Rancho Manana Resort 1/18/2012

My husband and I stayed here Dec. 30 - Jan. 1, 2012 and loved it. Beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath with fireplace, kitchen, patio, view, very spacious villa. Our son is the executive chef at Tonto Bar & Grill, so we come up from Tucson a lot to eat at Tonto and see him. Restaurant has fabulous food! We usually stayed at Carefree Golf Resort, but like these villas better. We got a very good price at Hotelscom. Normal price is a bit much for us, but discounted price was a great deal! more

New Management - New Phone Number for Casitas 9/28/2011

The Casitas have recently reopened after the previous management company shut everything down three years ago. The casitas will now be managed by Diamond Resorts which has resorts all over the world. Please note that the previous reviews should not be applied to the current management or the entire property as they casitas have a separate ownership than the golf course and Tonto. The golf course and Tonto Bar & Grill have always maintained very high standards and nearly all reviews from the various travel/golf/restaurant rating systems reflect that. It is a great place to golf, eat, and stay! You can reach the current casita management at 480-575-7900. more

Not in business - DO NOT CALL PLEASE 3/7/2011

The number listed is a fencing contractor. Please do not call. As far as we know the resort is closed. The golf course is separate but we do not know the phone number. more

Gorgeous Property Management a Nightmare 11/24/2009

Cassitas are darling, restaurant is fairly good and restaurant staff is very friendly. However, the management of the resort and spa leave much to be desired. I stayed here with my grandparents and we were all terribly disappointed. I would not recommend this property to my worst enemy. Pros: Love the gorgeous Sonoran Setting Cons: Management a Nightmare more

Terrible experience 8/17/2009

Do Not Stay at this place. I had the most terribel experience here that I could imagine. Unless ownership and management have changed, it is filled with dishonest people. Watch out, they will double charge your credit card and hope you miss it on your bill. Pros: grounds are pretty, spa staff is very nice Cons: worst management I have ever encountered in hospitality sect more

Sneaky people in charge 10/15/2008

I am amazed and pleased that several employees are forthright enough to reveal the truth about the management of this place. First of all, the property really is beautiful. But if you seek that type of beauty, you have a ton of choices around Phoenix and Scottsdale and even up to Sedona. You should avoid Rancho Manana. We stayed at Rancho Manana for the wedding of a relative. We had direct dealings with the folks who seemed to be in charge and they are duplicitous and rude. We were overcharged on our credit card and when we tried to multiple times to call the resort to report the problem, we were ignored and our calls went unreturned. Judging from the reviews I see here, this is normal practice for the Management there. Eventually we notified our credit card company who then started an investigation and subsequently removed the erroneous charge from our credit card due to receiving no response at all from Rancho Manana. No matter how beautiful the property is, it does not matter if the management steals from the credit cards of the guests. Stay away from Rancho Manana. if you need back-up info, check this out a site streettalkblog and look up Rancho Manana. I guess the troubles there are even bigger...they should be shut down... Pros: Beautiful Property Cons: Duplicitous, con artist management more

The staff and Property are AMAZING, Melani, Brian and Rita are con artists 9/7/2008

As an ex employee I want to first start by saying my experience there was an absolute pleasure when it comes to the staff and our beautiful property. The management were wretched and manipluating. There were major issues with everything from late/incorrect paychecks to moneies being spent on non priority issues causing the property to go into distress and disrepair. PRC members were treated with no respect, having random charges being placed ""accidentally"" on their credit cards which were kept on file. Melanie and Rita would talk to employees about other employees being fired or let go, which was both manipulative and completely unprofessional. The amount of financially questionable things going on there are both alarming and dissapointing. As for the lady who wrote above about her wedding . . . I know who she is and her entire party was more than horrible. She has been refered to as Bridezilla, and I would bet she is this way more often than not. Tonto's employees had their complaints as well. All I know is if you book at Rancho and happen to show up when management has paid the bills, it is a beautiful serene place to relax and enjoy the sonoran desert. If you see Swede or Rich, you be sure to tip them well! Pros: Wonderful staff/service amazing Spa Beautiful casitas Cons: Con Artists Run the Joint more

No TV Service Available 9/4/2008

We stayed at this resort in early August. For 4 out of the 5 days of our stay there was no television service available-not even network channels. We were told daily that it was a ""receiver"" problem, but on the third day of no service, we called the satellite company directly and were told that the master account had not been paid. Each day they told us the problem was being fixed, and we were never told the truth during our entire stay. If we had, we would have chosen to move to another resort (a reasonably priced, quality resort is not hard to find in AZ in August!). My letters to the manager have remained unanswered. There is information on-line that the developer of the property (Rancho Manana Ventures LLC), which manages the resort, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on 8/13! No wonder the bill was not paid, and no wonder I have gotten no response! Too bad - it is a beautiful property. more

Wonderful place to get away, if the resort was run by people who CARED. 9/3/2008

I am an ex-employee of Rancho Manana and while nothing horrible ever happened to me while I was employed there, I witnessed a lot of things that went on with the resort and it's managers that I definitely disagree with. For one, this resort has what we call Private Residence Club Members, these people own anywhere from one month to six months out of the year in which they can come relax, get away, spend time with family or friends, and experience the beautiful town of Cave Creek, AZ. You would think that any General Manager would want to accommodate these members as best they can, keep them happy, and be respectful. From what I watched happen at my time working there, it was anything but. The general manager would keep herself scarce if there was ANY PROBLEM with these members, or try and pawn them off onto another office employee. It seemed like she just didn't care about how these customers felt or what they had to say. For such a wonderful place to work and stay, I hope someone can come in and turn the management around. Besides not caring about her guests, the G.M. doesn't give a hoot about her employees either (figures). I still keep in touch with others that I worked with at the resort and from I understand, they are going through some hard times now...All of the higher ups in the office (including the G.M. and her crony) have just up and left. It's been TWO WEEKS since ANY of the resort and spa employees have been paid. Before the G.M. left, she promised all of them that they would be paid 6 days following their first unpaid pay day. The six days came, they passed, and now it's been 14. With only a handful of employees left, the ones that have stayed are the ones that care. The resort will soon be booked, members will arrive, and weddings will take place. I only pray that with the grace of God, everything will work out for employees and guests alike. Pros: Wonderful salon, restaurant, and golf course on property. Cons: All the head managers have fled, and they need someone to step-in that can really turn the place around more

Wonderful Experience 6/13/2008

I'm not sure who wrote the reviews above, sounds like a disgruntled someone or other, but my husband and I have been to this resort twice in the last two years and have never had a bad experience. The worst thing that has ever happened was a tarantula walking near the pool, but that wasn't the resort's fault! Pros: Beautiful surroundings, grounds and rooms. Friendly staff. Cons: Desert is very hot. more

Worst resort ever ran.. 4/19/2008

Melanie and Rita at Rancho-Manana Resort have been defrauding ILX of there room Revenue. Hiding rooms and putting rooms out of service so the resort doesn't have to pay ILX there Revenue. Cons: Melanie and Rita are Con's more

Worst Experience I could have feared for my wedding. 3/4/2008

Had my wedding here. It was from top to bottom, a miserable experience. I have never encountered such disregard for a customer and I was spending a ton of money since many wedding guests were staying there. It is not being run well at all. One of the employees who was so disgruntled, came with keys in the middle of the night and made off with lots of equipment from the pool canteen. That's a staff member with a key to the place, so it is NOT SECURE. Luckily, the restaurant and hair salon are separately owned and those places have great people. But there was not a single thing that went well and no one including the owner, kept their word on anything. This is a Shell Properties time share but is owned privately and run by the most inept group of people I have ever encountered. Do not stay here, you will be soo disappointed if you do. However, surely stop and eat at the excellent Tonto Bar and Grille. The food is absolutely outstanding and that staff is terrific! they saved the day along with the salon staff and the perfect weather!!! After the fact, I and several wedding guests discovered we had been erroneously and/or double charged by this circus of a Resort. Check your bill if you find yourself here for some crazy reason. Or just avoid it and go to the Carefree Resort up the street 10 minutes. Pros: Shares grounds with an excellent Restaurant and Salon Cons: Rude, dishonest staff. Completely Disorganized and unprofessional more
