Warning!!! Not really "Going Green in 2016" like you think. 9/15/2016

RHC has a 60++ y/o spin instructor who needs, now get this, 2 spotlights directed on him, 4 wall sconces at his back; 14 recessed lights the length of the studio, 4-six foot long windows at his front bringing in ambient parking lot light; 4-six foot windows to his back beaming in very large upturned halogen lights from the pool (not to mention light from right/left from cardio and weight areas) and he stills need to turn on 4-large industrial fluorescent lights (w/4 long tubes in each) that give off tremendous heat! No where to move to avoid heat from those lights. BTW, guess those industrial lights were installed when club built back in the 70's. Now how much light does an instructor need to teach a spin class? What's there to see? Don't believe their lies that "its' your class." We pay to go there but instructor doesn't make experience comfortable. And RHC is supposedly "Going Green in 2016!" "riversidehealthclub We have always sought out opportunities to look out for our planet [...]." Hey RHC...do the planet a favor, cut down on the spin studio lights or get an instructor who can see. My understanding is that is why recessed lights and sconces were installed in the first place, to avoid using inefficient, bright fluorescent, and to give good ambiance of spin class noted in Mossa Group Ride video. RHC also allows instructors to teach classes using another's copyrighted music but not having permission to use that copyrighted music, e.g. using Insanity music for classes that are not Insanity classes. Lady complained about that on RHC's F/B page earlier. RHC doesn't care if they infringe another's copyrighted protected work. No moral compass, they don't care, just get them to join to make money, Insanity workout was created by an American, an ex-Marine who worked hard developing his brand. Guess they don't care stealing from that Insanity creator, guess its their way of making more "Green in 2016." Encourage the YMCA in building their new facility!! Don't go to that RHC dive. more

Gotta open to be in business 5/18/2016

Today at 4:04am So it's 4am and no one is here . 9 people waiting and no one here to open." Riverside Health Club is the absolute worst. This is how they conduct their business! They take your money even when they aren't open on time for business. Used to say they open at 5am but at times didn't open until later because their club opener "overslept" or there was a "miscommunication" about who was to open...now guess what ...they say they're open at 4am but no one to open at 4am today. Should have mastered opening at 5am before trying to open at 4am. Owners and "leadership staff" crept in around 7am. Suggestion: try putting an "in case of emergency contact number" on entry doors so some young folks with smartphones can call to let you know "no one here to open." Not trying to drag Riverside Health Club into the 21st century against its will with this positive suggestion. Agree with other reviews, bad club; poor management; dirty pool with construction going on as there are no showers for women to shower before entering the pool. Won't be any showers until reportedly sometime in June 2016. Paying Riverside money for something you can't use. Riverside sure isn't giving refunds! Avoid this place like the plague. more

A gym rat problem 3/31/2016

Joel C. re: buff gym rats (men) found at a gym...so what do you expect people to come to a gym for...to give owners money while staying fat as a country hog by not having a fitness goal? Yes, some do. But never met a woman who did not desire a small sexy waist from her work outs or a guy wanting to be just plain buff. Riverside staff has a problem-staff getting older and fat but then say fitness not about small waist or big muscle. Hello, you're supposedly running a health club. Sounds like "age" and "size" envy to me. Anyway, the club did have a real rat problem in their daycare last summer. They blamed it on the "mowed field next door." Yeah right, all the rats just ran across the road in the daytime straight to Riverside daycare bypassing other buildings, cars, etc. And a rat was found in that swimming cess "pool" of theirs a while back. Maybe a rat is responsible for the chewing gum spotted in that pool (and recently complained about on Riverside f/b page) ...expect this logic to be put forth by the owners as cause of gum in pool. So put the gym rat problem in perspective. I would rather watch buff, small waist people in a club prancing about displaying the fruits of their labor perhaps inspiring others along their way, rather than paying high club dues to watch real fat rats roaming around in that club, daycare or pool, or find gum in their pool. I just tell people don't go to that Riverside club... more

A "country club" indeed. 2/15/2016

Joel C. is right..club is designed for older folks. That's what management caters to and attracts. It's a family thing I guess. Big pot hole in parking lot; broken machines, bikes, toilets, step & risers worn out, leaky roof, moldy smell, no sub for classes that you pay for but must pay $2.00 to go to SedroWoolley to attend a class there. Old folks falling down...staff old too! Wonder what the median age of Riversides' fitness staff is??? Old staff can't keep up with a fit clientele. Close the place or evolve...or hire consultant to tell you what to do. Then you may attract more young people to sustain you for your future...that is if another mega gym doesn't come here to put you out of business first. Can only hope, and keep contacting other gyms via email to open up a full service exercise club here...minus the pool. That nasty Riverside pool! Then Riverside can keep all the older folks and become their legitimate country club. more

Unfair??? 4/6/2011

How can Riverside Health Club suddenly decide to charge twice the ongoing rate for a class previously included in the membership cost? This applies to the TRX class offered twice a week. I work out regularly at RHC and have always been happy with their policies. This change is very disappointing! The class is attended by seniors who cannot afford to pay double what they've been paying all along. more

Very Nice Club 6/12/2010

Good: Super friendly and attentive staff. Women's weight room. Excellent pool facility with seperate pools for classes vs lap swimming. Nice seating area in the lounge.. Bad: The women's locker room felt a bit cramped, especially during peak hours (i.e 7-9am and 4-6pm).. Improvements: Hopefully they will eventually remodel the locker rooms.. Other: Dues are very reasonable in light of the extensive facility. Pools are not easy to find in the north end.. more

Good place to work out 8/20/2005

The Riverside Health Club has plenty of the latest exercise machines, a studio for group classes, a women's gym, a pool for deep and shallow water aerobics, a 25 yard lap pool with 3 lanes, a hot tub, sauna, steam room and climbing wall. They offer group classes in floor and step aerobics, spinning, yoga, pilates, water aerobics, "masters" swimming, and more. They also have a staff of trainers for individual work with members. Rates are about $50/month, but it's a bargain, as long as you can get yourself in there regularly. more
