else has (think badger brush shaving kits and ingredients you've never seen outside of Grandma's kitchen). There's free parking in the back, which is good because you'll want to browse longer than the meter will let you. more

Rodmans has very good low priced wine. I always shop there for my wine. They also have a great selection of wines. They have sales very often and they have a complementary wine chiller. they also have good cheeses and other good products at unbelievable prices s is all their products. more

If you've never been to Rodmans you're in for a nice surprise. If you never thought you would find a nice local supermarket that isn't Whole Foods or Safeway, this is your lucky day. Rodmans is a hidden wonder. It carries a wide selection of international and organic foods. It has a huge and very low priced wine department and the downstairs is like a whole "Woolworths". There is plenty of validated parking in the rear. more
