Very overpriced 10/6/2011

I purchased a blade and a belt at Randys. I spent ovr $100 to get these items. I then later looked them up on line to compare pricing. I found these exact name brand items on the internet and price them both at $43. With shipping them overnight to my house it was $62. WOW what a differance. Next time I will purchase elsewhere, Can not belive his mark up on parts. This is why people shop at different places and are not loyal anymore!!!! more

You pay for quality 11/4/2010

Good: He shoot sit to you straight. No fluff just the facts and full of knowledge. Bad: Hmmm, after many years of people complaining that his prices are higher than Walmarts crap he is a little gruff but I like people like grumpy people. If you listen and have an inteligent conversation he'll respect you and take great care of you.. Improvements: Hmmm he has lots of stuff in his shop so lots of products, knows about everything, prices are fair for what he does....I guess I just wish people would learn value and not cheap.. Other: If you pay $100 for a Lawn Mower at Walmart that works for one season and you pay $350 for one that works 20 seasons, what is smarter. If you figured this riddle out you have earned the right to go to his shop and open your mouth.. more

3rd time is a charm 7/16/2010

Good: Randy seems to be a nice guy and has a lot of knowledge.. Bad: I took my tractor in 3 times for repairs. It took at least a week to get it back each time. I spent over $300.00 and the tractor is still not working properly. When hot, it will not restart.. Other: I finally took it somewhere else for repair. I think Randy would rather sell new mowers than fix old ones.. more

Personal Service 3/21/2008

I've read the other reviews and yes, the price is a little higher but you get what you pay for. [Or perhaps, the proper wording is that you do NOT get what you don't pay for at a discount store. Such as service, information, and follow-up assistance.] I bought my first mower at Randy's when I moved back to Greenfield in 1990 and that one was still working when my son sold his house and moved to an apartment 4 years ago. [I'd since upgraded to one that was a little better for cutting grass on a hill and that one is still mowing well with no more than routine maintenance.] Randy is extremely knowledgeable about what type of mower is best for the type of cutting you'll be doing and his advice on the proper mower has paid off as we've only purchased two mowers and two tractors since 1990. When our first tractor failed and parts were unavailable, he managed to manufacture a fix that kept it going another two years until we were ready to upgrade to a tractor with more horsepower. I've purchased mowers from discount stores and I've had more than a few cheap tractors. I don't think any of those mowers lasted longer than 4 years and the tractors were junk. As long as Randy is in business, I will NOT be buying mowers and tractors from discount stores again. I figure I'm saving money in the long run. more

A little knowledge goes a long way. 1/29/2007

This is a comment from Randy...The owner of Randy's Lawn Mower Repair. I appreciate the good comments about our repair business and we are more than willing to help everyone who needs help. As far as being overpriced, I have to give a little rebuttal. Our prices on equipment are more expensive than some people would like them to be, but in fairness to us, customers must realize several things. 1. We DO NOT sell discount store varieties of equipment. We only sell the premium units. Even the Major brands have less expensive models that they sell mainly to discount stores. 2. ALL of our equipment is sold COMPLETELY assembled, started and adjusted, ready to use and we spend a great deal of time instructing the customer on the proper service and maintenance of the product. 3. WE spend a great deal of time with each customer helping that customer to understand EXACTLY what he or she really needs. This will in the long run save them money by preventing them from purchasing the wrong equipment and either having to purchase another one in the near future, or having to use something that will not do the job as efficiently as they had hoped, or purchasing equipment that would need more frequent and more expensive repairs in the future. We have been in business for over 33 years and would welcome the chance just to talk to you. .And YES, I am very blunt and to the point when talking to customers. I don't believe in beating around the bush. Customers whom really know me understand that I always have their best interest at heart...IF something is good...it's good! If it is BAD...it's bad. Isn't that really what customers want? Honest answers?.... Randall Wells...Owner....Randy's Lawn Mower Repair....Greenfield, Indiana more

Better for repairs than a new machine. 7/26/2006

Considering it's about your only option for lawn mower services, I suppose this place does just fine. I admit, the owner is a bit different, but he's friendly enough and really does know his mowers. He's also very frank... Once, we brought our lawn mower in for repairs, and he said that although he would happily repair it, he wouldn't want to waste our money and with as much as our mower needed, it might be wiser to buy a new one (he did not pressure us to buy from him at all). They are overpriced, so I'd never BUY a machine from him. However, he does good repair work and has almost every spare part you could need. more

Overpriced 10/20/2005

I think that Randys Lawn Mower Repair is a little overpriced. I also could not find the part I was looking for and it was not a specialty part at all. I also really did not care for the owner of the business, I felt that he thought he was superior. I rated this business as OK because they did carry a fair amount of merchandise. more
