Pool Concepts was amazing. I've worked Air Force construction for over 20 years so know the difference. Did a ton of research and received full designs from San Antonio's Big 4 pool contractors. Pool Concepts had the best design, most competitive pricing and an outstanding construction crew that was responsive throughout the entire process. George is an incredible designer that masterfully solved some significant elevation challenges we had and Dre the construction site lead was always on top of it, responded immediately to questions and always followed up. After 2 months of using the pool I have to say from design to construction to using it, everything went flawless. Would recommend Pool Concepts over any other San Antonio pool builder in a second! -Marc more

We had many decisions to make when building a pool, but after it was all said and done, we picked Pool Concepts...and I'm so glad we did. From the beginning to the end, they were extremely professional. From our sales consultant, Jason, to our site manager, Dre, the whole process was pleasant. My family and I truly enjoy our pool and if we had to do it all over again, we would for sure have Pool Concepts build our pool. Thanks guys!!! more

We met with 5 companies when we decided to build a pool. We narrowed our choices down to two—Pool Concepts and a one-man company in the Canyon Springs area. Tommy at Pool Concepts had come up with a wonderful design and it was a difficult decision. We chose the other company—and came to regret it very much. Our builder did not have a permit for our pool on file until almost a full month after he started. Throughout the build there were many broken promises of dates things would be done. He ignored many emails, phone calls, and texts. But when it was a pay day, he was at our door to collect his checks. The quality of the work was less than great. At one point he left town for almost a week without telling us or any of his subcontractors. During this time, our plaster was sprayed. Someone turned the water on to fill the pool but gave us no instructions. He ignored all calls and texts from us and the subs who were here working. He finally texted back when I texted him that I was calling a pool service company to come and would deduct the cost from his draw. He said he was sending someone out the next morning (Friday). No one ever showed up until he finally came back to town on Monday. This company was so frustrating to deal with. We are still trying to get things finished and fixed. I could go on and on but I think you get the point. \r \r Had we gone with Pool Concepts, we truly believe we would not have had to deal with many of these stresses and frustrations. Here’s why—there is always someone to answer the phone when you call Pool Concepts—a real person! If someone decides to go out of town in the middle of a job, there are others to turn to. Pool Concepts has wonderful ratings on Angie’s List and on BBB as well as Google, etc. They build a lot of pools and have for a long time. Don’t make our mistake and wish you hadn’t spent your money with this less-experienced operation. Choose Pool Concepts and get the benefit of a great company.\r more

Pool Concepts is an excellent pool builder in San Antonio. They designed and built a custom pool for us with several unique features including a waterfall, flowing pots, and installation of 6 turtle mosaics. Their design capabilities are second to none and they were able to take our desires and turn them into reality. They constructed a pool deck along with a fire pit as an added feature. Their construction quality is exceptional and customer service is superb. We have and will continue to recommend Pool Concepts to our family, friends and anyone else building a pool. more

Pool Concepts review\r Highly Recommend!!\r \r Pool Concepts built our pool in the fall of 2001. It was a great experience. Start to finish, the pool was completed in less than a month. Our back yard wasn’t huge and we wanted a lot of features—waterfall, benches, plus a deep end of at least 6 feet—a tall order! Pete’s design delivered everything we wanted and really took into account the other features of our yard, trees, etc. \r Why am I writing this review now, in 2013? Because we had an experience this week that really attests to the quality of a Pool Concepts pool and the materials and equipment they use. I guess we weren’t paying close attention at “pool school” and completely missed the part about taking the DE filter apart once or twice a year and cleaning the filter grids. So for the last TWELVE YEARS, we haven’t touched the thing! We started noticing what looked like DE sitting on the steps and benches, what I now know is called blow back. We called Pool Concepts and spoke to Ryan Ordaz. He couldn’t believe we had never cleaned that filter!! He sent a repair person out THAT SAME DAY, who replaced those filter grids in about 30 minutes. He also couldn’t believe that the filter had functioned so well for so long. The pool is beautiful and sparkling once more. \r We are getting ready to build a house and will be calling Pool Concepts to build our next pool. Whoever buys our current home will, I’m sure, enjoy our pool as much as we have. Great designs, workmanship, and customer service. Two thumbs WAY UP.\r more

Pool Concepts is by far the best pool construction company in San Antonio! From the day we walked into the office unitl the day my kids were swimming in a beautiful new pool, they were professional, friendly and honest. \r \r We found their quality of work to be exceptional. They spent time with us in the design phase and offered advice as well as listened to our concerns and ideas. The fly-through 3D rendering was extremely helpful in understanding what the final project would look like. \r \r Even after they had all the money for the pool, they quickly addressed any issues, they were friendly and helpful. They even helped me move an 800+ lb hottub to the pad they had built for it months later.\r \r We did our homework and met with several other high profile pool companies. The other companies were less than helpful, extremely expensive and in some cases just dishonest. Anyone even thinking of building a pool needs to go see Pool Concepts. more

I am writing this to anyone looking to put in a new in-ground custom pool. Against my better judgment, I made the mistake of going with a cheaper BID and did not ultimately choose Pool Concepts. I have seen the work done by Pool Concepts at many of my friend?s homes and now regret not paying a little extra for the quality and excellent personal service touch that the Ordaz family brings to the table. The bottom line, they build a QUALITY product for a competitive price. During the build phase of my existing pool, I could not get straight answers or timely returned phone calls from the company I had contracted with... One day I called into Pool Concepts and asked to speak with Jason or Pete. Within a few hours, they both had returned my phone call and helped me understand some of the things going on with the construction of my pool. They had already lost the pool bid and had no reason to invest their time with us...however, they did and this is a testament to their quality run family business. They are looking to help customers for the long run, not for a simple sale of a single pool. My recommendation is, Get a design you like and lots of quotes from reputable custom builders in San Antonio, then make sure Pool Concepts is strongly considered as a front runner ! more

Pool Concepts is GREAT! 8/27/2010

Our pool is finished and we took our first swim last night. Pool Concepts did a great job and listened to what we wanted and then designed a pool that fits perfectly into our backyard. We are going to get many, many years of great fun and memories because of our new pool and we thank Pool Concepts for that. We were confident from the start that they would do a great job because of their attention to detail and they lived up to our expectations. The process of installing the pool was a big one and we had no idea of the work that would have to go into it. We know that our soil type was a little unexpected but we knew that by choosing Pool Concepts we had nothing to worry about and were very confident that they would do what was needed to make sure we don?t have any issues, and we were not disappointed. Working with Pool Concepts has been a great experience and we will refer them to anyone that we know that may be thinking about installing a pool. more

Pool Concepts...great! HRA Lanscaping and Irrigation...BAD! 7/30/2010

First off, let me say that I love my pool. Its been in for a while now and its been great and very easy to maintain. While the pool was going in the communication between us and the crew was rough. I feel like if I'm spending a great deal amount towards a project that I should not be the one constantly calling to find out why no one was here and what is happening with the pool. We had a few bumps in the road along the way, but they mostly got worked out the way we wanted. So I would definatley recommend Pool Concepts. However, Pool Concepts recommends using HRA Landscape & Irrigation which was a HUGE mistake! They made the rest of the pool experience just horrible. They tell you a good story and say all the right things, but trust me they will follow through with none of the things they promised. When they do finally show up, the work is crap. Nothing is ever done they way its suppose to be and after talking and trying to get them to do the work right(weeks and weeks), we finally gave up and just finished the work ourselves. We lost $ in the deal with them so please do yourself a favor and DO NOT hire HRA Landscape & Irrigation. Pros: Looks great and easy to maintain Cons: The crews did not communicate well more

Pete and crew were GREAT 6/28/2010

We could not be happier with our Pool Concepts pool, just finished about 2 weeks ago. Pete and all his crews were exemplary, and our pool is stunning. All cost was explained up front, no surprises. The construction and attention to detail was meticulous - from design planning to completion. Pete came out and was not happy with a minor drainage issue on one side of the decking, and made his guys dig it out and put another drain in (no charge). They even put the construction fence back up and down a couple of times DAILY so I could let my dogs out to do their business. Pros: Timely, considerate, good price, FABULOUS construction Cons: None more

Horrible Experience 7/2/2009

We contracted Pool Concepts to build our pool. They began okay and in the beginning tried to make things work. The plaster is not good, the grotto leaks, did not install dimmer on grotto as promised. Ruined fence and refused to repair. Don't get me wrong they did their "fix" but what a joke. Bottom line unless you want a screw job don't use them. They are by far the slimmiest bunch I have ever met. They lie, lie, lie, lie and more lies. Pros: NONE Cons: they are slimmy people more
