Paid first reported later 1/8/2008

My relationship with this company began during phase I of my home purchase in August of 2007. On my credit report appeared 3 enforcement camera tickets from DMV in Washington, DC. Since I was in no position to jump through hoops for the staff at DMV I paid the tickets ($500). Imagine the look on my face when my lender sent me a copy of my credit report in December 2007; showing Professional Account Management, LLC reporting 2 unpaid collections. I've read the other reviews and have several ideas how to proceed; they can't continue to ruin our credit! more

Horrible Business Practices 1/7/2008

They too reported me to the collection agencies without ever contacting me on a ticket from 2003 just last month. The tickets was apparently for ""failing to obtain DC plates"", but I DO NOT and NEVER HAVE lived in DC. I only found out about it from my credit report. This is a ridiculous misuse of their ""power"". They should not be able to put a mark on your credit report without contacting you first. Pros: A great way to waste time talking with them Cons: Nothing gets accomplished more

We Need to stop them ! 1/2/2008

A collection agency from hell! I just found out from my credit report that PAM reported that there's a $200 unpaid ticket issued by DC (where I live) in year 2000!! In fact, I did receive a collection notice from them dated 10/19/07, and I responded with a letter on 11/5/07 - the ticket was not mine, and I didn't even own the car at the time this ticked was issued. I even attached my title report as proof. Moreover, I never received this citation from DC DMV at any time, and I was assured all these years whenever I renewed my car registration that there were no outstanding parking violation of any sort. What's going on? Anyway, dispite my letter of communication, they reported it to the credit beaureu, and caused my credit score went down. Cons: Bad more

what a horrible surprise 12/30/2007

I just received an alert from my monitoring service about these people putting a collections notice on my file. I've NEVER been in collections and the amount they are charging is $25. I'm sure it is linked to a DC ticket because I've gotten plenty of them but they've all been paid and luckily I pay online and do keep my receipts. I've disputed it with Experian and urge others to do the same. I've never received a notice of collections and hope this company is penalized for these illegal practices. If anyone has any updates please post as I will be checking back periodically. more

Worst company in the history of earth. 12/30/2007

Recently found out that my credit score tanked from an insanely high number to a sadly low figure. Why? Because the government of DC (of which I am a taxpaying resident) turned over its ticket collections to Professional Account Management Incorporated out of Wisconsin (the state, that is). But I am not alone. seems that at least 14 others (and I am sure way more) were destroyed by this company in the last week (after 18 December) and all have the same story: DC did not tell them of the ticket in any way; and the collection company sent no warning; so out of the blue when checking credit scores, a citizen is alerted to the fact that he had an unpaid ticket. Oh - and your credit is no longer good. This is unreal. It is painful enough that I purchased a house in a high tax area riven with crime- and now I have to live with a destroyed credit rating to boot? DC is totally alienating their tax paying citizens by their negligent practices. Not the way to treat their tax base. Cons: illegal more

Checked credit, sh@t bricks!!!!111!!!! 12/30/2007

A funny thing happened today, my credit rating dropped by 130 points. This is wonderful as I am going to be looking to buy a house shortly. I had like 10 unpaid accounts with Professional Account Management, llc totalling $500.00 and after searching the internets I'm going to go ahead and assume they are for unpaid parking tickets in D.C.. I also educated myself on debt collectors and learned that I should not 1) call Professional Account Management (PAM) so I will go ahead and not call them. 2) I will not call D.C. DMV as they are incompetent people who will not remove the charges from my credit report anyway. Pros: Really good at messing up my credit Cons: Kind of sort of ruined my credit rating A+++++++++ more

DC Needs To Reconsider This Company 12/27/2007

The biggest problem I have with all of this is that minor debts (traffic and parking tickets that don't appear to be more than a couple hundred at the very high end) get immediately reported by this company as negative/derogatory/collection tradelines on the credit reports of DC's citizens, apparently sometimes before the agency has even made contact with the individual. While this agency's practice is just not good for anyone involved (including the city, as I will explain) - it may not actually be illegitmate, as someone pointed out. more

Possibly Fradulent Practices. This company needs to be stopped. 12/26/2007

Through Experian's credit monitoring service, I received a credit alert regarding a derogatory notice on my credit report from Professional Account Management, LLC. The alert was posted on December 6. I am guessing (after reading all the comments posted to this blog) by the amount, $45 that it is for an unpaid parking ticket in the District of Columbia. I will not be contacting Proffessional Account Management directly as I do not want them to have further access to any of my personal information. Why do I believe this company is not above board? Because according to the Department of Motor Vehicles, I have paid all my tickets and I believe this is true for the majority of people who have posted complaints here. I will be reporting to the DC attorney general's office and the office of counsel at the DMV and suggest all of you other people out there do the same as well as calling the media (Washington Post, etc). And I would be more than happy to testify if necessary. Cons: Unprofessional/Possibly Fradulent more

It just shows up 12/26/2007

Like so many others here i too noticed a 35.00 claim on my credit report through my monitoring sercive , what is going on when a company can ding you like that with no warning what so ever, I had no idea who this company was or what this was for until I saw all these other listings here, I to will be complaining to the FCC, DC mayor and would be happy to join in any class action. How can they do this???? I never even knew that I owed this money. more

You need to read this. Prasites on Innecent Victom 12/24/2007

I assumed you were right with your first and only letter I recieved about the parking tickets about the car that I had sold back in 2003. I paid your claim as soon as I got the letter in the amount of $410 on Dec 16th, 2007. Can somebody tell me why did I get reported to Experian on Dec 21st, 2007. This is so unfair, and people who run this bussiness should be punished for neglegence and destroying good citizens credit. more

Disreputable, UNprofessional, Illegal practices 12/24/2007

Similar to the many other comments on this company, I first became aware that ""Professional"" Mgmt Services existed because they recently placed a derogatory item on my credit report - a report that up until now and for my entire credit history has been perfect. I never received a call or letter or any communication from this company,. I don't even know what I am supposed to be in debt for. Only by reading the comments on this site have I been able to speculate that it is some DC parking item. What kind of company does this? Derogatory items for $35, 50, $100 dollars without any sort of due diligence to see if the item is correct, notification to a consumer as required by law??? I called the company and my calls were all disconnected - could never reach a person. What are others doing to resolve this? I have already disputed the items and will file a FTC complaint. I will also contact the DC Mayor's office. I will not sit still and let this happen. Pros: None whatsoever Cons: Illegal practices more

Not fun but legit 12/18/2007

My experience was completely different from the others-I called, inquired about my account, and got every detail I asked for. If you go into this situation on fire, you will probably get some back-just keep that in mind when you call. These are legitimate claims. more

Illegal reporting of collections to credit bureaus without proper notification 12/18/2007

My story is identical to several others that have been posted just in the last few weeks. Basically I heard about this company through a notification service on my credit bureau account. I've never heard of them, they've never sent me anything. Called the company and ended up with more questions than answers. Customer service representative told me that they would not respond to any letters or faxes I write them, and would not remove the item from my credit bureau. I told her that I would have to seek relief from a court in that instance and was told ""That's fine. You're not going to be suing me personally, so I don't care."" Cons: Does not understand or care about the law more

You can't beat city hall 12/17/2007

Folks, like you I only learned of a speeding ticket not being paid because of this company. It was apparently a DC police camera that got me in 2004. I had moved, so the ticket was sent to the old address and I never received it. I also had another parking ticket from 2001 that had been paid, but was not timely credited. The first step was to go downtown and try to talk sense to the DMV people. I realized I was getting no where so I went ahead and paid the speeding ticket and the $25 late penalty for the parking ticket. Cons: Far too aggressive more

Horrible Business Practices 12/16/2007

I've had the same problem as others posting reviews here. I first called Professional Account Management when an alert came in from my credit monitoring agency. The guy from PAM said they were trying to collect on a 2002 ticket from Washington, D.C. (this is the end of 2007, mind you, and I have not lived in D.C. since 2001). I asked him to send me notice of the ticket in the state I now live in since I never received it and he agreed to do that. A couple of weeks later another negative alert popped up from the company on my credit report and I STILL have not received the alleged ticket. This company is a joke and I hope D.C. will stop using them for collections. Cons: unethical, possibly illegal, business practices more

unprofessional company 12/11/2007

I had a ticket from 2002 reported to the credit bureau that was not even my ticket. I was never informed about this accourt until I checked my credit report. This company participates in illegal practices. Something has to be done. They are trying to destroy peoples credit files with wrongful information. more

Prof. MGMT/ DC Gov. Breaking the LaW 12/11/2007

I have had the same situation and paid the amount to DC govenment and this has been put on my credit report as a Major Derogotory. I have contacted the FCRA ref # 12473153 and if a number of people make complaints they will start a investigation. The law states you have to know you owe and have time to pay. I was never notified before this was sent to experian. Pros: Breaking the Law Cons: Breaking the Law more

Exact same issue as texas1 12/11/2007

texas1, I have the exact same issue (a ticket from DC for $35 that showed up on my experian credit report that I had never heard of). How did you get it resolved? more

Very unperfessional company 12/7/2007

The inter-action with this company was the result of a notice received from my credit monitoring company alerting me to the fact that Professional Account Mgmt Inc. had posted notice with Experian Credit Reporting Company that they were charging off $35.00. Cons: does not chec things out before making reports to Exparian. more

Ended with harassment 10/22/2007

The interaction with this service started from an already paid parking ticket from the city of Pittsburgh. The issue at hand was a late fee associated with this ticket. I had written a letter to the organization in protest of the late fee and the letter was never acknowledged or received. After a couple of phone calls by Professional Account Management, we discussed why the late fee was being collected on. After going back to my records, I noticed that I did not send the ticket within the requested time. So, realizing my mistake, I asked that they send me another bill. To date, I have not received another bill. In the meantime, I continue to receive phone calls as if they knew nothing from the previous phone conversations. Finally, the purpose of this rating is the phone call I received today. The lady became belligerent and began accusing me of things I didn't say. Finally, she hung up on me! I am very frustrated that this business did not follow through with sending me another bill upon my request (they say the bills come automatically but I haven't been receiving them, so why not help me by faxing one or hand mailing one). If it is so important to call me once a week, why not go one step extra to get me the bill. But, more importantly, why does a professional agency allow someone to harass a ""customer"" who was trying to work this out professionally? I was upset at the extreme rudeness but did call back to pay this late fee. I am shocked at how I was treated and would recommend a city or business to consider other collection agencies before hiring this one. I would also welcome a call from the owner of this agency if they so choose. more
