top notch kennel and staff 7/12/2016

I liked Don Sterling from the moment we spoke to him on the phone and then met with him. After working with several dog trainers without success, and feeling guilty that we were at fault and doing something wrong, Don put us immediately at ease, and made us feel so relieved about what was really going on. At no cost, he volunteered to meet with my dog and me and he showed me invaluable techniques that were immediately helpful. I could see from our dog's response that Don has a special ability to connect with canines and truly understands how to train them. On a personal level, I have greatly enjoyed getting to know Mr. Sterling and talking about politics and the world. He is fun to see everytime we have a chance to meet. Our dog is currently at the kennel and I know is getting tlc. The grounds are beautiful and the dogs get unusually large personal space to romp around. If you are looking for answers for caring for your dog, look no further than Quail Run. I highly recommend it. more

They have a way with animals that lets them feel secure and at ease so you do not have to worry about your family member when you are away. I will always use their services when we go away where my dogs cannot come with use. Hats off to Mary & Don for there commitment ! more

Don is an amazing trainer and a kind helpful person! 7/8/2016

My husband and I recently visited Quail Run Kennels to get some information about training our barking bichons. We were fortunate to have met Don. He spent a half hour with us and gave us many pointers about dog training. He even worked with one of our dogs and within 15 minutes he had him sitting on command. We listened to his advice on eliminating "barking" and followed through. In less than a week our bichons have stopped barking! Don is an incredible trainer! We are very thankful to have met him!!! more

Obedience Training Class 6/16/2016

I went to Quail Run after adopting my rescue Shar Pei, Don and his staff were great with each step of the way through the obedience classes. As much as training is for the dogs it is for the owners as well. After having 2 prior Shar Pei's this one was a bit more difficult. Now after taking the classes and it being a few weeks out, she is becoming a better behaved dog in the areas I needed to correct. Couldn't have done it without the help of Quail Run!!!!! Thank you Don and your staff. more

Don is Absolutely incredible!! 6/6/2016

I just adopted a teacup chihuahua puppy who is sweet yet highly hostile and was biting myself and my family. I called to inquire about classes and spoke to Don on the phone. He said to come down a few hours after the call so he could help teach me how to handle the situation. After spending a half hour with him little Louie is already taking to the training of disipline and reward incredibly well. He has not gone to attack anyone and when he gets unruly I just apply what I learned and he's responding so well! I can't believe how talented Don is at his craft. I will recommend him to anyone facing problems with their dog and I will be gladly coming to classes in September. Thank you so so much for your know leg and kindness!! more

Amazing care and dedication!! 2/4/2016

I first came to Don Sterling almost 20 years ago. Most recently I spoke to Don about my son's dog (who had also attended classes) who was exhibiting some inappropriate behavior in their new home with anyone trying to enter it. Not only did Don talk to me on the phone immediately for about 15 minutes, but, he asked me to bring the dog down, that day a few hours later, to look at him himself. He talked me through how to address the situation, came up with a plan and is going to work with us to get this dog in check. We want to make his new environment much more relaxed and stress free. Having a home where no one can come visit is unacceptable...I know we'll get through this with his help! more

dog training 1/18/2016

I was referred to Don Sterling at Quail Run Kennels by some K-9 police that I met at one of their demonstrations. I have a german shepherd who exhibits severe territorial tendencies on my property and in my house in terms of his behavior towards strangers. I have gone through several trainers but none has been able to adequately address the problem. I decided to call Don who graciously invited me to bring my dog to him for an observation. I expected that my dog would be hostile – at least at the outset. Much to my surprise, I don’t think 2 minutes had passed before my dog was literally eating out of his hand. I was shocked. Don told me that my dog had really been mis-diagnosed. He quickly evaluated his personality and told me what I needed to do to change his behavior. I am eternally grateful. Don thought that his training classes might help also from the socialization perspective and so we will be signing on to those in the spring. Thank you again, Don. more

Safe and secure 12/6/2015

My experience with Don and his staff is top notch. Quail Run kennels has always set my mind at ease concerning the care they provide for my two dogs Pete and Leila. I can always rest assured that they are safe and secure and in good hands while I am away. more

Highly recommended obedience training 11/1/2015

My wife and I are first time dog owners, and just finished the 8 week on-lead course with our rescue dog. This course not only teaches the dog how to properly behave, but it teaches the owners as well how to best control your dog, and the skills needed for obedience. If you want a well-behaved, obedient dog, and learn the skills to obtain this, this is the course for you. Our dog's behavior has been night and day from the beginning. I would definitely recommend this trainer to anyone who asks, and I love the methods. One warning: if you are not willing to put in the recommended work during the week in between classes, don't waste your time or others in the class. more

On lead course 11/1/2015

We just finished our 8 week on lead course with our German Shepherd Lexi. We could not be happier with the progress our dog has made thus far. The trainers teach you, the handler, how to get obedience from your dog. The more you practice what you learn each week the more progress you will see from your dog. We've noticed such a significant improvement in our dogs behavior. She is less aggressive towards other dogs and people, but sometimes still displays these behaviors. We will continue to work on all the skills we've learned with our dog, so we can eventually continue on to the level 2 course. We would highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to train their dog. more

Five Star Dog Trainer 10/8/2015

I am fostering a cockapoo and considering adopting her but was hesitant because of behavioral problems. Inside she is a little angel, but outside, she turned into Tasmanian $@!#%-dog upon encountering people, dogs, squirrels, bikes etc. She was uncontrollable with barking, snarling and lunging. My brother, who went to Quail Run training classes last spring, suggested I call Don for a private training lesson. Don gave me an appointment right away for an evaluation. After spending a good deal of time with us, Don told me that she was a great dog and that her fear/aggression was manageable and probably fixable. He said she responded well to training and needed guidance and leadership from me. He couched me on what to do in certain situations and off we went to hopefully have many happy and enjoyable walks. Our first walk together went very well and I am very hopeful. I cannot thank Don enough for helping me and Jammy. I wanted this adoption to work and now I think it can thanks to THE BEST dog trainer I met today. I will be back in the spring for the eight week course. I give my most sincere and highest recommendation to Quail Run for dog training. more

Excellent professional facility 9/25/2015

I have boarded my working dog at Quail Run on multiple occasions over the past 2 years. Don and his staff define professionalism. My dog is much happier than when he was when boarded with the vet. I have passed my good experiences to the rest of my K9 unit who now also uses Quail Run to board their working dogs. We now all have had very positive experiences at Quail Run. more

Best boarding kennel in the country? Yes! 9/20/2015

And I should know! I used Quail Run for years while I lived on Long Island. 4 large dogs, 4 large personalities....everyone at Quail Run handled them with ease. I always knew they were in a safe, clean environment with knowledgeable staff. Then I moved to Vegas and searched high and low for another Quail Run. It was impossible. So many with group play, with inexperienced staff watching over them and no staff there from 6 pm to 7 am. Good news for my new dog; I am moving back to Long Island! I was on LI and visited them again. Same wonderful staff, same clean facility. I can't wait! more

On-Leash Course 8/23/2015

Our 2-year old husky-mix came from a local shelter, housebroken, but otherwise completely undisciplined. We could not take the dog for a walk or leave the house. On the leash, the dog pulled me down the road like a sled (because huskies do that) and off the leash had separation anxiety, probably from ending up in the shelter twice before adoption. When I first called to inquire about the course, Don gave me insightful advice to manage the anxiety problem. The on-leash training transformed the dog to obedient and under control. Don provides the handler the tools to work with the dog during the week after each class. The transformation occurs from the "homework" and consistency in-between classes over the 6 weeks. The techniques are similar to training professional working dogs, with no food involved. A dog will do most any "trick" for a morsel of food, but if you want an "obedient" dog, Don and his able assistants, Pat and Ed, teach the handler what to do and how to do it in a professional and entertaining environment. I highly recommend this course. more

Fantastic accomodations 8/6/2015

Monsignor is already looking forward to his next stay at Quail Run! Thank you for taking such excellent care of him during my hospitalization and recovery. He looks terrific - so nice that he returned home so nicely groomed. Many thanks, Marty Kerins more

On-Leash Course 7/12/2015

We recently completed the obedience class with our 10 month old German Shepherd, Baron. We had a wonderful experience with Don and his staff. He is very knowledgeable and we highly recommend his training class. Although he is still a puppy he follows all the basic commands. We look forward to taking the level 2 class with him in September. Thank you to Don and his staff for being so great. more

Been there before, new dog, new lessons to be learnt. (is learnt a word?) 6/20/2015

It's back to Quail Run with a new dog (been there before with a couple of Rotties). I knew I had an over-excited mutt on my hands and wasn't concerned about teaching her anything as she is extremely smart (more so than me I'm afraid), but all puppies need some socialization so this was my primary reason for returning. Even though I had remembered some of the important training procedures I didn't want to mess it up and needed the help. It's nice to know that the attention to detail really matters to the staff as well as the "man in charge" Don. I liked that everyone was of the same mind and could read each others needs during training, as in the long run, I and my pooch benefited from this. The bottom line is... if you really want the full benefit of a dog as a companion as well as a devoted member of your family, communication is key (as with children). That communication can be taught by professionals that know what they are doing and can help you reach your goal. When you leave your gonna feel like a rock star, and your dog will love you that much more for it (heck, it's fun when you can obtain what seemed to be un-obtainable) - you and your dog, totally as one! Thank you all at Quail Run for you super friendly attitude and the attention that was given to myself and everyone else in the class. Oh... forgot to mention the boarding is superb! and I love, love, love all of the animals scattered about in cozy little living quarters (it's like a little petting zoo), love it! more

One Hour, Well Spent 6/11/2015

My dog and I just spend a wonderful hour with Don. I walked away from that hour feeling that I just spent time with a reasonable and expert professional. Don's common sense approach taught me a lot about my dog, but also about me, and how I'm interacting with him. Don deserves a lot of credit for his patience, and his ability to instill confidence in me as a dog owner. Techniques I learned in that hour have been easily and quickly applied. I already see a marked improvement in my dog's behavior. I should have gone to Quail Run years ago. Don ... thanks again! more

EXCELLENT IN EVERY WAY 6/2/2015

This place is the only place I will ever bring my dogs, for boarding and for training. Our dog was very hard to control around other dogs, but after bringing him to training at Quail Run, we can bring him around other dogs, WITHOUT him being out of control. He has become a very well behaved dog, and it wouldn't have been possible without the help of Quail Run. Thank you so much!! We will continue to bring our dog/dogs here in the future, because they have proved to be so great, and totally worth it. Definitely recommend to anyone, me and my dog have learned so much, and it has only made our lives together better. more

EVALUATION DAY......AWESOME!! 5/31/2015

My husband and I have an 8 mth old Belgian Malinois Shepherd that has a fear behavior problem that we have been dealing with. He would try to bite people when socializing him and we just recently had him to the vet and they couldn't even get close to him. We were highly recommended to Don the owner of Quail Run Kennels....he was the best in Town, we were told. After visiting with Don at his Kennel and spending some quality time in evaluating our little guy and educating me, I just knew that I was sent to the right place. I knew that our little guy with lots of training and Don's guidance we can turn his behavior around. THANK YOU DON for your time and your input. He has a wonderful kennel as it is so clean and inviting and surreal. I told my husband I would bring our animals here if we needed to board them!! From the moment you pull into the driveway...you will know you entered into the right training facility. I cannot wait to get started in our training with Don and his upmost friendly TEAM! See you soon.....and THANKS!!!! :):) more
