i love Sweetgrass pediatrics 3/26/2012

I have been bringing my child to Sweetgrass since she was a month old and is 18 months now. Dr. Rogers is normally who she sees and she is wonderful! she is amazing with my daughter and takes her time during the exam. i have seen a couple other doctors as well and they ALL have been great. i have so many questions everytime i come in and no matter what doctor i see they always make me feel comfortable even though i know it might be a silly question. The doctors are all great and make my daughter feel special. The office is bright with lots of art on the walls and colors. It is very clean and i enjoy being welcomed by all the friendly front desk girls they have up front. i had a few insurance issues and contacted their billing dept. and they were beyond helpful. i would highly recommend going to Sweetgrass Pediatrics. more

Me and my kids love this office! The doctors are awsome! 1/14/2011

When I bring my kids in we feel like we are apart of the family. Everyone is so nice and friendly. Wouldn't go to any other doctor! we love this place! more

Misdiagnosed 12/23/2010

Took my 15 yr old daughter for classic sinus infection symptoms-no bloodwork or x-rays. I was told it was a virus. Questioned again no it was a virus. My daughter got sicker that night so I called the next day...asked again about an antibiotic (ecspecially since Christmas was in 2 days and her 16th birthday in 4) I questioned how can you be sure it is a virus?? The nurse went and asked the doctor and came back and said no it was a virus...we ended up at a med quick later that night and after several test she was diagnosed with an ear infection and a horrible sinus infection. She got a shot and went home with 10 days worth of medicine. thank God that is all it was ! I however, had to pay $650 since we had not met our deductible and pay Sweetgrass for their 15 minute appt. (over $100) I will be in on Tuesday getting my girls records and I will tell everyone I know not to go there !!! more

One good Doctor - The rest can go!!! 3/9/2010

My first visit was okay...just a check up when he was a month old. Routine...nothing special. The second visit...whole other story. The nurse was awful. She did nothing to let my son know she was going to shove his oral shot into his mouth and when he screamed in fright she didn't even bother to stop. Then when she gave him the shots in his leg she moved the needle in his leg and she didn't care. So I told them she would not be handling my sons visits anymore. The doctors didn't really seem to care about him. He was trying to talk to her and interact with her and she basically ignored him. When I showed up for his next well check I was 5 minutes late. I called ahead of time to let them know. They said that would be fine, they had a 25 minute window. I got there, signed in, waited 45 minutes for them to tell me I would have to reschedule because I was late. When I protested they insisted.....so I scheduled with Lowcountry Pediatrics...I have never looked back!!! Pros: Central Location Cons: Horrible Staff more

Great office and staff 2/2/2010

My children love going to Sweetgrass Pediatrics. The Doctors are very knowledgeable and really seem to care. They will take the time to address your concerns and make everyone feel at ease. We go to the Summerville office and I really love it. The front office staff is so polite and if I have any questions about my child I always get a call back quickly to address my concerns. We just recently moved to this area and feel very blessed to have found such a great place and wonderful people to care for my children. Pros: Drs and staff who care more

Wonderful, wonderful place 12/14/2009

Moving around a lot, we've seen a lot of pedis, and this is, by far, the best practice we have been to. I have been treated with respect by everyone there, both doctors and staff. My questions are always answered, I never feel rushed and they have been accommodating to my alternate vaccine schedule. The beautiful thing about this practice is with so many docs, you are bound to find at least one you click with. The only down side to Sweetgrass is there is always a horrid wait (thus the four stars and not five), but it's a price I am willing to pay because of the care my children receive. They have always made a point to see my sick child same day, and the nurses always return calls promptly to answer any questions that pop up. I absolutely love this place, just be prepared for a wait (a visit will take an hour and a half, I would say, on average). Pros: Docs, staff Cons: wait time more

I recommend this practice to everyone! 10/15/2009

I found this practice after moving from Atlanta and being unhappy with the first practice I found in this area. What a sweet relief to meet Dr. Coleen Boylston! She greeted me like a friend and has treated me that way for the last 4 years. She loves my kids, cooperates with an alternative vaccination schedule, and is always in a great mood! She is informative and fun. Between hospital births and sick visits for 4 children under age 6, I have also had a chance to meet 5 or 6 other doctors in this practice, and have been extremely satisfied with each one. From jaundice, slow weight gain and multiple ear infections in my infants to weird staff infections, a broken leg and a throat laceration in my preschoolers, these doctors have attended each child with the utmost care and professionalism. I feel confident entrusting my children's health to these doctors and we all look forward to going to Sweetgrass! Pros: Best pediatricians I've seen Cons: Sometimes a long wait more

Almost cost me my son.. 11/4/2008

When my middle child was born, he had some severe problems throwing up. After having a child with this issue before, I was somewhat versed in how to handle it. I noticed very quickly that my middle's sons condition was much different. After 20 plus visits, and numerous phone calls I still was treated as a ""new mom"" that surely didn't know what I was talking about. My 9 pound 11 ounce baby only weighed 11 pounds at 4 months. I ending up taking him to the ER, which also blew me off, so I called the Dr.'s again and told them that if they didn't have me an appointment with a specialist that day, I was going to come to their office for a ""come to Jesus"" meeting. Needless to say, I got an appointment down at the children's hospital that afternoon, still the Dr.'s thought me a high maintenence Mom. But, after getting down to MUSC, my son was rushed into Emergency Surgery for a blockage of his intestinal tract. The Dr.'s there couldn't believe that the other Dr.'s didn't catch it. He told me that normally this condition is caught by the time the baby is two weeks old, he was 4 months old at the time of surgery. My son is now doing well, however, his Dr. NEVER called or came by to see him at the hospital, never one effort to check on how he was doing, to apologize, or simply check on their patient. This taught me two lessons, One, never doubt my instincts about my children, and Two, find a Pediatrician who actually knew how to practice medicine. I am sure that they may be fine doing checkups, although I never waited less than an hour and a half...but they are not good Dr.'s when it comes to caring for children. Their methods of ""practicing"" medicine almost cost me my son's life. Find another Doctor.. Pros: located in an easily accessible area of town Cons: Doctor's are not knowledgable, long wait, unconcerned with patients more

Great Doctors and Staff 9/29/2008

I have an 8 Yr old son that goes to Sweetgrass Pediatrics and I would just like to say that the doctors and staff at Sweetgrass are great. He loves all of the doctors and the staff at that office and I am not sure if you are familiar with the behavior of an autistic child but they typically do not like any doctors or anyone who is trying to perform test, etc. I have been through several doctors that do not want to take the time to let him get used to them to help prevent his visit from being a traumatic one and I finally found Sweetgrass and its staff. They are very patient, experienced and caring staff. It may take some time for you to see a doctor but to me I feel that I would rather the doctor take the time to answer all questions and thorougly check my son out. Not try to rush me out of the door so they can see there next patient because they are trying to meet a quota for the day. I think that my son being happy and comfortable when he has to go to the doctor is the most important thing, not how long it takes to be seen, which by the way is not that long. If the people think the short wait there is too long maybe they needs to go the the ER and see how fast they get seen. When I take my child to a doctor I like to feel as if we are people and not just a number so I am willing to wait to see the BEST DOCTORS IN TOWN!!!!! Oh yeah and by the way my son has disability medicaid and he has seen many doctors in the area and I have been charged a fee for his medical records at each office so maybe you should check around to other offices. Pros: Awesome staff and doctors more

Inadequate Front Office 4/17/2008

PLEASE be alert if you take your child here! The staff is friendly but you wait forever for anything! They still don't have my son's shot records straight. They were given records from my son's previous shot record several times. My son ended up having 2 shots twice! I was told I didn't have to pay a co-pay for a follow up visist and I did. I got a notice saying I was owed a refund but since you can't talk to a live person when you call I never received the refund. I left several messages for someone to return my call. I left the office not because of the doctors but the inadequate and indifferent responses from the front office. Go to Charleston Pediatrics downtown the wait is hardly ever long and the staff is outstanding. It is worth the drive. Pros: Friendly Docs Cons: Inadequate office staff more

Wonderful Doctors!!!!! 4/14/2008

My children have been going to these Dr.'s for 5 years now and these dr.'s care about your children. sometimes there is a little wait, But if your child is sick they will see you that day. I like all the dr's there. They are all awesome. And they all have a good bed side manner. more

Very long waiting 3/10/2008

They take forever to see your child. The nurse calls you back to do their part and then it takes forever until the doctor comes in. Last time I was their the receptionist lost my sign in sheet and I was in the waiting room for almost 1hr. They schedule way to many appointments at one time..and don't have enough doctors. They doctors are friendly..but they seem like they could really care less. Pros: The nurses and doctors are friendly Cons: they take forever more
