Sounds nice, but CLOSED OVER TWO YEARS AGO 1/18/2011

The restaurant may sound nice. But realize that it has been CLOSED for over TWO YEARS. Way to stay current, citysearch. Don't plan on eating here tonight before going to the concert. more

They Don't Know What There Missing. 5/5/2007

My wife and I had heard about Rainwater from a few are our friends, but my wife was skeptical given what she read on the recent review. WELL LET ME TELL YOU, we have found our new favorite place. From the minute we arrived you could telll that the staff, from the valet, the host to our server, right down the the managers, that they were there to make sure we had the best time. The service by our waiter was perhaps the best we have had in atlanta since we moved here from Chicago, and the food was absolutely out of the world. Great flavors, wonderful presentations, as good as any of the best restaurants we have visted in Buckhead. And to go along with the food a wine list for anyone from price to type of wine. It was a tremendous suprise to find a place with the type of experience that most of our friends think you can only have in Midtown or Buckhead right in our backyard. If you haven't given Rainwater a try, do not wait any longer. It is our new favorite restaurant. Pros: Service, food, ambience. Cons: wish we knew about it sooner. more

What a Disappointment! 2/20/2007

We made a dinner reservation one month ahead at this restaurant for our Valentine's Day celebration. We picked this place because of the reviews listed on this website. The valet service offered by the restaurant is great. We were taken to a room that was plain and had no decoration on the wall. We sat by the window and it was freezing. Despite we told the waitress to turn up the heat, there was not much help. We ordered one pre-fix dinner and two additional dishes. Thruough out the entire meal, the scallop and the crabcake were the best. However, the lobster was barely warm and very dry (there is no gravy/sauce for the lobster). In addition, the sauce on the beef was too sweet. At the end, we ordered chocolate cake w/ vanilla ice cream and the cake tasted like it had been refrigerated for days. The bill came up to $150. My husband and I did not complaint about the food to the waitress because they were super busy that night plus our waitress was very nice. Although the service was very good, we were not impressed with the food at all. We had better steak at Stoney River. more

Took My Breath Away once... 12/12/2006

...only to have me gasp my second time back. My wife and I had one great experience here. So the owner of my company and I decided to invite some key clients for a holiday gathering. Well, I couldn't feel more disappointed. The private room was poorly appointed...no paintings, no decorations, no plants. The wait staff was excellent, the food was adequate, but the management was horrendous at customer service. When faced with a billing discrepancy, instead of trying to reach resolution, management chose to be completely unaccomodating. While they ""hoped this didn't leave a bad impression,"" they did nothing to improve the impression, instead treating us rudely. I feel duped and embarassed since we went there on my recommendation. more

Best Service in Metro-Atlanta 11/14/2006

I LOVE this place. I have been 6x's in a two year period and I have always had a delighful time. Attentive staff, great romantic ambience and good food. We are always seated by the fireplace (they track your seating), the chef made a special appetizer for me and the hubby's anniversary and surprised us with a nice desert on the house. They did the same for our b-days as well. Pros: superb service Cons: too far to drive if you live on the west side of town more

Buckhead without the drive 4/4/2006

We have driven by Rainwater many times over the past few years. Most times on our way to Buckhead for a nice night out. We have always heard that it is a nice place for dinner. This past weekend we decided to give Rainwater a try. All we can say is nice is an understatement. Let's just say BRILLIANT. The food was spectacular, the wine list extraordinary, the service was the best, and an atmosphere to rival any of the restaurants in Buckhead. We used to think that the only place to go for this kind of experience was Buckhead or Midtown. Not any more! What a brilliant night! more

Chocolate Bar 12/3/2005

Was very disappointed in the 9-11 Chocolate Bar. Very small and not a lot to pick from. Half of items weren't even chocolate. ""fondue"" chocolate was very runny and would not stick to strawberries. Hard store bought vanilla looking cookies??? Icing on cake wasn't even chocolate. Cool whip mix with a swirl of chocolate and put in small cups had hardly any taste. Would not reccommend this part of restaurant event. more

Rainwater Quinches Culinary Thirst 9/9/2005

From the atmosphere to the meal, everything was wonderful. The Black Grouper and Duck are highly recommended. The service is professional but not stuffy. A perfect addition to our dinning card. Pros: Atmosphere, Taste, Wine List more

The Rain Has Come 2/16/2003

My wife and another couple wanted to go out to a nice dinner. A co-worker suggested Rainwater. I was blown away. The restaurant is designed beautifully with separate dinning room. The food was fantastic. I had calamari for an app, the rainwater salad, then the halibut . It came with a stack of grilled veggies and bread that the waiter told me was made at the restaurant. For desert we all shared the staircase and apple fritters. It was the best meal out I had eaten in a while. The best part however was that the owner's father came to our table and chatted with us for a few seconds, then as we were leaving he offered a guided tour of the place and we even were allowed into the kitchen to meet the chef. It was a great night out and worth the cost even though it was expensive. Pros: great service, great atmosphere, fantastic food Cons: high end, reservation suggested, mostly non-smoking more

Average Food/Above Average Service 2/10/2003

The setting is beautiful and our service was impeccable. The house spinach salad with brie dressing was delicious. However, the entrees were mediocre at best. Our fish was dry and lacking any discernable flavor. So far, Rainwater is as good as it gets in the Northern suburbs, but still a far cry from what one would get in Buckhead. Pros: atmosphere, service, salad Cons: entrees more

Delicious Romantic Dinner 1/17/2003

The piano bar was a fabulous place to spend time. Each dish we ordered was delicious and excellently presented. The service was attentive and discreet. I look forward to returning soon! more

Decadent 1/8/2003

I had the unbelievable pleasure of dining at one of Atlanta's finest restaurants last eveing. Not only was the service and presentation superb but the food was an experience of palatable decadence. I had Field Greens(salad) followed by Grouper Marsala which actually made me slow my eating in order to savor the wonderful flavors the chef so brilliantly mastered. The desserts can only be described as ""Culinary ART""! I ordered the Raspberry Staircase and was blown away at the vision that was placed before me. Of course then when I took the first bite.....well it was the climatic pinnacle for this unforgettable dining experience. I can honestly say after eating at some of the finest restaurants around the country RAINWATER delivers it ALL! more

wonderful! 12/16/2002

I had heard many good things about Rainwater, and since going there, I have found that they are true! I had a wonderful experience. The food was superb--I had the duck comfit, warm brie/spinach salad, rainwater trio of filet mignon, salmon and chicken, and beignets. Everything was presented elegantly and promptly. The service was good, although he was at our table almost too much. I know, how picky. But I definitely recommend this restuarant to everyone. Just make sure you budget for it. Pros: beautiful decor, great wine list Cons: a little pricey more

Not so good....... 12/15/2002

I have been there twice for group luncheons..... if you are into weird foods and wonderful presentations, then this is the place for you. If you want a decent meal, I would go for someplace else. Not a good value in my opinion. The place is certainly elegant, the service is good, however, their food leaves a little bit to be desired for. more

rainwater captured my heart 10/15/2002

Fine Dining and fine service are an art unto themselves, at Rainwater Restaurant I was happily surprised to find both. There is a real committment to quality and satisfaction that is not taken for granted as it is at most Atlanta Restaurants. I found the prices reasonable for the food both in taste and presentation. Pros: beautiful, quality, best service Cons: alpharetta more

Rain on Me! 9/29/2002

This is an AWESOME place. Second visit so far. The best service and food that I can remember. Try the tuna appetizer and the chocolate souffle dessert. Get's a little pricy if you get apps, main, and wine. But then again, you only live once! Pros: Service, Food, Ambiance Cons: Costly more

Superb! 8/26/2002

Rainwater is by far one of the most elegant restaurants in Alpharetta. We continue to go there and have never been disappointed. From the food, the service, the atmosphere, the wine...you can't go wrong! more
