Compassion Second to None 6/12/2011

I honestly don't think I would have been able to comprehend anything without Abbie. She treated us with dignity and respect, went above and beyond to ensure our requests were honored and gave sound advice when we were confused and could not make a decision. It is a heart wrenching time when a loved one passes on and I thank God that Querhammer & Flagg had the staff they had to hold our hands while we made the arrangements for my husband. The funeral home has a family atmosphere and is run on compassion. Abbie and Karen, I thank you from my heart for everything you did for us. more

A bit on the trashy side... 12/21/2008

I mean, they know how to do the job good enough, but would it hurt them any to buy a new suit with all that money I just gave them? God, I felt almost sorry for them; which, concerning my own saturation in self-pity seems a bit distracting, I know. I've actually arranged three funerals within my family in the past two years (the other two were professionally handled by FAMILY OWNED place in Chicago), and I will never understand why my grandpa insisted on this r_dn_ck establishment. I am glad to read that other people have actually experienced a positive relationship with this corporate firm, but I kick myself in the @ss for not going elsewhere. They put the obituary in the paper with wrong info, TWICE, printed out our folders wrong, and failied to mention a discount for my family member having been a veteran until I asked THEM after the service. They pushed packages onto us with all kinds of "extras" I neither needed nor wanted. Just too many details to get wrong in my opinion. The screwed up at a vital moment in my life. I will never forget the confusion they caused my family. Pros: The cemetery did a great job. Cons: The funeral home I hired failed to meet any standard. PUSHY. Salespeople. Money-hungry. Dirty. more

Caring, compassionate, professional... 11/7/2008

The staff at Querhammer & Flagg Funeral Home are the best! Unfortunately I needed their services twice this year and both times my family and friends were treated with the utmost respect. We did not think we would be able to have a viewing for my mom but the ladies at the funeral home all do such a wonderful job, my mom looked so peaceful. I would highly recommend this funeral home. Pros: caring, compassionate, professional Cons: none more

Wish I didn't have to go through this but, Querhammer and Flagg helped 7/11/2008

When my father passed away a couple of weeks ago, it was the first funeral I had to make arrangements for in my life. I have been to many many many funerals but never had to make the arrangements personally. The staff at Querhammer & Flagg treated us with the utmost respect and compassion. Every detail was tended to from beginning to end, including questions and concerns after the services were concluded. I felt like they were a continuation of our family helping us through a very difficult and emotional time. Many family members have remarked what a beautiful service we had to honor our father, and I really owe it to the staff at Querhammer and Flagg. We are considering doing some pre-planning with them in the future. more

So thankful for Querhammer 3/31/2008

The tough thing about reviews is that a bad one can define a business. I cannot believe the other review can be for the same funeral home that just managed the funeral for my father who we buried today. From the beginning of the process last week, we had unique requests and they needed to be expedited. As soon as they realized that a package wasn't for us, they helped us with the ala carte services that worked for us. The compassion the funeral directors showed, Karen included, was incredible and they turned things around very fast so that we could hold the service in a prompt manner that worked for our family. I strongly encourage anyone who is looking for an exceptional and compassioate funeral home in Crystal Lake to use Querhammer. To the folks at Querhammer, thank you for helping us through a very tough time for our family. more

Cold Hearted Funeral "Professionals". 2/15/2008

Querhammer & Flagg's establishment took care of my family's loss late last year, and a director, Karen, took care of us. She was distant, impatient, and obviously had her thought elsewhere. We wanted to do something special for our service, but she insisted on "packages" that forced many things we had no need for, but still had to pay for. She did not help us personalize in any way. The reason we chose this firm is because of our family history there, but it is no longer family owned. The corporate attitude there is careless and cold. At the visitation, a older man (an ex-retired cop I heard?) was SO rude to everyone coming in the door. My entire family felt more than alienated and we would never recommend this funeral "home" to anyone who is grieving. Pros: NONE!!! Cons: RUDE, COLD, IMPERSONAL, IMPATIENT, PUSHY SALES PEOPLE!! more
