Best

My husband and I agree, this is the best Italian food that we have ever had. We actually live in Nashville, TN but love to go to Chicago for fun. Quartino's atmosphere and friendl...

Worst

This is on the tourist strip and is full of tourists. It is so loud. The food was average at best. It simply was not a comfortable experience. Cons: Too loud

Probably the best deal in chicago 6/24/2007

My girlfriend first suggested we eat here and my expectations were blown away. The food is very fresh and prepared to perfection. Every time we eat at Quartino we try to order new dishes but its so hard because you always want what you had last time! One cool thing is that they cure their own meats which are excellent. The service is usually good, but occasionally we get orders mixed up or a server we wished would stop talking. If I was paying 5 star prices, this would be an issue, but since we can get away with a $30 bill for 2 people, I'm not complaining. I think by far, Quartino is the best value in the city (at least for their lunch menu). more

Nothing to write home about 5/11/2007

Service was great, but the food was just average. Ordering wine by the liter is a fun concept, but the quality of the wine wasn't anything to write home about. The pizza was bland; risotto undercooked; and several other pasta dishes seemed lacking. The fried polenta was tasty, so was the gnocchi. Everything else was just ok. Pros: Value, Good for groups, service Cons: Bland food, loud, crowded more

Great atmosphere, great service and great value 3/27/2007

We walked into this restaurant for lunch, as Pizzeria Uno and Due had a line out the door. It is about a block west of ""Due."" What a great find! The food (pizza) is authentic NY Italian and delicious. The wine is reasonably priced, comes in carafes. The waiters all seem to be from the same Italian family, and act like they own the business and really care that you have a good experience. Pros: Delicious food, great service, reasonable price Cons: seating is a bit tight, ask for a quieter section more

Absolutely outstanding! I'll never be hungry for Italian food again! 3/27/2007

Outstanding! A ""10""! Quartino is like Olive Garden in the city. We loved it. Right from the start, the waiter asked us ""have you been here before?"" Like music to our ears. We got very excited and I bet you know why! A HOOK. The restaurant has a hook. I'll skip it however, and get to the delicious food. Pros: Lots of cheddar cheese! Cons: No stuffed crust! more

good, but also depends on your mood 3/3/2007

I've been going to Quartino here & there for the past 1 1/2 years or so for lunch, dinner, as a couple, as a group, as a small party, with & without kids. We've found the food to be good & the service never rude. During high dinner rushes, service anywhere is generally slower in places where people flock at the same time. The prices to me are good for the wallet & the small plates allow you to sample a variety. Their cheese fondue is fun & of course...who can pass up chocolate fondue. Mmmm. I like that the wine can be ordered as a full liter, a 1/2 liter or a 1/4 liter (served in a carafe). It's different. It is VERY loud so it's great for groups. If your looking for a romantic or just a quaint night, pick another place. Quartino is lively & there's lots of traffic. Seating can be very tight. Valet is $5 - good stuff! I say if you've never been, try it out for lunch first. If you like it, do dinner (make reservations) with at least 4 or more people. They will not seat you without the entire party present. Again, it is a very loud venue so bring your concert voice. Pros: Prices, Small Plates, Fun, Wine, Servers made good suggestions Cons: VERY loud, not a good one on one spot during peak hours more

Quartino 2/7/2007

Quartino is very noisy, the food is over pepered. Prices are fine. We went with some out of town cusens who were there before. thay did not like it there also. I would not recommend this resterant to ANYONE. Pros: price Cons: noisy overspiced food more

Value to quality ratio off the charts! 11/20/2006

I walked in as a solo diner which turned out to be a shame as the nice waitress pointed out my best options. It would've been more fun to be able to try a lot of different things which being with a group would have allowed. But , get this! I had a half panini sandwich with a cup of FRESH tomato/basil soup = a side of olives - and a glass and a half of pinot grigio - and the bill came to $12 dollars! I'm organizing a group to go next time. The atmosphere is ao authentic italien - there's even italien movies playing on screens in every corner. Pros: quality and value Cons: noise more

Great Cavatelli 11/13/2006

I live right by Quartino and recently tried it. The place is known for it's small plates and a ""quartinos"" of wine. The sevrice is very attentive and it's great for a small bite before a night on the town. I felt like I was eating in my grandmother's kitchen. It was a very comfy environment, but does tend to get busy. Pros: Service, Location, Cavatelli Cons: Pizza, expected more selections on the menu more

Tell your friends! 11/2/2006

This is one of my new favorite Italian restaurants in town. The sharing portions make each meal a fun and new experience no matter with who you are dining. The mozzarella is about as fresh as it can get, and the Toscana Pecorino it incredibly tasty. Great wine choices too, and a good value for what you get. Anyone you bring to this restaurant can find something they will love! Pros: Fresh incredible food, great selection, unique dining experience. Cons: A little loud. more

Great Group Dining 8/16/2006

I was just at Quartino with a group of friends and thouroughly enjoyed the experience! Our server was genial and attentive, and reccomended a great wine for the table. The risottos were delicious, although those and the fish took a little longer to come to the table. We ordered about half the menu and everything was great! A fun tapas-style experience. I will be back for sure. Pros: Great Value, Fun Dining Experience, Bellinis Cons: Slow on the check more

Fantastic italian...served family style! 7/17/2006

Quartino is unlike any other restaurant I have ever been to...Italian or otherwise. Some have described it as Italian tapas. You pretty much order up a bunch of plates, and then everyone at the table takes some from each plate. It is an excellent way to sample a bunch of different foods. I am a huge fan of the Gnocchi (potato dumplings in a pesto sauce). Also, the suasage pizza is awesome. And for dessert I like the Sgroppino; it's like a milkashake with a kick *wink*. Pros: Unique restaurant concept in the Chicagoland area. Cons: The uninitiated may find it daunting at first. more

Rediculous Prices!!! 7/13/2006

I have no idea how they're pulling this off for these prices! This restaurant would be a great value if you walked up to a counter and ordered your food, but instead we had great service and a lot of fun! Pros: Lots of reasonable wines by the caraffe more

Great food, service and price!!! 7/12/2006

We went there having heard great things about this newly opened restaurant and even though I am skeptical by nature I must say everything about this place exceeded my spectations. We went there on a Monday night and the place was buzzing with people. The atmosphere is loud but fun. Try to get a table near the banquets in the back and you can watch all the action. Everything we tried from the pepperoni pizza to the homemade Bigoli to the Lamb Shank was just amazing. The service was great and the best part was getting the check. I thought our server had made a mistake but everything was on the bill and still so affordable. Pros: Valet for $5, fun and affordable Cons: a bit noisy more

Best Deal in Town! 7/12/2006

I have been to Quartino a hand full of times and each experience tops the previous one and that's hard to believe. The food is as good as it gets in Chicago with a price tag everyone can afford. The Valet is even inexpensive. The crowd is fun to watch and the bar and patio are quite the scene. The Best Pizza in the city with a thin, crisp crust and the freshest ingredients. I usually don't enjoy the tapas notion of sharing your food except Quartino has taken this concept to a whole new level. The portions are large and actually big enough to share with a large group. I can't forget to mention the drinks. The Peach Bellini is made from fresh peach necter and the lemoncello alone is worth the visit. The entire staff is always attentive and informative. I highly reccommend Quartino!!!! Pros: Great Food, Geat Prices Cons: The Wait for a table more
