This restaurant, to be clear, is not the same Primavera as at the Wilshire Grand. It is a stand alone place which has yet to be discovered, but it ... more

Itallian Food Gone Wrong 6/27/2010

I was truly surprised at the meal that I had at Reggiano; My husband ordered ""linguine and vongole with white sauce"". When the dish came it was soupy with little necks. Vongole are small and its ""meat"" is sweet. The American substitute is usually manila clams. The clams used, little necks, were chewy and rubbery. They certainly were not of the highest quality and the entire meal was not Reggiano's best. . Ordinarily we would have left the restaurant and not complained, but my husband remarked about the dish, the server said :well you ate half of it"". My husband said that was not the answer that should have been given. When we have a poor meal we do not eat it but we were hungry and looking forward to this dinner. We kept trying to find merit with each bite that we took. My husband asked that the chef be told about our complaints. Obviously the chef cannot take criticism. He was trying to pawn off low quality seafood by insulting a customer. He refused to come out to speak with us. By the way my meal, lamb was not medium rare it was medium and tasted as if it was warmed in a microwave. It had no flavor. My dish was expensive and I expected more care in its preparation. The risotto was clumpy and had no flavor. This meal was such a disappointment. again I did not complain because I was hungry. This should be a wake up call. for Reggiano. I hope that when you advertise a dish use the correct food terms such as little neck clams not vongole (by the way vongole is a variety of mussel not a clam). Pros: appetizer of soppresata, olive & parmigiano bread crisp Cons: service and food preparation more

Bad Attitude 1/13/2008

For a long time I heard good things about the place, so finally about 3 weeks ago I tried it with a friend of mine. I use to go there when it was Primavera and never was impressed with the decor. When Primavera moved and the restaurant became Wish, An American Bistro, I still wasn't impressed with the decor. When I walked into Reggiano, I liked what they did with the place, the room was dark and had atmosphere. They could probably do without the Plasma but it was fine. They have a liquor license which for me is always a plus, but the bar area is tiny. First I started out with the Tuna Tartare, which was a mamouth portion, but needed some kind of cracker or chip. I am a big fan of any type of chicken on the bone and read about the Pollo Savoy was excellent, it was good not great. The wait staff was attentive. I had a nice first experience. I went back the next week with my wife and some friends and enjoyed it. Went for the 3rd time in 3 weeks, last night, a disaster. We had a 7:15 reservation and stood at the door for 10 minutes until my wife grabbed a waiter to get help. Meanwhile there were 3 tables waiting behind us to get in. The Manager, who was tending bar, came over and said he would look into it but we could wait at the bar in the meantime. There was no room at the bar and he never came back. Now after 7:30, the bar emptied and we went over and asked the Manager who was making drinks how much longer. He asked us if we wanted a drink, we said it depends on how long the wait is, he said at least another 20 minutes. My wife said 20 more minutes for a 7:15 reservation. He said ""Yeh"" with a real obnoxious atittude and no remorse. At that point I had enough and we left and went to Primavera who was more than happy to seat and serve us. The place is OK but not a lot different than many of the other restaurants in town. Given the attitude of the Manager and the shoddy treatment, I will never go back and would not recommend to any of my friends. Pros: Portions, liquor license, attentive wait staff Cons: Attitude, wait times, honoring reservations more

Deceiving prices 10/27/2007

My wife and I eat dinner out several times a month, so when we go to dinner we like to have a good meal. Budget is usually of not much of a concern. However, when did a bottle of Pellegrino cost $8.50 in N.J.?!?! It still cost $6-$6.50 in NYC. I am under the impression since the restaurant review books usually rate the cost of a restaurant by their entree prices that Reggiano's is trying to beat the system by having reasonably price entrees, but everything else is expensive. A shrimp appetizer which wasn't on the menu was $16.00, and a pound cake dessert was $9.00 It was basically cold pound cake with some store brought whipped cream and a few slices of strawberry. The menus states it was with mascarpone cheese, but I didn't see any nor taste any. Also, when we called and asked if we could bring our own wine, the young girl who answered the phone said yes. She also told us there was no corkage fee when we asked, but of course, there was a $15 charge on our bill. All-in-all, it is a nice looking and clean restaurant, which has live music on Saturday nights. The food is good, but I am not crazy about being nickel-and-dimed, especially on the water which costs them no more than $1.29 each. They don't offer a way to contact them via their website, so I will most likely not even bother to tell them my thoughts. There is a great restaurant Fortissimo's right next door (to the left), try it, you'll like it! Pros: Clean, great service Cons: Parking, water and dessert prices more

Best Little Italtian Restaurant in New Jersey 4/4/2007

I have eaten at many Italtian Restaurants in NJ and this is one of the best - Great food (and plently of it) Great Service - Great Atmosphere - Great Entertainers - Great Wine Selection. Friendly Staff, Small neighborhood feel. Must try and you too will become a regular diner. Come for the food and stay for the lounge bar area and the music by Jackie and Arthur - my friends and I danced into the night. Pros: Music while you Dine Cons: Parking more

GREAT FOOD, ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINMENT 4/2/2007

We had a wonderfull dining experience at Reggiano's on Friday night! It was crowded, but we had a reservation, so we got seated right away. Not your typical New Jersey Italian fare. The food is best described as Italian Favorites with a gourmet upacale flair.....presented with a WOW factor!! There was a big lounge crowd that filed in at about 11 o'clock...just as we were finisheing... We had desert and coffee and watched as the small band played to a group of people who had been in the lounge...They all looked to be having a great time.....Service was fantastick, food was great, and we had a lot of fun... I would highly recomend Reggiano's! Pros: GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE Cons: I wish there was a place like this in Livingston where I live more

really enjoyed this italian cuisine 4/2/2007

CLASSY, FUN, AND GREAT FOOD 4/2/2007

Was told about this new spot by my friend who lives is West Orange....I was definately scheptical of another Italian place. Was expecting more of the same!!.......I just moved from NYC to Livingston this summer... I love Jersey, but finding a place to eat, that's unique can be challenging....Reggiano's definately exeeded my expectaions!! I was greeted like an old friend at the door. Reggiano's is an average size restaraunt with a beutifull bar/lounge area! About 30 or so candle lit tables, a few of which were large ""family style"" tables.....VERY CLASSY!! The menu had a nice mix of interesting appetizers and salads, along with an extensive mix of Old-School Italian Favorites, with the addition of very creative takes on Pasta's, Chop's, and Seafood dishes. They also had a LARGE list of Chef Special's from which I ordered both the Rock Shrimp Arrabiata appetizer and the Australian Lamb...Both were supurb and served with lots of ""style""!! Huge Portions and a very nice presentation. I was offered a desert menu but declined....was just to full!! We noticed that the lounge was getting full, and live music was playing, so we had a seet at the bar afterwords....Such a nice Bartender! We stayed and had cocktails and danced a little until about 1AM......All in all, we had a great experience, and I will go back very soon!! Pros: Great food, service and a very fun Lounge Cons: I had no complaints at all more
