SOFT SHELL CRAB TO DIE FOR 12/10/2008

Kind of far from civilization, but near the 7 Train, but fortunately, not difficult to find. Be ready to wait to be seated at peak hours, so make reservations (it never really seems like they take these very seriously though) and GET THERE EARLY! Pros: Fantastic food, worth the wait Cons: Can be busy, crowded and slow serviced more

Be ready to wait to be seated at peak hours, so make reservations (it never really seems like they take these very seriously though) and GET THERE EARLY! \r \r Must haves on the menu are as follows: SOFT SHELL CRAB (with Basil and hot peppers)---YUM. The Green Curry is brilliant. Drunken noodles are fantastic. Most dishes are spicy, and can be on the salty side, but is to be expected of Thai menus. \r \r Tum Yum Soup is so sour it'll burn a hole in your stomach---but I think that's the way its intended to be.\r Whole Fish can be a little dry, so, order both with caution.\r \r The have a pretty large selection of rice choices which I found to be quite delightful: sticky, jasmine, coconut and brown.\r \r ENJOY! MUST GO!! Pros: Fantastic food, worth the wait Cons: Can be busy, crowded and slow serviced more

Incredible Panang Curry Chicken; Sub-par and rushed service 11/22/2008

Food was excellent. (Chicken Basil: good and spicy; Chicken pad thai: great; Panang Chicken: incredible; curry puffs: good; spring rolls: good and a lot of them; tum yum soup: good and spicy).\r \r The service could have been better. Our waitress was fine, however, our food was brought out all at once (our appetizers and one of our entrees and the rice). Secondly, when I asked one of the girls (she cleans tables, tends bar, and prints checks) who brought our check over if I could please have a tum yum soup order to go, she said it would be twenty minutes and pointed to the line of people waiting to get in. That was obviously a lie since our food had come out in ten minutes and all at once (therefore the food is already prepared), and really, it seemed like she just wanted us to leave so she could bring in the next group of people. Personally, I felt rushed by both the food coming out at once and the girl refusing to package an extra order of soup and simply adding that to our check.\r \r Decor is fine. Nothing fancy but not shabby either.\r \r Overall, excellent food with sub-par service. The food is just as good as another Thai place that's about ten blocks away, Arunee Thai. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

THE BEST THAI RESTAURANT IN NYC 11/8/2008

Sripraphai is simply the best Thai food restaurant in the city. I've eaten here more often than any other restaurant in the city--actually anywhere and it's never failed. If you're looking to order beyond the pad thai (which is great here) try these dishes: 1. Green Curry with fish paste, Thai eggplant. 2. Pork leg with mustard greens 3. Saute crispy pork with chili & basil leaves. For appetizers try these: 1. Fried Pickle pork 2. Sweet sausage with cucumber, onion, chili & lime 3. Grilled meatballs with spicy sauce\r If you haven't been to this place yet. GO NOW!!! more

Excellent and delicious thai food 7/25/2008

I hadn't been here in a while (before the renovations and expansion) but the food is still just as good. Calling in for some take out, we ordered the sweet sausage app, beef drunken noodles, duck green curry, and after asking for a suggestion for something I haven't tried before, they suggested the watercress salad. After getting home and taking out the contents, I was surprised that the watercress was fried and then you mix the contents of that into the cashews, shrimp, squid, chicken and lime. Crunchy, sweet and tart, it was the best thai dish I've ever had. even though we had 4 dishes, the rest were ignored as we ate 3/4 of that dish before we even touched the green curry and noodles. Sweet sausages was good but nothing special. The green curry over the coconut rice rice was excellent as well. The duck wasn't overcooked at all. I would have liked to see more fat from the skin rendered out though, but that's my personal preference as i don't like fat at all. The noodles were so fiery it couldn't be eaten without a few ice cold beverages. Very tasty though. The price was modest and the food excellent, what more could you want? Pros: The food Cons: looked crowded more

Horrible Story,Worst service in my life. 6/21/2008

They serve us red snapper in chili and basil leaves, which I did not order. So I told the waiter, that we didn't order the snapper. Then she told us that we were wrong and we had ordered the snapper. When we told her (again) that we had not ordered it, so she said, with an attitude in her voice, ""So u don't want this right? The kitchen is closed, so you still won't get what you want if I take this back."" So we figured fine, since we were hungry. The green curry came a few minutes later, we realized that there was no eggplant in it at all--it was just curry with fishpaste and basil leaves, bamboo shoots, and ginger. Again, NOT what we had ordered. Where was the eggplant? Then I saw our waitress taking orders at another table. Bad service is one thing. LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS is another. She must not have thought we would see her taking orders. I will never come back to this place. There are plenty of better Thai restaurants that have better food and QUALITY service. Pros: place looks nice Cons: Bad Service, too expensive for food that not that great more

Authentic Thai food, Good value 6/12/2008

We trekked out to Queens from the city on a Saturday night based on a recommendation from a friend. There was a wait, but our party of 6 was promptly seated when a table became available. They have a pretty good number system in place. We ordered family-style and got to try quite a few dishes. Each dish was flavorful and authentic (according to my friends who just got back from Thailand). The wine was not over-priced and the coconut ice cream was probably the best I've had. Pros: Authentic Thai food Cons: Cash only more

The most Authentic Thai food you will ever find 5/24/2008

If you know variety of real Thai dishes, you will like this place a lot. If you don't then I don't know you will find it different from other Thai restaurants. \r \r I am a Thai girl, have lived in the states for 3 yrs. \r I live in DFW Texas area. I always eat out and Thai food is definitely my preferred.\r \r I tried as many new Thai restaurants as possible in DFW or when I'm on vacation. What I'm looking for is an authenticity of Thai food and that's what I found in Sripraphai. ( oh I also cook many Thai dishes sometimes.)\r Sripraphai may not be the best Thai restaurant for everybody, however, if you love real Thai taste you will not be regret.\r \r To enjoy Sripraphai the most, I recommend if you have Thai friends who can expose you to new delicious dishes other than RED/GREEN or Pad Thai or drunken noodles. Some of you who like plain Thai dishes that most restaurants adjust the western taste to it, you might not like Sripraphai.\r This place suits people who want to discover new Thai dishes with rich and authentic taste.\r \r I just visited Sripraphai in May 2008 here what I tried and you may want to order.\r \r TRY fried red snapper with sour and spicy (and a bit sweet) mango sauce $18.00\r or fried cat fish with the same sauce. $13.00\r TRY Kang SOM with fried egg in it. (light soup( no coconut milk) with spicy and sour taste.) $8.00 \r TRY Nam Tok noodles soup. ( Dark Soup)\r and when I say spicy and sour remember most Thai dishes always carry sweet taste, so don't be scared.\r \r Oh The good quality Fish Cake or Shrimp cake supposed to be a bit chewy and bouncy, not just soft.\r Shrimp cake was awesome.\r \r I also had known tha t Sripraphai has secret Thai Tea recipe. ( I guess Thai coffe too.) It's good trust me, at least it's good for most Thai people. It was made fresh daily and to make it you need boiling water that's why when they serve it, it might not be cold enough. Just let the server know you need more ICE.\r Pros: Authenticity more
