Disappointment after disappointment 2/18/2014

This company sells a pool with explicit warranties – in writing – and now they have decided to stop fulfilling repair / replacement requests on those warranties because “we don’t carry the parts anymore” or whatever - and I guess this is supposed to be acceptable? Built in the fall of 2003, this pool has been one challenge after another: 1. The total failure of the salt cell three years after installation (despite monthly cleanings according to the instructions); 2. The failure of the pump motor five years after installation (which was naturally out of warranty and therefore I had to deal with it out of pocket); 3. The failure of the POOL LIGHT DUE TO FLOODING by year five after installation – wow! I tried to correct this by replacing the lens, but that didn’t take care of it – the leak is somewhere else in the body of the lamp, and the only solution appears to be spending over $300 for a new light plus whatever ridiculous labor to have it installed. I’ve NEVER seen this at any other home pool! 4. The pump itself started leaking 6 years after installation, and was leaking so badly and moving so little water by year 10 that I had to replace it; 5. The raised deck which houses the vertical water feature has cracked in two places and the cracks will, I assume, get worse (nice construction there, guys) 6. And now the 3M quartz plaster surfacing is failing across the bottom of the pool despite the many hundreds of dollars I have spent on chemicals and the attention I’ve paid over the decade of ownership to keep the pool skimmed and brushed, and to keeping the chemistry of the pool correct. And now, with this latest move to basically send a customer somewhere else to fulfill requests on stuff that is SUPPOSED to be under warranty with their company, it’s absolutely clear that Presidential Pools has ZERO interest in having me seek their services in the future, nor do they appear to perceive any value in positive “word of mouth” advertising. GO ELSEWHERE - DON'T RISK A HUGE INVESTMENT WITH THIS RAGTAG OUTFIT! more

Heater not working 12/31/2013

We have had our pool for two winters and to date have not been able to use it on our Christmas trips. Last year the reason was "Arizona's coldest winter" and we did not start the heater earlier prior to our visit. Although all of our neighbours pools worked with a 24-48 hour warm up time. This year our heater has been on two full weeks before our visit and has not made a difference. We were sold on the energy efficient heat pump? Relied upon the experts and have been let down. more

Attention to Detail and Quality Work 10/28/2013

Pool construction came and went we finally got a pool late . Ran into some issues along the way 1) The excavation crew almost killed my trees torn up curbing and killed some shrubs . 2) Plumbing was another issue had to provide my propane because guy did not come out with some he use up the whole tank left without saying anything, He deplumed and it had to be reworked twice . 3) Either the crew who put up my wall or the crew did the deck stole my water nozzle. 4) The mason crew who installed two pillars did such a poor job they had to come out three times . Our pool should of been done mid September but it was not. There would be days that would turn to a week for someone to show up. I understand the weather was a factor . I had my last walk thru October 1 2013, I have some issues that need to be addressed. Nothing has been done what so ever . I am really disappointed with the service and quality of workmanship and communication . more

I just had a new pool built in March 2013 with the Blue Square Q360 in floor system and it does not work as advertised. \r No one at Blue Square or Presidential Pools wants to help, they sent out a warranty agent who changed out just about all the heads and the system still does not clean the floor of the pool. Now they say there is nothing wrong with the system and they will not send anyone out again, warranty gone.\r more

Poor Customer service 8/16/2013

Presidential completely dropped the ball upon completion of my pool. The interior on pool was scheduled for the 12th. I had to to call Gene the project manager to ask when they were planning on coming out to finish since they were a no show. Gene said when the decking was completed it would be set up. I told him it has been done for 3 days and he seemed clueless. Gene did call me to set appointment for the upcoming Friday and again he cancelled through text message the day of installation. He said he cant control the pebble companys scheduled like this pool and this date just got dropped on him all of a sudden. Long story short I have had 2 shasta pools and have had no issues ever. This will be my last presidential pool and i would recommend everyone to go elsewhere with your business and avoid the long dely and run around more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/6/2013

This is the first review of this type I have decided to write, however it is important for everyone to know how terrible my experience with Presidential has been. I realize they are completely overworked as I have been told repeatedly that they have sold more pools this year than all of last year combined, but the quality of construction, level of service and management have all been terrible. I signed a contract on March 25 for a pool to be completed and I sit here August 6 with a pool which is still not complete, a poor job on paver instalation, the sales individual was kind but did not explain many of the different options I have come to find out were possible in terms of product. The crew went missing for multiple days and I am about to meet with them to discuss the numerous corrections which need to be made. They put in volleyball sleeves when I specifically laid out where I wanted umbrella sleeves in different areas. I also have a colleague who recently built a Presidential Pool and is now having issues with the entire yard flooding, cleaning system issues and decking problems. Bottom line is they have way too much business, quality is terrible and possibly their mindset of lowering the cost of pools has led to overworked staff with very few resources. Working in the real estate profession I have advised numerous clients at this point to stay away from Presidential. In return for the issues caused by this job Presidential told me if I did all of my landscaping through them ($33k worth) and they would take $500 off. Wow! What a stand up company. more

Construction decent but Service Lacking 3/30/2013

Purchased a Pool back in August 2004 from Presidential Pools. All seemed to go well with the installation. Salesman sold us on the Pebble Tech Finish as he said it was "Bulletproof" and the only real finish to use in the Arizona Sun and heat. Even paid an extra $1,498 for this including 14 feet of rolled beam. The 10 year warranty on this finish was also a plus. We first noticed a crack in the finish on one of the steps back in December 2012 and called about a Warranty Repair. There were also several small cracks in the Rolled Beam. It took two weeks and several calls to actually speak to someone and for them to send a Tech out to see what was needed. I then got a quote from them for $550 to complete the warranty repair below the waterline on the step (warranty only covered materials and not labor). They explained that they needed to completely drain and refill the pool to complete the repairs and that's why the cost was so high. I asked if then we could go ahead and repair the cracks in the Rolled Beam. They would need to send a tech out again to quote the additional work. Two weeks went by and no return calls. Another two weeks and no return calls. Finally I posted a review on Yelp and had a call back in half an hour. A Manager promised that he would personally look into the problems and that I please remove the bad Yelp Review. A week later the Service Manager came to my house and reduced the price for the repair to $350.00 since I would pump down and refill the pool myself. Also told me not to worry about the Rolled Beam since the cracks were very small and would be OK for a few more years. Now here I sit at around 4:00 on the day that the crew was supposed to be here with an empty pool. Even took a day off work to make sure I was here. I called the Service Manager this morning to confirm they would be here and he was supposed to call me back with a time. Several calls and a text later I still have no response. Presidential Pools Service is really lacking. Would definitely not consider them again. more

Great on sales, terrible on delivery 8/5/2012

Sales and design part were great, after we signed, it went down hill. 2 1/2 weeks late in even getting started - their fault. We're given an upgrade tomcompensate for their mistakes, thought, ok, they are doing good. But, never stuck to the schedule they gave us, don't think they ever worked 2 consecutive days so far! We are again over a week late, "waiting on parts" they now tell us. If they are that big of a pool builder, why are we waiting a week for parts!? Will never use again and will NEVER recommend! We have a big hole in the ground now, just sitting for over a week. Regret selecting Presidential Pools - do not use! more

Disappointing, to say the least . . . 6/22/2012

My husband and I hired Presidential Pools & Spas to put in our pool earlier this year, based on the fact that they've been doing business in the Valley for so long. We have never built a pool before, so we had no other means of choosing a company. Unfortunately, what we found is that since the pool industry isn't reliant on repeat business, they simply don't place any importance on keeping their customers happy. The construction itself was a constant comedy of errors, mostly due to the MANY people involved with the job failing to communicate with each other. Honestly, we would have been better served to act as our own general contractor. Their subs were great (for the most part), but the office communication (or lack thereof) was horrendous. And due to this lack of communication, we had the wrong color tile and stone put up, among many other mishaps throughout the process. To list them all would make this review ridiculously long. It took 5 months to finish our pool, when our salesman originally promised that it would be a 5 or 6 week job. Lesson #1 - never believe anything their sales people tell you. It has now been 30 days since the pool was finished, and we are having some issues with the deck - the travertine pavers are coming loose and sinking in places - and although we've put in several e-mails and phone calls to the POE (Presidential Outdoor Environment) people, we haven't received any response, nor has anybody come out to address these issues. I suppose Lesson #2 is once you've paid them in full, don't expect ANY level of customer service or follow up after that point. I wrote a letter last week to Presidential top management, hoping that would help to get some of our outstanding issues taken care of, as well as to help them better educate and train their staff, but to date we've heard nothing - except for a one line "thank you for your letter" e-mail. Our experience with Presidential has been very disappointing, to say the least, and we would like to warn other people about what we went through, so that they can look into using other pool companies for their project instead. I know that if I had had any idea, we certainly would have used somebody else. We are happy to finally have our pool finished, but boy was it a painful process. At this point, we wish that Presidential would just make the remaining items right, so that we could all move on. more

I was extremely worried when we were 4/11/2012

I was extremely worried when we were looking to build a pool because I had heard so many horror stories from people, but I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience with Presidential. They were incredibly professional, the quality of the work is exceptional, and the people have all been great to work with. I have already recommended Presidential to several of my neighbors who have inquired about our experience. more

Excellent pool experience, great people to work with 3/5/2012

Having never owned a pool, we were very nervous in talking to pool sales people. We had checked with friends and Presidential Pools name came up and we called. We met Karin Tierney and were immediately put at ease. Karin walked us through the whole pool design process. We changed our plans several times and she always accomodated us in a very timely fashion. She seemed to "get" our design idea and really worked with us to get the pool we wanted and designed correctly. When it came to putting together a package of equipment she really shined at the explanations of each piece we were thinking about adding. Several friends have been over to see the finished product and they all have commented on the type on equipment and neat appearance and ease to get at them for maintenance. As to cost, we had decided on a budget and Karin constantly kept us informed of the prices of the changes. This can be quite time consuming when doing these adds and subtracts. Again, she was very timely in getting back to us. But that was just buying to pool. From that point on it was turned over to Mike Duffy, one of their Supterintendents. He picked up where Karin had left off. He coordinated the work seamlessly, kept things moving and finsihed 2 weeks ahead of their orginal schedule. We had family coming into town and they made the deadline! Overall, for a first time buyer or someone who knows pools, you will find working with the Presidential Pool personnel a great experience. more
