I did a lot of research before purchasing a gown for my wedding. I read reviews on many websites. I found great reviews for the Plumed Serpent and some not so great. When I went there, I wondered how anyone could write a bad review. The store is beautiful, the dresses of the highest quality and the staff is helpful. Some stores I visited were overwhelming with the selection of dresses. The Plumed Serpent had a varied selection of most of the hot designers. I was lucky enough to go to a Monique trunk show and got to see all her designs. The seamstress was lovely and did not lose patience with my pre-wedding jitters and constant questions. The gown fit beautifully. I felt like a princess! I have recommended the store to everyone I know who is engaged. Thanks ladies for making my special day PERFECT. more

A friend of mine recommended that I visit the Plumed Serpent to find a wedding dress because of her amazing experience. Over the weekend I went there to look for a wedding dress with my sister and my mom and Allison, the owner, was my consultant. After showing Allison some photos of dresses I liked and explaining to her my likes and dislikes Allison got a sense of my style and picked out dresses for me to try on. The first dress I tried on was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the dress was well above my price range but Allison found another one that was half the price and just as beautiful. Allison has a great sense of style and added a sash and broach to the dress that really set it off and made it unique. The experience was one that I will never forget. The atmosphere was charming and she spend 2.5 h with us. It is worth the trip from NYC! I didn't end up buying my dress from this shop because I wanted a dress that was less expensive (<$3000) but if money is no limit I would recommend making a visit. I booked an appointment in advance and found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. After visiting a smattering of stores, I found EVERYTHING that I needed here at Plumed Serpent. They were able to complete the look and offered helpful recommendations for hair and makeup specialists. I especially appreciate the time and courtesy they extended to me as an out of town bride planning an event in their local area. Highly recommended! more

Recently, I visited the store to browse bridesmaid gowns. I noticed beautiful wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, not many. I did not make an appointment due to no mention of an appointment needed on the website. I did notice stated on the door that an appointment was recommended. The store was understaffed and too busy to assist and did tell me that an appointment was needed to try on dresses. I think this information would be helpful on their website and it is probably best to state that appointments are needed. I would rather travel a greater distance to have a better experience. Too many other great stores with many more wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses. more

Although the selection is smaller that your typical bridal store, the quality and service make all of that well worth it! Everything that the descriminating bride would need is available here and none of that typical pushiness! Very positive experience!!! more

We used this shop for our bridesmaids gowns and the alterations were perfect, the dresses were beautiful, but the staff wasn't very accomodating and the prices were very high. I would probably go again just because of the the beautiful gowns that they do offer, but may think twice because of the sales people and their rush to get to the next person in line. PROS: High Quality Selections CONS: Very Pricey, not thrilled with the staff more

My wife spent weeks raving about this bridal shop after looking here for her wedding gown. No matter what your budget, you should make the time to stop by The Plumed Serpent while shopping for a wedding gown. While The Plumed Serpent has a rather small selection of gowns, they carry only the highest quality designers and you will get a feel for what a wedding dress should be! The staff at The Plumed Serpent is excellent and very willing to help. Unlike many bridal shops, we didn't feel pressured to put down a deposit immediately. Sadly, with quality comes expense. But a trip will be worth it for the experience alone - this is what wedding dress shopping should be! more
