Amazing!!! 5/4/2012

Absolutely amazing! My daughter has only attended the center for a year and a half (starting when she was 3) but I've seen such a change in her. She'll be starting kindergarten this fall and I'm confident she'll do well because her teachers have done such an incredible job of preparing her! Every day when I pick her up, I'm amazed by how much she's learned, the whole drive home she chats happily about everything she's done that day. I wish I'd known about this place years ago when I was first looking for day care. I recommend it to all of my friends! more

Best in town 6/7/2011

My son's been attending Quala for 3 years and I'm so happy to have found this place. He's had a couple different teachers but they've all been great and they clearly love the kids. I'm a single mother and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support we get from everyone at the center, the owners will do anything to help you. My son was at Childtime before coming to Quala and I'm really happy we made the switch. more

They're wonderful! 4/6/2011

After hearing about the recent postings by disgruntled former employees, I wanted to share what a wonderful experience we've had at Quala Care over the past 5 years. My daughter has been attending Quala since she was a baby and has had a couple different teachers in her time there but we especially love Ms. Tanya! She's always looked forward to going to ""school"" in the mornings and I've never had to worry about her while I was at work. The office can be a little unorganized but they really do try to be as accomodating as possible and I appreciate that. When I come to pick up at the end of the day, the kids are clean and happy and excited to tell me what they did or show me what they made that day and I really don't think you can ask for more than that! more

Review for Quala Care 2/28/2011

So after further thinking I thought it would be best to put my thoughts online for all to read. Quala Care has been in business for 20 years, and for someone who believes that its whats best for the children, Quala Care has a different perception, its all about MONEY!! I have never been surrounded by a child care center that had their employees do all the dirty work! For as much money as parents pay for childcare, the last thing we want to see is our child's teacher picking up trash in the parking lot , shoveling snow, washing the owner's daughter's car, running personal errands for the owner, raking leaves for hours, when they should be teaching our child!! Where are the parents' money going, I ask? Well certainly, not to outsourced businesses to clean up the facility, to shovel snow and do other landscape work. Not to purchasing new toys, books, furniture for the kids. And especially, not to any of the teachers who deserve to see a raise for a job well done. No...its going to the vacations, cars, and vacation homes for the owner and her family. It sickens me to see how these women who take care of our children are treated by higher staff. They are devious staff who will smile at you when you walk in and then talk trash about you behind your back. They will find every little thing wrong about what you do or say, when they themselves don't interact with the kids on a daily basis. Some of the owners don't even live in the same state. So for a group of owners who should be proud of their staff and be involved with the parents and their opinions, are more worried about how much money they can suck out of their parents and improve their own lifestyles. The teachers of Quala Care deserve a better reputation. They do this job b/c of their love of children. As parents' we want was is best for our kids. And sometimes we don't always have better sources to rely on. Therefore, we have no choice but to subject our children to a center like Quala Care has become. My kids have built a very good relationship with their teachers and that is why they still attend there. However, as much as I hate to say, I am surprised to see how many of these teachers have remained there for many years after being treated the way they are. Heck, they should get together and open a more reputable center that could put QC out of business. One more thought, if QC's higher mgmt focused more on what's best for these great group of kids, they would not go through such a fast teacher turnaround. Its the teachers and parents that know whats best, not the owners who live across the country. A pat on the back and a ""job well done"" on a regular basis can make a world of difference!! more

I am discusted by this place! 2/28/2011

I cant beging to tell you how all of these bad reviews are 100% true!! I have personly been cursed out by my ""boss"" I am treated lower than dirt , then im excpeted to smile and help make them money. I work 40 hours weeks to barley pay my bills and have enough money to eat while The OWNERS sit on their ipads, and drink their star bucks, and talk about how wonderful japan was and how nice the house in florida is. I work my ass off to please the parents and children and my bosses, just to be told what I do wrong ,never right, I am never told ""thank you"" or asked what i think. After hours of classes and hundreds of dollars spent learning how to interact with children I am told to ""scrub the BASEBOARDS..and the GUNK ON THE TILE (from the wax!) and SCRUB edges around the carpet"" , ""clean the toilets"". I was even told SEVERAL TIMES TO PICK UP ALL THE TRASH AND CIGARETTE BUTTS OFF OF THE PARKING LOT! ALSO when we were to order shirts, if michelle( the owners daughter who runs everything) likes you, and your SKINNY you are allowed to order a different shirt...but if you are a thick girl, you were only allowed to buy the regular tee shirts.. Quala cares FIRST and ONLY priorerty is MONEY, and always has been, I worked there for 6+ years and I can say the things i have seen, and heard and also the things that were done to me were heart wrenching. they will one day regret their cold heartless ways when they have to finally answer to someone more powerful then them. they preach ""we are family owned, not a corporation."" screw that at least at other chain daycare I would AND NOW DO receive heath care and benefits, and I AM RESPECTED! I CANT BELIEVE THEY ARE STILL IN BUISNESS!!!!! I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone!!! more

re: comments by ANONYMOUS52 2/25/2011

This person is telling the truth. Parents are smiled at and then talked behind their backs. Staff is treated badly. Aides hired as janitorial people instead of learning how to be an aide or BE an aide. Aides are even told to wash the owners vehicle. Staff is yelled at as though they are children and given no respect. Owners don't even live in Maryland but half way across the country and off the mainland too. When owners visit, they believe gossip from young girls working there. This place may have been in business for 20 years but it doesn't make it a GOOD business. Be wary parents, be wary. more

I can't begin to tell you how horrible this business is. 2/18/2011

I actually worked at Quala Care for a few years. Some of the things I witnessed, I wished I hadn't. The staff consists of aides(who are responsible for cleaning, and aiding teachers), senior staff(who must have their 90 hour certification), and substitutes(who are certified, and allowed to sub in for a senior staff member for a certain period of time). When I worked there, I was classified as an aide. I did NOT do what an aide should be doing. Yes, I did some cleaning, and aided teachers, but I also was placed into a room with children by myself which is against licensing. I was placed into rooms when the ratio was over what it is allowed to be to one ""teacher"" as well. I also wrote curriculum for the children, which I was never paid for. The children are NOT their first priority; nor was the staff. A staff member who worked there, allowed children to go outside to play without supervision, and as a result of having no supervision, a child fell, and hurt themselves. The staff member was fired, and then a few months later was rehired by his mother, the owner. Quala Care is more worried about money than they are the children of the center. They will have several ""moves"" to hold more children in one room, to make a room available for incoming infants. Quala Care devises a snack plan for each month. Each month has a theme, and they attempt to incorporate this theme into their snacks everyday. In reality, the snacks end up being whatever is in the fridge. Friday's snack consists of ""trail mix"": a mixture of cereals that weren't used throughout that week. Half the time, it's stale.\r During the big snowfall of 2009 and early 2010, the center required the normal rate to be paid, even though the center remained closed for a whole week. What the parents did not know, was that they had no intention on paying the staff. They pocketted all of that money for that week. \r As an employee, I had been yelled at infront of parents and cussed out in the janitors closet. I would not recommend anyone to take their child there, nor would I recommend getting a job there. \r \r None of the things I have said are untrue. \r I feel obligated to express my concerns with parents considering leaving their child there. When I have a child, I may not know where I'm sending my child to daycare, but I know it will NEVER be Quala Care. more

Not a fan 12/2/2010

My child attends QC and although her teachers are young they are great with the kids! I just find soooo many issues with them. Unprofessionalism, everyone is VERY young, they dress messy. The one person that was, I felt over qualified, got fired! The inside of QC needs to be remodeled. It's old and everything are pretty much hand me downs. They ask parents to do fund raisers yet we have no idea what the $ goes to and they won't provide a list of what all the money will go to. I find the size of the rooms to small and then they want to add more kids and a teacher to the room and it's already crowded. There are old bookshelves and corners that are dangerous. Many of times I have observed the teacher NOT paying attention to the kids. I have heard and witness a lot of gossiping! Things kids should not hear! I have witnessed two teachers supervizing a room that are not 90 hour qualified! Communication with in QC is horrible. I have gotten 3 different answers. Teachers should know the law and they don't, they say I dunno ask the front office or tell the camera!!! Even though my child loves the teachers I wish they were more qualifed in education and just general knowledge!!! QC isn't bad but need a overhaul of the staff and facility!!!! more

Quala Care is a blessing! 6/21/2010

Quala Care is an absolute blessing! Our daughter has been attending the center for three years now, since she was three months old, and we could not be happier with her care. We recommend the center to all of our friends. We have several friends with children of the same age at more expensive, more well-known centers, and the quality of care their children receive is not nearly the same as our child's care. \r \r You can see that the teachers truly love these children and enjoy their jobs. The infant room is warm and welcoming, and staff work hard to set parents' minds at ease. They support nursing mothers, as well as formula fed babies, and keep parents well-informed regarding all the children's needs and activities. They rotate rooms based on age and the needs of the children - they do not hold back children if they are not potty-trained like many other centers. They have separate playgrounds for children based on age, and plenty of toys, cleaned daily, and an ample library. \r \r My husband and I visited several centers when we were choosing child care. Other centers had long waiting lists, higher tuition, and did not provide nearly the same level of care. I was frantic after the first few centers we visited. I didn't want to leave my baby in anybody's hands. At other centers, babies seemed unhappy and lonely. But when we stepped foot into the infant room at Quala Care, relief flooded me. We were home. Pros: Wonderful teachers, caring family atmosphere more

So happy we found this place 12/8/2009

This place has given my daughter excellent care. The outdoor play area is one of the nicest I've seen. Behavior issues are handled in a calm and professional manner, and it is clear that the preschool teachers really love working with children. Only negative: the preschoolers & prekindergarten classrooms really could use an area rug for their circle time. I agree with the other reviewer that many of the carpets look worn, and uninviting to sit upon. Pros: best playground, best teachers, hours Cons: carpeting more

Good center, good value 9/30/2009

Overall, we've been very pleased with our experience, especially by how much our son's learned in their preschool program. It's normally very convenient for us because I work right across the street but I wish they would open earlier so that my husband could drop off some days. We've only had one or two issues and they were quickly and satisfactorily handled by the office staff. They seem to have a lot of staff turnover but I don't have anything to compare it to and it is a large center. Pros: Location, Price Cons: Hours of operation more

Response to Kelly 9/13/2009

My name is Janet Harrington and I am the owner of Quala Care Child Center, Inc. My personal cell phone number is 303-810-5235. Citysearch offered to remove my personal information from the posting but I declined that offer. I would be more than happy to discuss this situation with anyone. Quala Care has been in business for over 19 years. We have a stellar reputation in the community and have many word of mouth referrals. I feel it is necessary to address the slanderous lies that Kelly has posted. Our security deposit is non-refundable and that is clearly stated on our registration forms. Unfortunately, we have had parents miscarry and when that has happened, we have always refunded their deposit. That is exactly what we told Kelly when she signed up. She never asked about layoffs. If she had, she would have been told that she would be allowed to use up the tuition for drop-in care but that we would not refund the deposit. Loss of employment is clearly not comparable to a miscarriage. As in many other aspects of life, a non-refundable deposit is just that - non-refundable. We have had a positive working relationship with over 1,000 families in our community. Kelly was clearly unhappy when I refused to refund her deposit when her husband lost his job but in fairness to all of our other customers, I followed our policy. Again, please feel free to contact me with any questions. more

HORRIBLE- NO MORALS 7/20/2009

QUALA HAS A DISREGARD FOR ETHICS AND THE WELLFAIR OF THE FAMILIES THAT GO THERE. I miscarried last year. Before I paid the 2 week nonrefundable security deposit I asked if I had another miscarriage would they give me my money back. The owner said for miscarriage & layoff I would get the money back. When my husband was layed off I asked to please refund my deposit knowing I'd lose my admin fee & slot so they could fill it with a permanent family, & when my husband could get another job we would pay the fees again & wait on the list for a slot. This was rejected even though she knew it was going back on her word. She said she was willing to hurting herself just so she could hurt me. She said that even if I'd had a miscarriage she would not have refunded my money. Worse, she said in their 19 years they had only refunded the deposit to 2 women who'd had miscarriages even when the women had brought in proof from their doctors. THAT IS DISGUSTING! Her name is Janet, her phone # is 303-810-5235. I had to write this to defend the women who had miscarried that she's hurt. Cons: Lack of ethics more

Quala is adequate 12/10/2008

I rate Quala daycare as adequate; as an obsessive and involved parent, there?s no place like home; unfortunately I have to work. My daughter began Quala at 3 months of age, she is now 6 months. I?ve had maybe 2 minor issues (again, there?s no place like home) 1. They weren?t feeding my daughter on her schedule. I spoke to the caregiver and owner. This was corrected right away. 2. They were using the daycare?s clothing on my daughter if she had an accident in her clothes. I don?t like shared clothing. My daughter had a bin under her crib with extra clothes, bibs, sheets, blankets, etc. The caregiver was unaware of this. I spoke to her and the owner. From that point on, if they are in need of something for my daughter, they will either call me or leave a note for me. The owner and staff have made all efforts to meet my needs and concerns. I?m not into playing the ?switch daycare? game unless absolutely necessary. Nothing they?ve done has been that offensive where I would pull my daughter out. The staff and owner are friendly, they know all of the children and parents by first name. I do however think the floors and carpet could use a good steam cleaning. As for the parent who said their child contracted RSV, unfortunately that?s a possibility that comes with any daycare. I?m a firm believer in showing presence via phone or popping up unannounced and also voicing concerns. If they know your standards and expectations, then everyone can be on the same page. Pros: Friendly staff Cons: The inside is in need of an update more

Quala Care Child Center----Major Disappointment 3/6/2008

I was very disappointed with Quala Care. My child ended up with a respiratory virus (RSV) and ended up in the hospital. A few other children in the school ended up with the same virus. Additionally, I would go there everyday during lunch and they would let infants cry without trying to console them. My child would come home in diapers that were a few sizes too small even though I had enough diapers for them and my child?s spare outfit was lost. In the infant room, it wasn?t uncommon to see 6 infants with one teacher. I would not send my child to this center. more

We Couldn't Be Happier! 6/17/2006

My two children have been going to Quala Care for several years now and we couldn't be happier! My three year old has had the same teacher since he was an infant and we really feel like she is one of the family. My older son is in the second grade now and still enjoys going to Quala Care for before and after school care. The atmosphere at Quala Care is warm and nurturing, so different from the sterile, impersonal environment found at so many large centers. Just walking into the building you can tell that the children and happy and well cared for. The office staff is always cheerful and helpful and greets every child by name and both my children look forward to seeing their teachers every morning (especially on Monday when they can tell them all about their weekends). All in all we couldn't be happier with Quala Care. I would definitely recommend it to everyone! more
