John (Kenny) Rutledge and Peyton Johann are a couple of conmen. I was excited at first about the project and for a new deck and the exterior of the home to be painted. The day I signed the contract I had to pay them over $5500 up front. It didn’t take long after that to realize that they were dragging their feet and making excuses and had no clue what they were doing. Plans were wrong, material never ordered, permits never put through. 2 whole months later, when a sub-contractor showed up at my door to take a look at the job to do, when they PROMISED that the crew was their own and they do not sub out their work, that was the last straw. I wanted to cancel the contract and have all my money back, but they wouldn’t do that. Instead they said that they would just do half of the project with the money I already paid and cancel the larger piece of the project. $5500 to paint the exterior of an 1800 SQ Ft home was extremely high, but they said they couldn’t refund anything, and so I was stuck. Another month went by with numerous no shows. They promise someone would be out and no one shows. This was a true nightmare. Finally Kenny shows up himself to do the work and it was evident he had no clue how to paint a home. Despite his claim that he started in the business painting homes and he guaranteed I would be happy. The prep work was shotty. He would literally fill some pin holes and then miss the next 3 in the row. Some holes looked far worse after he attempted to fill them. He didn’t remove fixtures and tried to paint around objects. He didn’t use a dark primer on the doors and shutters (going from white to dark blue). And he used the cheapest paint available (I paid for highend quality) and tried to say that one coat was sufficient when you could see right through it and the streaks he left behind and then wanted to charge even more for a second coat! He was only showing up a couple hours a day, and it was taking over two weeks from the time he started. He truly defaced my home. Eventually I had to fire him because he was causing damage to the aluminum siding by slamming the ladder against it. Again, I demanded money back. With months of ignored calls, full voicemail boxes, I finally receive a refund check for only 10% of my initial payment. He caused more than that in damages! I had to hire a new painter to fix what he messed up and paint the entire home from scratch. I tried 6 times to cash the refund check. But the tellers were not allowed to tell me why I couldn’t cash it. They just said try again later. Finally a teller told me, Sorry, you will never be able to cash this. You need to ask them to pay you with a different form. I suggest cash. I took this to mean that they wrote me a bad check to shut me up and never intended to honor their word. These guys are crooks and scum con artists. Unfortunately as I read other reviews, it seems that they were scamming a bunch of other folks at the same time too. more

This is a company to avoid at all costs. I was foolish enough to give them a 50% deposit, and was promised the work would start within 7-8 days. After many phone calls, 60 days later they finally came out. The work was shabby and not done according to our contract. One member of the work crew actually told me this was the best they could do. After having my deposit for 60 days, they demanded final payment immediately after the work was completed. When I pointed out the defects, they asked me to pay additional monies and THEN they would come back out and fix the defects. I refused, and I have not seen or heard from them since. Their contract fraudulently represents that they are a member of the BBB. The two principals (Ken Rutledge and Peyton Johann) rarely return calls, their VMX is always full. more

I would like to know what is going on with my job. No contact with me and all the days I was told in voice messages left on my work phone were lies. Why can,t you call me on a phone that I use. I will tell everyone I know what a scam company you are. more

They were not truthful in their sales approach. Said that they were factory certified and trained: manufacture never heard of them. showed me factory instulation guide, then did not follow it. Not a square foot was according to the manufacture. Tried to call themas they said but, they would not respond to service calls, emails or FAX. Sub Contractor had an attitude and none of his workers spoke english so when a problem was noticed all they said was call the site manager and continued to work. site manager took three day to get back and then refused to correct the problem and tried to have me pay more to correct it. Richline Windows & Siding did such an excellent job of installing replacement windows for us a few years ago that we decided to purchase a new roof from them. They gave us a really good price and a high-quality product, and they also have a great crew that were out here within a few days to begin work. It took them about a day and a half, and we were completely pleased with our new roof and their performance. The roof looks great and we found Richline to be most accommodating and a great company to deal with. One thing that really impressed us with this company was their integrity. Not only do they offer quality products and prompt installation, but they were on the jobsite overseeing the work and staying in touch with us to make sure we were pleased. more

Don't use this company if you want any kind of warranty. We had Richline install Polar Wall siding on our house 10 months ago. Price was reasonable with competition, and we thought that they'd stand behind their work. We were dead wrong. Several pieces of the siding has warped and was installed wrong. One light fixture was installed without the backing piece and they didn't attach it to the house, just attached the light to the siding. So of course now, its pulling away from the house. We've called and called and after a few phones call back, promising they'd fix the issues, they've now vanished from site. We've lodged a complaint with the BBB, hoping to at least have this repaired. Next step is with the manufacturer, since they're suppose to be an installer with this siding. Don't make the mistake we did. Stay clear of these guys. They're pushy, and they don't stand behind the work.....Don't make the mistake we did....... more

Cheap product, pushy salesman, expensive price. Richline came to our house to discuss vinyl siding options with us. After showing up the cheapest quality product on the market (we had met with other companies previously so we knew the comparables) they gave us the highest price of any company. Avoid business with these guys and get someone else, we did! more
